Jets
Packers
Giants
Steelers
Not too sure about the Jets, but oh, well.
No way are the Giants going down. They got through their funk and are now playing their best football. The refs erased 2 TDs with non-existant holding and Kerry made a dumb pass into the endzone that got intercepted (early in the first half), so the score doesn't really reflect how good they were last week.
PLUS, they've got Dixon back in (WR) and Shockey is getting better every week. Giants defense is better than anyone will admit. They're definitely going to cream them.
:D

MisterFacetious 01-03-2003, 10:28 PM You've got to be kidding me right? Gimme a break. They'll show how bad they are bro.
Not kidding. I had them giving ten to the vikings and they barely squeaked by them, and they stumbled into the playoffs after a great first 2 thirds of a season....momentum is DEFINITELY not on their side...and even though Atlanta backed in, and the games gonna be at Lambeau, I look for Michael Vick to punish the Pack.
In other words, go with Green Bay, because I'm as bad as Artie...
Fenwick3 01-04-2003, 01:03 AM Bill Simmons of ESPN.com just picked all four of my teams... hot damn!

MisterFacetious 01-04-2003, 01:17 AM I just realized you're from Alaska, do you even know what football is?
Well, we play a version using a stuffed elk bladder as the ball, but the game usually ends after it's kicked 2 or 3 times...

Herbie Verstnks 01-04-2003, 03:07 AM this year in the NFL is so filled with parity I don't think anyone has a friggin clue who's gonna win. exactly AK, thats why all jets fans should get ready to have their team bounced out of the playoffs by the colts this weekend. this week the jets are the team that according to the "experts" is the best in the AFC and we all know what happens when the "experts" get behind a certain team-that's right, they fall flat on their faces. so get ready JETS fans.

I didnt get to the post account of I was getting dns errors on this page and a few others but in all honesty my picks wouldnt have been great anyhow beacuse I would have had the JETS, PACKERS, BROWNS and GIANTS
I cant believe that the browns lost that game !!! Being a Pats fan I didnt want to see the Steelers advance... they only prove how much they "cry" about things by throwing two red flags in the first minute of the game.
I hope the Jets win it all seeing the Pats are out of it. Who do the Jets get next week?? Tennesse?

Ahem. I told you why I liked Atlanta. Or, why I didnt like the Packers.
Was I wrong? The Packers are the worst 12 and 4 team EVER.
Go back to the 14 game schedule and find a worse team with a .750 winning percentage.
THEY STINK.

There's just no way you can put the word EVER in there.
If you watched the game there were 2-3 miscues that changed the course of the game. I'm not saying we were unfairly beaten or anything like that, but a few of those things don't happen and it's a different game. There's no way we're the worst 12-4 team EVER.
Thorazine 01-06-2003, 07:53 PM Nah, it's not that they stink, but over the last month Favre has not had the desire to play.
If you watch the games of the last month, he holds back, makes throws he knows he shouldn't, basically just no fire for the game. He just looks like he's in there going thru the motions.
Maybe he's ready to retire, we'll find out today, but Favre is an outstanding QB, but he seems like he's lost the desire.
Hmmmm . . . . thankfully you guys got Mrs. Glenn from us, see what a cancer he is to the team now? He sucks the life and drive out of a franchise heh heh

You're right AK, they're not the worst 12-4 team ever... but they were soundly beaten... the only way 2-3 miscues change that game against Atlanta is if the 3 miscues are the 3 TD's they gave up. The Pack were never the same after Ahman Green got hurt and it killed the running game, and it made Favre force throws, that's all.
I think the other problem was even after the Jets loss, there was no urgency, since the game didn't mean anything super substantial.
But hey, at least they didn't blow a 24-point lead or anything ;-)

I couldn't agree more with what you said on both topics. I am so god damn pissed at Glenn. The guy doesn't even finish routes! What a fuckin bastard, I hate him.
For the first time in many many years I was thinking about what quarterback we can get yesterday, it's somewhat sad knowing the era is coming to an end.

You guys have been spoiled, you've had the one QB in the league who, for the past decade, really hasn't done much wrong... he's the one guy I'm mortally afraid of betting against...

Uhhh, ok. Heheheh.
Seriously, though, you (like most folks) look at the NFL through the eyes of a fan. I look at it through the eyes of a degenerate gambler. I'm only a fan of the team I have a wager on. (Love those Jets this week!!!)
Believe me, after the Jets over the Colts, WHOEVER played the Packers looked to beat them. They were a beaten team for the last 6 weeks of the season, waitin to be put out of their misery.

I'm definitely not disagreeing with the fact that they were soundly beaten but the second touchdown was a blocked punt and the third was due to the fumble on the punt return and the falcons got the ball deep in green bay territory. Those plays don't happen and the momentum doesn't sway to the falcons side. But that's playoff football.

