You know that doesn't seem like a bad idea on their part. Try and marginalize Sirius as the "dirty" satellite people, while XM is a the "good" people's choice.....interesting.

It's bullshit, but it might cause some of the god fearing freaks out there to go with XM.

I heard their new campaign slogan was "XM -- FOR FUCKING LOSERS!"

I think Sirius has some Christian programming coming out soon, so this may be XM trying to answer that.

In any case, we need there to be two competitors. That's what keeps these companies "honest".

The oxymoron thread is somewhere else. Christians have just as much right to listen to good radio that appeals to them as Stern fans have the right to listen to raunchy radio. :)

My brother is selling his XM set up on EBAY after switching to Sirius.

It's the reciever, hardwired FM modulator, Boom Box, two antenna's, antenna adapters, the whole shooting match. He cant even get $50 for it. Seems nobody wants XM.

I'm glad to hear it. I guess I'm just not following you then. It was just a random comment. I'm a Christian myself and there have been times when I'd tune into Christian program and have enjoyed it. I'm not a far-out-there Christian, as I tend to back Howard's rights more than the radicals who want him silenced, just saying. Sometimes something inspirational can make you feel good.

By your oxymoron, I'm not sure if you're saying anything related to Christianity is crap, or if the Christian programming you've heard wasn't good. I've heard some good, and some just too radical and hypocritical..but that's with all programming.

Revolution on 67 (billed as "Christian Rock") is very good alternative rock and hardly religious at all.

I don't consider his show "raunchy". Not sure if many of his real fans would use that word to describe his genius.

To be fair they did OK for XM
Obviously not at Howards level but nobody else did either
I would not be surprised if they are the top listened to XM talk show but compared to Howard they fail

That is why I am destroying my MyFi after I cancel both mine and my girlfriend's subscriptions next weekend. Just out of curiousity, which unit are you trying to sell? I'm cancelling/destroying both a MyFi and a Roady2 (my girlfriend's) unit and I sure as hell know the Roady2 wont sell for anything since they are so damn cheap looking.

Exactly, why do people care if XM or Sirius is "winning" (unless you work or invest in one of them). Hopefully they both do well and stay in competition. If one were to go away, what do you think would happen to sub prices??

Can someone please explain something to me?

I have both Sirius and XM.

Howard has stated that he went to Sirius because the guys at XM refused to match the Sirius offer.

He also stated that if he had gone with XM, that it would have been game over for Sirius.

Isn't that an admission that XM was the better company and where you would have preferred to go if they matched the offer.

His move to Sirius hasn't been game over for XM.

According to most reports I've read, the rate of growth for both companies are now back to what they were before Stern got there.

Which means, at this point in time, there are no signs that Sirius is going to catch XM with as many subscribers.

Unless of course, they made some other big moves. But the Howard move already happened. Can it happen again. I don't know.

Also, I don't see either satellite company buying the other anytime soon.

They are both bleeding cash, and will be for awhile. Not many companies try to merge with other companies who are also in the RED.

Unless there was some value in having one subcription, and getting both.

I think that that has very little value.

It's not like people are not subscribing because they can't decide.

They're not subscribing because they don't want to add a hanging brick off their dashboard, or they simply don't want to pay for radio.

We'll see.

Peace.
