View Full Version : Busch Series... Saturday Night Special jlohlinger 05-27-2006, 06:23 PM Smoke and McMurray have tagged the wall so far... 11 laps in... should be an interesting night... cbrad00 05-27-2006, 06:27 PM That was a hard hit for Stewart, that fucked up the rear end of that car, I think it may be a long night! 5hradaylistener 05-27-2006, 06:39 PM Smoke still a class act. Miller 05-27-2006, 06:44 PM Tony and McMurray are being sent to the hospital for xray’s. McMurray’s head and Tony’s shoulder. 5hradaylistener 05-27-2006, 06:46 PM He will be a sore puppy tomorrow I'm sure! I'd like to see Smoke and some others get in better shape. It doesn't prevent everything but being fit in hits like thes guys take, can sure prevent a lot of injury. Not all but a lot. cbrad00 05-27-2006, 06:46 PM I always thought there was something wrong with McMurray's head... :p cbrad00 05-27-2006, 06:48 PM He will be a sore puppy tomorrow I'm sure! I'd like to see Smoke and some others get in better shape. It doesn't prevent everything but being fit in hits like thes guys take, can sure prevent a lot of injury. Not all but a lot. Smoke used to be in pretty good shape, I think he has started going down hill in the past 2 - 3 years. It definately is better for them to help prevent injury the better the shape they are in. Look at Mark Martin!! IheartNY 05-27-2006, 06:49 PM Hi guys...im watching Nascar...i'm pretty much hooked i think.. Hope everybody's weekend is going well :hw: 5hradaylistener 05-27-2006, 06:49 PM Smoke used to be in pretty good shape, I think he has started going down hill in the past 2 - 3 years. It definately is better for them to help prevent injury the better the shape they are in. Look at Mark Martin!! Funny you say that. I recently started working with a trainer. And I have used mark martin as my goal for 50 years old. That man is in great shape. 5hradaylistener 05-27-2006, 06:54 PM Hi guys...im watching Nascar...i'm pretty much hooked i think.. Hope everybody's weekend is going well :hw: Good thing to be hooked on! Miller 05-27-2006, 06:54 PM Dale Jarrett is in almost as good of shape as Martin is. Tony isn’t in the best shape but that was a damn hard lick. They are worried about his shoulder and maybe upper ribs. Being in shape probably wouldn’t have helped him here. IheartNY 05-27-2006, 06:55 PM Good thing to be hooked on! Yes it is....better than a lot of other things that come to mind.... cbrad00 05-27-2006, 06:55 PM Dale Jarrett is in almost as good of shape as Martin is. Tony isn’t in the best shape but that was a damn hard lick. They are worried about his shoulder and maybe upper ribs. Being in shape probably wouldn’t have helped him here. I think that you are right Miller, just the way that the car hit the wall, and the way that he was jolted around in the car, it wouldn't have made much difference. DILLIGAF3 05-27-2006, 06:57 PM whos winning ?? cbrad00 05-27-2006, 06:58 PM Matt Kenseth is leading right now, he has led 25 laps so far. 5hradaylistener 05-27-2006, 06:59 PM I didn't say all. But a lot.Being fit and lean also means less mass to be forced around and it holds body parts together during impacts. Trust me I know first hand. But once again not all. I just think about future instances and possibilities. DILLIGAF3 05-27-2006, 06:59 PM thank you still at work no tv. cbrad00 05-27-2006, 07:02 PM I know they are running the smaller fuel cells on the Cup cars tomorrow night, are they doing the same with the Busch cars? I don't remember hearing this. 5hradaylistener 05-27-2006, 07:03 PM I know they are running the smaller fuel cells on the Cup cars tomorrow night, are they doing the same with the Busch cars? I don't remember hearing this. 22 gal on the Busch cars cbrad00 05-27-2006, 07:09 PM Wow, John Andretti was the only Busch regular that will not be racing tomorrow night that qualifyed in the top 20 for the Busch race tonight. That is crazy! 23 Cup regulars in the Busch race tonight, that is sickening!! Miller 05-27-2006, 07:09 PM I didn't say all. But a lot.Being fit and lean also means less mass to be forced around and it holds body parts together during impacts. Trust me I know first hand. But once again not all. I just think about future instances and possibilities. You aren’t wrong with your statement. A heavier person would have more mass to stop however muscle weighs more than fat so it’s possible someone like Dale Jarrett weights the same or more than Tony. I see your point though. I think it was as much the angle in this case as it was anything. Much like what happened to Dale Sr. I still to this day can’t believe he died in that wreck when I see it. Miller 05-27-2006, 07:12 PM Wow, John Andretti was the only Busch regular that will not be racing tomorrow night that qualifyed in the top 20 for the Busch race tonight. That is crazy! 