Just curious as to what size everyone was using. I've been using 128, but it's killing my hard drive space. I love the quality I'm getting with it. Sounds great when I transfer the files to my ipod. What do you guys use, and how's the quality?

I would LOVE if more people made high bitrate recordings ...

from what I see in newsgroups where I go most people there encode @ 24 for anything pre-sirius

the sirius shows seem to be encoded @ 64 - 96 mostly, but I see people looking for the smaller files (24s)
It seems like initally they encode @ 96 or 64 and then put out a 24 for people with dialup or HD space issues

Since I record the shows to MD and delete the mp3 files, file size isnt much of an issue for me so I always try and get the highest available, but like I said pretty much everything Pre-sirius is @ or around 24

I record at 40 kbps and the sound quality is still real good. One show goes about 90 MB give or take a few depending on the length of the show.

If you don't want to record at a lower quality you could always burn them to a cd or dvd and then delete the files to free up hard drive space.

I'm a newbie here (been reading for a while) I finally picked up a Starmate replay Friday and have it hooked up at home running through my computer, and take it in my car. I tried to hook it up at work today and there is absolutely no signal. So I am wanting to record the nightly (now all day) replay of The Show (and other things) to tranfer to my iPod and bring to work.

What is the best software to record from a 'line-in' on my computer to save or transfer as an MP3 with a schedule to start recording? I tried the Sirius Recorder but it said I needed to have my reciever plugged in thorugh the USB or a something.

Any help is appreciated, thanks

This is probably what I would end up doing anyways. But I would like to fit more than a couple on any given DVD. At 128, it takes up around 350mb.

I use RecAll Pro. I have also tried Total recorder. They both work well.

I've been using mono 64K 22KHz and the show including the wrap up show is just under 200MB. I know what you mean about it taking lots of disk space. Maybe I should be recording with a lower bitrate???

Ive been using an iriver mp3 recorder and im doing it at 112bps my recorder is 256mb and it holds just over 5 hours... i want it at near CD quality... im burning it onto CD-Rs and i can get 2 shows on each CD thus for 5 shows (including some wrapups) on 3 CD-Rs of course via MP3

I only started recording once Howard got to Sirious. Since Jan. 9th, I've got 12G of Stern Shows on my computer. Most of them are on my ipod and stored on my external hard drive. I will back them up onto DVD in the next couple of weeks due to fear of my hard drive failing.
