After many questions and hearing Ned interviewed there are some here that question him being real. Kevin Matthews, a radio guy who made his biggest mark in Chicago, was a great impressionist. Consider him a combo of Manson and Bubba in terms of what he did on his show.

Anyways, he did this ingenious character called Jim Shorts, a freaky little sports dweeb from Indiana with even more bizarre parents, girlfriend and a brother who was a pyromaniac.

The whole thing was phony, but Matthews was so damn funny and played Shorts to such hilarious effect that it didn't matter.

Bubba's gone on record saying how much he likes Matthews. Bubba's show is awesome, too.

Today on Bubba's show he said "We don't fake shit". I again only want to say, real or fake, the truth should be told so we can enjoy the show.

im new here and kinda suprised everyone doesnt know the ned deal. i lived in florida for a couple years and everyone there knows the deal.
ned is real. he is related to manson (father in law i believe). he is the actual guy on the red carpet. hes not in the studio very much caues hes an old retiered dude. manson does do his character for the bits on the radio. if you listen to some of the old bubba shows, ned (the actual guy) did spots on the show and after he got older, manson took over. so i guess you can say he is real and fake. i think everyone should have the sence to know that the guy on the radio talking is a "voice" impression. guests on the bubba show lets you know manson is doing ned all the time. a couple weeks ago hogan was in studio (the same day mansons wife was in studio making diner) and after the break hulk said to manson "hey ned how did you get a hot wife like that?" and manson said in ned voice "it must be my big cock." that wasnt a slip, thats just a in house joke.

"Ned" is just as real as "Bubba" and "Manson". They are all radio personalities and they are meant to be entertainment. Do we argue about KISS not being demons from outer space? No. Why? Becuase it's stupid. Sit back and relax, it's just a radio show.

If you REALLY want to get the truth, arrange a petition in which you and hundreds and thousands of others say they will not renew their Sirius subscribtions unless Bubba fesses up about Ned. Maybe then you might get the truth.

Normally I ban people who "with all due respect" me but for once I feel you actually mean it. here is my take on ned. after hours of listening to new and saved shows, i dont really care how real the ned character is and i dont want to find out. it used to really bother me not knowing how real he was. first i thought it was a total gimmick. then i heard that he was showing up for appearances but wasnt talking. then i heard that he had one liners/zingers and sounded like the ned on the air. then i thought, well maybe he did appearances but didnt have the energy to do a daily show and do bits. then i heard he was spotted in the buiding from a window a few times. then i thought, well, does he go into the studio, and if he does, does someone else do his voice and/or bits. then i thought, does someone else, say manson, help write some of his stuff. i have found this out. the more i listen to the show, the more i dont care how "real" he is. i dont really want to find out how real he is. isnt it that much funnier if everyone goes through the trouble of hiding the world's longest bit in radio? i mean, if any part, no matter how small, of ned is not real, it is just that much funnier. i dont know how to explain it, but maybe some of the original fans of the bubba show from tampa can help explain it because they have been fans longer. for me, it makes the ned character that much funnier and interesting not knowing totally everything about him and how real he is. i think that if the ned character came out on video and explained everything and started showing up on bubbaraw, etc., a lot of people would be disappointed knowing how real he was. i think that knowing everything about ned would totally ruin ned. i like thinking he may be "shy" in a sense or truly doesnt care to know that many people. i know that im not too people friendly just because most people are leeches, etc. maybe he just doesnt want bothered. i mean, if people knew where he lived, etc., people would want to hang out and see him all the time, etc. maybe he just wants to do the show and thats it. for me in the end, after time, i have found that not knowing everything about ned makes his character and the show that much more interesting and funny. if ned is ned, then its funny the way he is, and how isolated he is, and i dont want to know. if he is a total work, then so be it, its funny. just think how much more interesting the show is and how much more you get drawn in to his bits/character not knowing. it is just plain and simple a lot more interesting not knowing. that is just my perspective over time, and i just started listening when the bubba show joined sirius. and what a jackpot the show is. imagine if stern didnt hire him. it took a lot of guts for stern to do so, and a lot of humility. just think of how much more you bubba fans have been entertained and what a nice surprise it was signing on to sirius for stern and not knowing anything about bubba the love sponge but the name, and the one or two mentions stern had of him over the years. look at how great the show is, including ned, whether he is "real" or not. ned is real. he is a part of the show almost on a daily basis in one way or another, and he makes the show that much more whole/better. have fun with ned!!!!
