Some of us enjoy the FOS site, some don’t.

Not all boards are for everyone, same as not all morning radio shows are for everyone — that’s why there's such a variety to choose from.

I pick and choose the boards I like and igniore those I find boring, but I see no reason to badmouth those sites or their moderators.

ARTIE = GOOD

Artie does a great job. I miss Jackie and Billie, but that has nothing to do with whether I like Artie or not. He certainly hasn't hurt the show, I don't really see how someone could say he has. He's funny and interesting. the show needs both. Anyway, the voting continues.

Artie is going to be doing a Murderer's Row comedy show in King of Prussia with Rev Bob Levy on Saturday. We're going to try and make it. We don't get to see Artie too much. Salue!!

i agree with everything you just said, its not arties fault. he is just doing his best, the chemestry aint there . The show was on a downward spiral anyway . Howard biggest fear should be a new show coming out and taking all his ratings away, but so far nothing. Just bad radio all around . fucking mancow wont be the guy to take howies crown. lucky for him even a shitty howard stern show is better then the best bubba the love sponge . but the past few years have shown that howard is the king of only radio, and well thats nothing to brag about. But i love the guy and i pray he goes back to who he was and stops trying to do things that he cant

Artie just seems like a Man's Man. There's nothing remotely feminine about him, the way there is with most guys. He also seems like one of those guys that lucked out and became a celebrity. Don't get me wrong, but how many guys do you know that are funny and everyone says 'you should be a comedian' or something like that, but in reality-you KNOW the guy wouldn't really cut it as an actor or stand-up. It seems that Artie pulled it off.
But that still doesn't explain how Carrot Top is still going.

Artie's great, and makes a great addition to the show. An ex-cokehead degenerate gambler who never wins a single bet. Howard goofs on him mercilessly, like he did with Jackie. Artie probably laughs his hardest when everyone's goofing on him, which was the exact opposite of Jackie's reaction. He always got really defensive and angry and acted really annoying and unfunny.

True, sometimes it's great to push people's buttons, but Howard blamed Jackie for ruining potential bits on the show because of his attitude. Of course, I can never tell what's real on the show and what's not, so Jackie killing the bit could have been part of the script.

I guess eventually I'll have to concede that despite how much I might have disliked Jackie and his endless plugs, all that junk helped make the show what it was. I just don't see why people fault Artie for the same kind of thing. I don't agree that the show's headed in a bad direction and Artie's another bad decision. "I fought my suit and the suit won" was hilarious. I laugh at new episodes as much as old ones.

Artie just isn't that funny. At best he is a slightly amusing "regular guy" who is funny in the way that any dopey average Joe has funny moments. There is nothing particular clever or uniquely comedic about him at all. Nothing that could possibly inspire anyone to call themselves a "fan" of his. A fan of what!?! He has no talent! The funniest moments involving him on the show are when he admits to having done something stupid in his daily life and Howard busts his balls over it. Being an Artie fan is like being a fan of the fire hydrant in front of your apartment building because for some strange reason you find it amusing the way dogs are always pissing on it.

I met Artie Sunday night after his show in DC. he's such a nice guy and funny as hell, i think he has been the best thing to happen to stern in recent years. he adds a lot of life to the show that you can see is missing when he isn't on one day. i think howard really feeds of what he has to say and add.

While I think Artie would be funnier working without the parameters of radio and the red tape that goes with it, he does add a "laugh at the fat kid" element to the show. He seems to know his role and does it well. He doesn't pretend to be something he's not. He'll be the first to tell you that he drinks too much, eats too much, gambles too much and smokes too much-but he doesn't give a shit. You gotta love Arite!!! :bow:

Artie is amazing!!! He is the only reason to listen to the show now..

The funny thing is I hated him on MAD TV.. and all his movies .. also when he first started and did that stupid cough laugh.

BUT now 2 years later.. Artie is the reason to listen.. EVERYONE plays off him, which is great!! Howard looks as much to Artie now then Robin.. Artie is very QUICK!! Has a ton a fast jokes, that get Howard rollin'.. (which Billy West used to do) Artie has great stories about his life and problems.. PLUS Howard can spin stories about his problems.. and Artie is a great sport & wants to do anything for the show!! Fred LIKES him! Artie respects everyones work & job and is not a bitter loser like Jackie... Fred respects that!! WE hear Fred laughing allot at Artie's Humor.. They respect each others space and respect each other on the air..

not like Jackie.. WHO saw the Howard Stern Roast on E! that was on E! a week ago.. Jackie BOMBED!!!! He sucked !! He was the worst one to roast Howard..

