I’m not defending all the attention this horse is getting but we all put more value on some things than others. I assume you eat steak, hamburger or chicken but have you ever considered eating Cat, dog or rat? Are rats considered more cute or lovable than a fluffy little puppy so it makes it ok to kill them? You can’t just blame disease or everyone in India would be dead.

Have you ever killed a spider, fly or termite? Why are they considered less sacred than say an average household animal? That being said most horses are shot when their leg breaks but how many pets are taken to the vet and nursed back to heath when hurt? I’m not sure how value was ever determined in the past but we do apply it in every day at this point.

Give me a break, because YOU think it should be this way we should give up our freedoms to race dogs, horses, birds, fish, or anything else? Well I don't think people should be able to say profanity so I think it should be illegal on all radio and T.V.

Why should we allow racing of any kind? We are having problems with our fuel supply and global warming. I don't think that we should be racing cars wasting more fuel and polluting our environment more. (I don't really believe this but it is not a stretch because someone out there will try and pass a law against it.)

interesting points. im not quite sure, but i dont think nascar, or any other racing uses conventional gasoline blends. i think it is more alcohol based, but im not sure. it really boils down to the $$

Horse racing is just a beautiful sport that is why we care about Barbaro.

I like NASCAR just like most of the other people here, but I have a true affection for horse racing.

To see what happened to Barbaro was awful. To see the wreck that killed the past 3 NASCAR drivers is awful too! In my opinion both types of racing are great and should continue. Just like we mourned Dale Sr., Kyle's son & Kenny Irwin we should morn what happened to Barbaro even if he is able to continue living or not. If they have to put him down it will be a sad day in my house!

Trust me, I'm not comparing a horses life to human life, but what a great athlete that horse is. I know that will bring out all the "Horses are not Athlete" haters, but we all have opinions that differ from the others around us.