I know man, I've never taken him for granted, it's been a blast watching him walk out onto the field every sunday for the team I root for and do things that are just insane, I know I've been spoiled.
Uhhh, ok. Heheheh.

Dude, forget about the 27 Atlanta scored, Green Bay scored 7. SEVEN!!!!
They stink. Get over it. I mean, I feel for you, and I'll give you something to rag on me about: I'm a Red Sox fan. That's the only team I root for. (I WILL, however, bet against them, if the price is right).

All right all right, we agree to disagree. I could go into the injury issue too but I won't. We were beaten badly and I accept it, come on next year.
Craig Mack 01-06-2003, 08:05 PM OHHHHHHHHH WHAT A WEEKEND!
Its starts off great with Green Bay getting eliminated. Now I had too goals for these playoffs. 1. Green Bay losing. 2. San Francisco winning. For a while there, it looked like I was going to have to live with just the first goal. But dont count my Niners out! Niners-Giants has to be one of the greatest games I have seen...at least in the past 10 years. What makes the victory even sweeter is that the Giants lost their chances at winning the game because of the to-flamboyant-for-his-own-good, white trash Jeremy Shockey missing a perfect pass from Kerry Collins that would have been a touchdown. Leave it to the hardest working man in the NFL, Terrell Owens to pump up his teamates at half time. I think San Fran bumped into the formula for winning big games last night. All of the Niner teams of the past, led by the two greatest QB's ever, Montana & Young, relied heavily on the pass. In the 2nd half, Garcia finally opened his eyes, and saw Owens and the gang running out there looking for the ball. What happens when the Niners rely heavily on the pass....you win football games! Now with Green Bay out, I like San Fran's chances...but its not over yet.
AK....must have been a great weekend for you...What happened to your boys?
My picks for next week....
Oakland Raiders
Pittsburgh Steelers
San Francisco 49ers
Philadelphia Eagles

All good things come to an end...I know this all too well....
But with the way the Green Bay organization is...I wouldnt worry too much....
Fenwick3 01-06-2003, 08:13 PM I just thought of something... with Shockey hating homos as much as he does, do you think it threw him off playing in San Francisco?
And every time I see him, I think he looks like Brian Wilson...
AK....must have been a great weekend for you...What happened to your boys?
Well I've just been informed that they're the worst 12-4 team in the history of football, I was shocked to find this out.
Let's just say I was quite bummed about it but life goes on. Nice comeback though for the niners. I can't believe it bro but I actually want them to win it. Never thought I'd say that.
I forget that you've had to go through two eras ending with Montana and Young so you know how it feels. I hope we can pick someone up and move forward instead of moving back.

Well, good to hear your rooting for the right team... ;)
Our transitional period was a tough one. When Montana packed his bags for Kansas City, I've never felt as much emptiness. The only times I rooted against the Niners in my life was when the played Montana's Chiefs...which Montana ripped them up...
But, going from Montana to Young wasnt too bad, but the hatred I had for Young the first couple of years made it hard. But when Young retired, fugetaboutit...I've tried to block out a couple of years so I dont remember the horrible 2 or so seasons the had. Thanks god we got rid of Elvis Grback! Watching TV this weekend, alot of people were comparing Jeff Garcia to Montana...I dont think so...Jeff Garcia will never be the player that the Great Joe was...no one will ever be. He does remind me of Steve Young, especially with the way he runs the ball. But I think he has quite a few more years before I can consider him to be near the same level as the Big 2....
Favre retiring? I dont think so...I'll believe that when I see it...hes still got a few good years left in him, unfortunetly
I agree with you about Favre, but the fact that we have to start looking for another quarterback is hard to take, I've never even had to remotely think about that position with him in there. We need a god damn receiving corps that's worth a damn! Driver's nice but Glenn is a damn cancer.
Thorazine 01-06-2003, 08:34 PM Glenn is an amazing receiver when he wants to be, only problem is he hasn't wanted to be since his rookie year with the Pats.
He pulls plays, don't show an effort, and misses tons of passes. He isn't reliable in the health factor either. He seems to always have phantom injuries that keeps him sidelined.
But I ain't bitter heh heh
I'm just glad the Pats handed him off. He causes too much disruption for a team with his antics and prima donna shit.
Nursegrrl8 01-06-2003, 08:36 PM GO EAGLES!! :)

Michael Angelo 01-06-2003, 09:27 PM -Jets are unstoppable right now.