23 Cup regulars in the Busch race tonight, that is sickening!! I know this has been debated over and over but I don’t mind seeing the cup drivers in these races. Look at the stands, they are full. I don’t think that would happen if it were just Busch drivers. To me this means the series has greater exposure which is a good thing. cbrad00 05-27-2006, 07:13 PM You aren’t wrong with your statement. I agree about Dale Earnhardt's wreck, what has always had me curious, that no one can know for sure, is if he had a HANS device, or a full face helmet, maybe that might have helped, a lot of doctors say they don't think it would have made a difference, but who knows. We had seen him walk away from much worse looking wrecks. They always say that the worst way to hit the wall is head on, especially at 170 mph. 5hradaylistener 05-27-2006, 07:17 PM It's not the impact that does the damage as much as the SUDDEN DECELERATION.. cbrad00 05-27-2006, 07:17 PM I know this has been debated over and over but I don’t mind seeing the cup drivers in these races. Look at the stands, they are full. I don’t think that would happen if it were just Busch drivers. To me this means the series has greater exposure which is a good thing. I agree with you on that point, but these Busch races don't pay that much to begin with, and when the high power teams like Hendrick, Roush, Childress and Evernham come into the Busch series and give their drivers superior equipment, obviously the cup drivers will have a better chance to win the race and win the higher amounts of money. Also, more than half the field are Nextel Cup regulars, that prevents drivers like Aaron Fike, David Gilliland, Stanton Barrett, Joel Kauffman, Eric McClure, Kevin Conway and Kertus Davis from making the race, getting experience and trying to get some of the precious prize money. Miller 05-27-2006, 07:18 PM I agree about Dale Earnhardt's wreck, what has always had me curious, that no one can know for sure, is if he had a HANS device, or a full face helmet, maybe that might have helped, a lot of doctors say they don't think it would have made a difference, but who knows. We had seen him walk away from much worse looking wrecks. They always say that the worst way to hit the wall is head on, especially at 170 mph. I am convinced he would have walked away if he had a HANS. He wouldn’t run full face helmet because he thought it would break his neck. He was slow to adapt to new things and I think it cost him in this case. I would have thought he would have died in other wrecks or Rusty would have died in his dead roll at dega but they walked away. This was just the right angle for the right conditions I guess. The Dale Sr wreck still doesn't look like one that kill someone to me but i guess the cam doesn't tell the whole story. Miller 05-27-2006, 07:19 PM It's not the impact that does the damage as much as the SUDDEN DECELERATION.. well wait dude....the impact causes the deceleration so in the end it is the impact. 5hradaylistener 05-27-2006, 07:23 PM well wait dude....the impact causes the deceleration so in the end it is the impact. No the end is the deceleration the impact comes first..But you are right .The Impact is what causes the deceleration but the actual trauma if from the deceleration. It is not like the body hits the wall, the car hits the wall. The deceleration causes the injury to the body.Dale Sr's injury would be a text book sudden deceleration trauma... 5hradaylistener 05-27-2006, 07:25 PM But there are contact injuries too inside the car.I am refering more to internal and head injuries and neck... Miller 05-27-2006, 07:29 PM No the end is the deceleration the impact comes first..But you are right .The Impact is what causes the deceleration but the actual trauma if from the deceleration. It is not like the body hits the wall, the car hits the wall. The deceleration causes the injury to the body.Dale Sr's injury would be a text book sudden deceleration trauma... I see your point and I’m not saying you are wrong but wouldn’t you think the flips that Richard Petty and Rusty took would have caused enough whipping of the head to break ones neck? When is the last time we saw two track bars break in one night? 5hradaylistener 05-27-2006, 07:38 PM I see your point and I’m not saying you are wrong but wouldn’t you think the flips that Richard Petty and Rusty took would have caused enough whipping of the head to break ones neck? When is the last time we saw two track bars break in one night? You'd think for sure. But think about a roller coaster. If the G forces stay going in one direction the head and neck migh not actually be doing a lot of moving around. But I think that is a bit far reaching too.Stong muscles can prevent things like that from happening.Lots of flips are no big deal compared to flipping with lots of impacts and changes of direction. But hey I have seen little wrecks be bad and big wrecks be no biggie.I guess you never know??? And I can't remember last time I