Artie has grown into this job.. waaaaay better then anyone could imagine.. in only 2 years!

Watch ALL the guests on E!.. they all look over to Artie and laugh thier heads off at his shit!!! PLUS Artie BUST BALLS.. pretty hardcore to Guests Faces too!!

He is really an amazing addition to the show!!!

I couldn't even imagine.. Jackie,Fred,Howard & Robin ALL close to 50 years old.. complaining about everything.. complainig about each other like OLD MAIDS! A little of this is fine and missing from the show.. BUT this would be EVERYDAY for 5 HOURS :rolleyes: (boring)

what Artie has brought to the show is respect for comics! He knows the working environment of a huge cast.. and respecting everyone strengths and giving support to each other.. From MAD TV!

Jackie was the complete opposite!! :mad: :rolleyes: He would bitch and moan when Benjy was funny "He is doing it again.. he is trying to steal my job"... he needed to take credit for everything! needed the "Head Writer" title?? and would ONLY laugh waaaay waaaay waay to LOUD when Howard would use one of his written jokes (which wasn't that often.. maybe 2 or 3 times an hour) Big Deal?

He is not funny.. Howard is just great at created "real life" characters out of a person on the shows life.. he makes the truth into a character and that makes comedy!

People might miss the Jackie Drunk.. "character".. BUT that was created.. that wasn't truely him and he didn't know that would be funny on the air ( jackie said time after time.. "I dont was to ruin the image.. BUT.. that aint me anymore"...)

Example: Andrew Dice Clay didn't know House Hunting was funny for the radio.. He can't spin a charcter or a story.. BUT HOWARD CAN!

Same with Jackie.. he had NO clue.. he rarely said anything.. MOST of it was EVERYONE doing the jackie character's voice and making up situations up.. (Billy, Jacket Puppet,Robin & of course Fred)

That had NOTHING to do with Jackie.. He isn't creative enough to think any of that up...

BUT Artie has that Skill.. he can make things up on the fly!! which gets howard rollin'.. and howard just takes over.. and does his magic!! Artie then adds more to the of the bit.. and makes it even funnier!!

Artie is #1! (for the show.. perfect for the show!!!!) :) :cool:

I don't even "hear" the show, most of the time..what I get is from Mark's Friggin....and anytime Artie speaks, it is pretty damn funny. I get it on Monday morning and that's it. But Artie is about the only non-millionaire on the show is is not obsessed with his weight. He brings a blue-collar attitude to the show, which will be missed if that fat fuck ever leaves...plus there NEEDS to be a drunk besides John.

The reason Artie is hated by some, i.e. me, is because he has taken Jackie's spot and as long as he is there we believe there is no chance Jackie will come back. Artie has improved but he is not as funny or as interesting as Jackie or some of the other fill-ins for that matter. When Jackie first left I did not think it was serious since his contribution to the show was not evident. Now it has become obvious and Artie is the lightening rod for criticism about the decline in the quality of the show. It is still the most compelling and funniest show on either radio or TV but it is not the same show without Jackie. I am not really sure what Artie contrubutes besides giving Howard a break. Why can someone not take the bull by the horns, contact Jackie and get him back in?

You are right, Artie has become more comfortable and is now less annoying and I do not think Jackie is coming back. It is just hard to believe the Howard will allow his legacy to end without both guns blazing. Obviously I see it like the Beatles: Howard is an American icon who has changed pop culture but won't swallow the bitter pill and go back to his former glory. I guess there is no use whining about it. Artie has to stop worrying what people think and get genuinely nasty when Howard starts to rev up. That is what Jackie used to do brilliantly. Laying low when the bullets start to fly does not work.

So far about 81% have a favorable opinion of Artie. I had the great privilege to meet him at one of his comedy shows, and he is just like hanging out with your buddies. None of his fame goes to his head. I still thank all those that made that happen, you know who you are. Artie contributes enormously to the show, in just about every way. I hope he stays with Howard till the end.