From ESPN.com...
Favre says he's coming back for another season
Two days after a disappointing playoff exit, Brett Favre announced Monday he will return for another season with the Packers.
There had been speculation that Favre might decide to retire, but the future Hall of Fame quarterback followed through on his initial intentions to come back and play a 13th season.
Favre struggled a bit during the second half of the season after being slowed by a knee injury. The Packers lost to the Falcons 27-7 in the NFC wild card round of the playoffs on Saturday. It was the first home playoff loss for the Packers in team history after 13 victories.
For just the third time in his career, he didn't talk to reporters after a game, fueling speculation about his future.
"As I said during the season, I have every intention to come back,'' he said Monday.
"Right now I'm playing great,'' he added. "This team has a chance, and I'm having fun. So that's how I'm going to leave it.''
There also has been speculation that the Packers might try to draft Florida's Rex Grossman and groom him as a replacement for Favre. ESPN.com learned last week that Grossman will turn pro. Grossman will make a formal announcement this afternoon.
Ron Wolf, a consultant for the Packers and their former general manager, told ESPN's Chris Mortensen last week that Grossman reminds him of Favre more than any college quarterback he's seen in the past 10 years.
Favre started all 16 games for the Packers this season, leading them to the North Division title. Favre threw 27 touchdown passes with 16 interceptions for 3,658 yards.
Favre has started an NFL-record 190 consecutive games at quarterback, including 17 playoffs. He has thrown for 3,000 or more yards a league-best 11 straight seasons. However, Favre fell to 35-1 in cold-weather games on Saturday.
"As I've done over my career, in time it will heal and I'll come back and we'll go on and start a new year,'' he said.
He was named a Pro Bowl starter this season when he finished second to Oakland quarterback Rich Gannon in a close MVP vote. It would have been Favre's fourth such award.

actually it was the artiebeast that kept saying it was 50. even when robin said the first half o/u was 23.5 John said "so the total is 47" the beast insisted it was 50

There isn't just one line for games. There are many lines. A bookie might have the line at 47, a casino might have it at 50, and the USA Today might have it at 48. Not only that, but the lines may change between now and gametime.

Fine, you find me 50, and I'll get 47. I'll bet the over and you bet the under, and if the game falls 48 or 49, we both win.
The worst we can do is one win one lose, and we'd owe the juice.
Chicklets 01-10-2003, 09:21 PM GO RAIDERS!!!!!!!!!!!!! I fucking hate the Jets, and I'm a fan of whoever is playing them.
J-E-T-S SUCK! SUCK! SUCK!

MisterFacetious 01-11-2003, 03:21 PM OK, in today's indulgence of my "artie's disease" I went with Tennessee minus SIX...can you believe it went from 4 to 6 in one fucking day? Anyway, minus 6 for 200....and if that wins, I went with the over on the Eagles game (39)....
MisterFacetious 01-11-2003, 03:42 PM Ladies and gentlemen, I believe, after watching that first Tennesee drive, that the Titans will win the Super Bowl.
Of course, that's if they win today.

Yaeh, 14-zip and Pittsburgh looks terrible, and they aint platin the Brownies this week....
I think Vick is almost as good as McNair right now, so I think Atlanta will score some....but 7 and a half was a tough number so I went small on the over....if both games win for me, I'm even for the season!!!!!!
MisterFacetious 01-11-2003, 04:42 PM 14-10 and I'm not worried much.... :bs:

I dont care if he's purple with pink and green polka dots...he's the best in the NFL...you can have Gannon, Garcia, Pennington...I'll take McNair, with MacNabb and Vick not far behind....
Black QB's rule these days.
PHILLYKING11 01-11-2003, 08:09 PM go titans. jeff reed kick me some long field goals though buddy (fantasy kicker)
these announcers suck ass. dan dierdorf quote of the day, (referring to a good play) "mcnair turned something into nothing, .....(long pause)...... back into something....."

Dick Stockton:

MisterFacetious 01-13-2003, 10:07 AM Raiders and Eagles in the big dance
I like the Eagles and the Titans.
Timmy 01-13-2003, 10:13 AM The best part of the Pitt game was watching Cower bitch and moan like o fucking crybaby.
The penalty rules dont change just cause your in overtime. Thats what he gets for playing games with timeouts and tryingto ice the kicker. Its bad karma.

Cowher is such an ass...did you see at the end of the game where he just ran off didn't shake the other guys hand or anything like that......the whole game just pissed me off the steeler had numerous chances to win the game but no no no dammit :( :( that last call was bullshit tho...i bet the refs just wanted to go home instead of pissing around in overtime.
Thorazine 01-13-2003, 10:20 AM Why was the last call bullshit?
Last I knew, running into the kicker was a penalty in the NFL.
Sure, most kickers are actors when it comes to that shit, but it was still a penalty
Sammy Girl 01-13-2003, 10:25 AM he ran into him after the ball was kicked????? Thats still a penalty?????? And a lot of people that i've talked to say that call was bs....but maybe because we're all from pittsburgh and we wanted them to win haha...fuck the titans anyways they aren't gonna make it to the superbowl.
I found it, but I think it's too late to ask for picks this week since most normal people like myself don't sign on anywhere other than work and are probably heading home for the weekend.
Y2KOAM 01-17-2003, 06:29 PM raiders