say 2 track bars break. Miller 05-27-2006, 07:38 PM Good News: Tony is released from the hospital and is ok. 5hradaylistener 05-27-2006, 07:39 PM That's one ..Pray for Jamie too... Miller 05-27-2006, 07:41 PM You'd think for sure. But think about a roller coaster. If the G forces stay going in one direction the head and neck migh not actually be doing a lot of moving around. And I can't remember last time I say 2 track bars break. Remember the truck wreck...Bodine I think....where the truck pretty much exploded on impact? I didn't think he would live through that...well...he almost didn't. They are blaming the trackbar deal on the bolts but something must be causeing that. One bad bolt, ok but two? Miller 05-27-2006, 07:43 PM That's one ..Pray for Jamie too... Yeah i don't want to see anyone get hurt...well maybe the Bush brothers but i'd rather it come from an asswoopin. 5hradaylistener 05-27-2006, 07:44 PM Remember the truck wreck...Bodine I think....where the truck pretty much exploded on impact? I didn't think he would live through that...well...he almost didn't. They are blaming the trackbar deal on the bolts but something must be causeing that. One bad bolt, ok but two? That crash was HORRIBLE. If you are into NHRA pro stock at all, do you remember Bruce Allen and Kenny Koretksky's crash last year??? That was way horrible... 5hradaylistener 05-27-2006, 07:45 PM Yeah i don't want to see anyone get hurt...well maybe the Bush brothers but i'd rather it come from an asswoopin.   5hradaylistener 05-27-2006, 07:47 PM http://www.metacafe.com/watch/37293/racing_car_crash/ Miller 05-27-2006, 07:48 PM That crash was HORRIBLE. If you are into NHRA pro stock at all, do you remember Bruce Allen and Kenny Koretksky's crash last year??? That was way horrible... I got out of NHRA in the past few years but I remember several bad wrecks form that series. Shirley (top fuel) had a bad one but it was mostly fire if I remember correctly. Many years ago my cousin took me to Jim Head’s garage in Westerville Oh. The guys fired up the engine for me and it was fun I have to tell you. Miller 05-27-2006, 07:50 PM    Keep in mind I am a hard core Rusty fan and it makes me sick to see kurt in the car with the same number. Kewl....fire on pit lane. 5hradaylistener 05-27-2006, 07:50 PM OOOO DEAD SHORT!!! cbrad00 05-27-2006, 07:50 PM Yeah i don't want to see anyone get hurt...well maybe the Bush brothers but i'd rather it come from an asswoopin. Yeah no kidding, let Jimmy Spencer loose on them!! :) Miller 05-27-2006, 07:51 PM Kewl....fire on pit lane. Battery wired wrong….someone is getting fired for that. 5hradaylistener 05-27-2006, 07:52 PM McMurry realeased.. Awsome!!! cbrad00 05-27-2006, 07:52 PM Jamie McMurray treated and released from the hospital and on his way back to the track. Miller 05-27-2006, 07:52 PM Yeah no kidding, let Jimmy Spencer loose on them!! :) I didn't car for Spencer before that but now I love him! cbrad00 05-27-2006, 07:53 PM http://www.metacafe.com/watch/37293/racing_car_crash/ Wow, I had not seen that before, did the drivers survive that crash? That was brutal. 5hradaylistener 05-27-2006, 07:53 PM 17 Blowed up!!!! cbrad00 05-27-2006, 07:54 PM Aww, that is too bad for Kenseth!! Hate when those engines expire! 5hradaylistener 05-27-2006, 07:55 PM Wow, I had not seen that before, did the drivers survive that crash? That was brutal. A minor concussion bumps and bruises. Both wearing Hans.....Oh And one hand injury... Miller 05-27-2006, 07:56 PM Oh guys I have a question for you. What does Sirius getting NASCAR next year mean to you? How will it effect you? I probably won’t listen to qualifying because of Bubba but I will like hearing Bubba talk about it. Also I will watch the race most of the time but it will be very nice when I am traveling or for Monday races. 5hradaylistener 05-27-2006, 07:57 PM It means I will save 13 bucks a month when I cancel my XM.. cbrad00 05-27-2006, 07:59 PM Oh guys I have a question for you. Also I will watch the race most of the time but it will be very nice when I am traveling or for Monday races. I will definately listen to Tony's show with Matt Yocum. I will probably watch the race broadcast on TV and mute the TV and listen to the race on Sirius. Also if it works out, if Bubba ends up doing his show from some of the tracks on the Friday before race weekend, that will be awesome. It would also be nice for Monday races when I am at work, and if I can catch the race streaming on sirius.com that will be great, I work on a computer all day, but not somewhere I can have a radio on all of the time. IheartNY 05-27-2006, 08:03 PM See all you guys later...i'm gonna watch the rest of the race from the comfort of my couch... have a good weekend! Miller 05-27-2006, 08:04 PM It means I will save 13 bucks a month when I cancel my XM.. Shit just said on the TV LOL cbrad00 05-27-2006, 08:08 PM Oopps, they just broadcasted