I can't speak for Fontana but I know at Daytona, Talladega and at Dover, I prefer to sit up high enough to see the whole track.
My .02 worth.

Ya in Fontana you want to go higher. The luxury suites above the pit and all the RVs in the infield tend to block the back stretch the closer you are to the track. If you can get about half way up its a bit cheaper then the top and you can still get a good view.

the higher the better for most nascar races .... you want to see the race when the cars are all spread out .

Here's the thing. Every once in a while, especially if it is in a turn, it is cool to sit down front. You get a real appreciation for what is going on with the tires and the throttle.
I am going this weekend to Charlotte and my seats for the Busch race are at the flagstand 20 rows up and my tickets for the 600 are in the first row in turn 4. It is fun to go home with tire rubber in your lungs every now and then.
In any event, enjoy jjust being there, hanging with your buds and drinkin beers. Sometimes the race is secondary.

Good post question,,as I might go to Fontana myself.

I plan on going Friday for Qualifying and Practise to get a feel of the place as I`ve nuver been there, then possibly the next two days.

Have a good time there and enjoy the race

Go high and close to the end of a row if possible.
I've got my first pit passes for the Busch race at Charlotte this weekend. Looking forward to being that close to the the cars. They aren't hot passes so I'll head to the suite, but maybe the next time.

The corners aren't bad either. Don't have to keep looking back and forth to see the whole track, it's all in view. Thay being said I haven't been to Fontana but it worked great for me at several other tracks. Have fun and drink a cold one for me!
Enjoy those passes Smoke...it's a whole different experience!

Like the other guys have said, usually higher is better in NASCAR. At Bristol, Homestead and Daytona this holds true. Let us know. Regarding the drive along remember to shift

I've been to a few races, I like to sit a little higher, easier to see that way.

yeah, higher up always gets a better view. the only time I was lower was a friend hooked me up with pit passes for Dover one weekend. couldn't see much but was real close to the cars and the drivers. got some great pics.

Any Seats over about row 22 are pretty good at California Speedway. My tickets are row 43 and I have trouble seeing the cars going into turn three. The twilight race is great but be ready to party all day and night cause its a bitch leaving that place after the race.

Take the metro link to get in and out of there. Park at the train station and you can be back to your car pretty quick after the checker falls. At least thats they way it was for the 2nd. race about 8 or 9 years ago. And I parked in San Bernardino.

Go up high. I go to Pocono and Dover. At Pocono when your in the grandstands all you see is the roof of all the cars and they're going by at 190 mph hugging the wall. Dover is great! I have reserved seating every year for the September race. Anywhere at a short track is usually good.

better off high up...ive been to pocono, sat pretty close to the bottom...didnt see much once the cars passed lol..pretty cool tho to be up close..another note..traffic gettin in and out of the place was horrible..I remember sitting in traffic for 4 hours..to get through the last 10 miles to get to the track
