View Full Version : Using Microwave fucks up my Starmate's reception greenspizzy 02-24-2006, 03:47 PM About 95% of the time when someone turns on my microwave I lose reception for about 5 or 10 seconds. Its not a power issue. Anyone else have this problem? Lou Cypher 02-24-2006, 03:51 PM That's funny - I have my radio hooked up to portable headphones and now, whenever the phone rings, the headphones make a weird beeping noise and I lose reception for a few seconds. I actually don't mind it because I know when the phone's ringing no matter where I am in the house. Nursegrrl8 02-24-2006, 03:52 PM how old is your microwave? blugrssdude 02-24-2006, 03:55 PM Yes, my s50 did the same thing, I turned to antenna aiming and watched it, when I turn the microwave on, the sattelite strength drops and I lose the station, good way to lose weight, the advertising possibilities are endless assmasterson 02-24-2006, 03:57 PM Microwaves do strange things sometimes. When I had my old laptop, my wireless signal would be dropped when the microwave was running. Sir JMark 02-24-2006, 03:57 PM Do you find your testicles are shrinking too? If so, might want to have that microwave tested for leakage. Bud 02-24-2006, 04:03 PM Is it harmful to stare into a microwave? Because I do that all the time. the_apex 02-24-2006, 04:03 PM Yes, but not a problem. I'm installing a vending machine into my kitchen so that I don't have to use the microwave any more. Nothing but ready to eat foods and instant satisfaction. I just hope the cupcakes don't run out to quickly. Sir JMark 02-24-2006, 04:04 PM Is it harmful to stare into a microwave? Because I do that all the time. And what do you see? kali 02-24-2006, 04:06 PM yes, the microwave affects the cordless phone (when I'm using the phone) . and before anyone asks why I turn on the Microwave while I'm on the phone, the answer is I don't, someone else does and no matter how often I remind them not to, they always forget. alzheimer's a bitch  ARTIETHEPIGG 02-24-2006, 04:09 PM its happened to me too. i thought i was just buggin out but realized it, tried to mount my ant. in different places but it didnt matter. it doesnt happen that much tho. Bud 02-24-2006, 04:11 PM And what do you see? I see dead people. gremmie 02-24-2006, 04:11 PM i lose signal on my orbiter when my laptop is close to it. i usually lay in bed and use my laptop with my orbiter boom box next to me too.. aarrrgghhhh jrinck 02-24-2006, 04:14 PM It could be the microwaves, but it could also be the power loss in the circuit. If you're old enough, you may remember that when Mom turned on the Blender that the TV would go haywire, and that's because the blender introduced a whole shitload of noise onto the circuit that fucked with the TV. I'm not saying that's what's happening here, as I don't have the full details of your setup, but it's plausible. sternaholic267 02-24-2006, 04:18 PM It's probably a power thing. I have my JVC boombox in my room and when I use my paper shredder (which is about 8 feet away) I momentarily lose reception. Just wait for commercials to nuke your food! SternFan100 02-24-2006, 10:41 PM A microwave affects things around 2.4Ghz. I notice it affects my 2.4GHZ cordless but not my 900MHz. I also get sirius drops when the microwave is on, the signal goes from 1 to 10 rather wildly. |