Jon Wood's crew chief saying shit on the teams radio! Good thing it's on FX and not Fox. 5hradaylistener 05-27-2006, 08:08 PM Ok, when and what do you currently listen to? If you mean as far as Nascar goes.I drive for a livin so when Bubba is over I will switch over (not a huge Farrell fan but listening more). The I listen to the talk shows they have for NASCAR like Dialed in, wide open, performance, Jimmy Johnson, Dale Jr. and so on. And I am a drag racer myself and when I am at the races I will check in to the XM to see how the Cup race is goin. cbrad00 05-27-2006, 08:08 PM I hope Nascar will be streamed, I would think they would being as popular as it is. Miller 05-27-2006, 08:10 PM Do you guys listen to Ferrall anymore? What in the hell happened to his daily thread? It struggles to get past 4 pages anymore. Hell our replay threads beat that. He seems ok, I hope that doesn’t represent the listeners he has. sabotage70 05-27-2006, 08:12 PM On the replays smoke didn't even hit the "soft walls". I've always wondered why they didn't continue the wall further out of the turns. 5hradaylistener 05-27-2006, 08:12 PM And on mondays XM broadcasts Inside Nextel cup, so If I am not home to see it on speed I will listen on XM, and on fridays I also listen to trackside and stuff.. Miller 05-27-2006, 08:14 PM On the replays smoke didn't even hit the "soft walls". I've always wondered why they didn't continue the wall further out of the turns. That is a good question. I’m sure cost has something to do with it but maybe they also don’t want to shorten the track on the straights and probably 90% of the wrecks happen going in or coming out of the corners. cbrad00 05-27-2006, 08:14 PM And on mondays XM broadcasts Inside Nextel cup, so If I am not home to see it on speed I will listen on XM, and on fridays I also listen to trackside and stuff.. XM broadcasts Trackside and the other shows that Speed broadcasts? That is cool, I hope Sirius does something like that, a lot of those shows just having the audio and not the video would make the shows 10 times better in my opinion. Hes a bit tough to get through sometimes for me.They talk a lot of sports and I am not a huge stick and ball sports guy so I lose interest there if it goes too long. But I have found myself listening more these days. But I think for me there just isn't enough screwin around and being stupid I guess. I will listen if it is interesting in the truck but I bring the radio in the house to finish Bubba if I get home early or Howard in the morning If I don't work or work late. But I don't turn on the radio in the house for Farrell?? Miller 05-27-2006, 09:01 PM Damn Harvick is ahead by 300 plus points cbrad00 05-27-2006, 09:03 PM 348, he could actually sit out one whole race, and he could finish 43rd in one race and still have a two point lead. It is crazy, he is building himself quite a cushion. I think he has only had one finish out of the top 10 so far this season in Busch. Miller 05-27-2006, 09:04 PM oh well i guess i am off to find something else on tv. see you guys tomorrow at 5 if anyone is interested. cbrad00 05-27-2006, 09:05 PM oh well i guess i am off to find something else on tv. see you guys tomorrow at 5 if anyone is interested. Fairly boring race. I don't see a whole lot of passing tomorrow either. Pits will be where the race is won with the smaller fuel cells. They were telling Kyle Busch on the radio that his tires showed no signs of wear. That new hard compound isn't going to be the problem this year. Don't know what happened to my boy Smoke. A hard lick into the wall. They think he might have run over a spring from the McMurray wreck and cut a tire, but they never could figure out the true cause. Hope he is OK for the 600. Mears has the engine miss because of low fuel not going to the pickup and gets dusted by Edwards. Mears ran out of gas completely on pit road after the race. Needed a couple of more caution laps and he could have won. Edwards was tough at the end. Funniest thing was that he didn't know he had won. Everyone is congratualting him and he still is hauling ass down the back stretch. He says, "Did I win?" He thought the hadn't taken the flag yet. Best scanner talk: Kyle Busch talking about buying a new ATV to "scare the neighborhood children" during the parade laps. Truex telling his spotter to do something about the 77 holding him up. The spotter says he tried and Martin says, "So that is how the cocksucker wants to play." And the best was teh meltdown from Harvick when his team had problems on pit road: "If that is the best we can god damn do, we might as well go the fuck home right now!" IheartNY 05-27-2006, 11:07 PM glad 2 c u back thank you JrDerhuntr - I'm glad to be back. ;) BVB 05-28-2006, 05:10 AM Tony is cleared to race tonight after being checked out at a local hospital. http://sports.espn.go.com/rpm/news/story?id=2460844 He may be sore as hell though.
