anyone going to watch this?? Personally I'm not a big fan of basketball so I make it interesting by betting on the games. I got the West -4. They are by far superior to the east but you never know. They better win.

Dr.Gonzo 02-09-2003, 07:22 PM If I want to watch a bunch of monkies run around I'll watch 2001. . . :brotha: :sfn: Herbie Verstnks 02-09-2003, 10:19 PM this has turned into a great game they are now in the secon dovertime FUGLY2 02-09-2003, 10:26 PM I like that Vince Carter has further proven that he is a pussy and gives in to any pressure. Not only does he fake an injury in almost every game he plays... not only does he give in to criticism about bolting the Canadian team and stays in Toronto, but after all of his posturing and bullshit about giving up a spot for MJ-he fucking ends up doing it. And it still won't change anything-he's still a phony, arrogant prick that won't win a ring. But he does get to join the Ewing/Malone/Stockton club. Carter sux i got him on my fantasy team and he has been hurt more games than he has played. He will Never be in Jordon's leauge. esp the way he is riding the IR in his early years. Iverson had a good game and T-mac was awsome. But KG was the man. OH fuckin Canada Craig Mack 02-10-2003, 08:17 AM Best All-Star Game I've seen in years. I was somewhat surprised on how the East dominated throughout most of the game. West has some big mutha fuckas. How can some of you say that basketball is boring? It is the most exciting sport around, well, maybe besides football. The only thing I didnt like about the whole all-star weekend is the slam dunk contest. Why dont the big guns get in there and show how its done. The contest is kinda boring with these young guys. I want to see more Jordan/Wilkins type contests. jlesh8 02-10-2003, 08:40 AM i'm so sick of all the jordan crap that goes on in the NBA.. right now, the guy is marginal at best, he shoots every time he touches the ball and is only out to promote is image and make more money. he won all his titles after the celtics and lakers dominated and before kobe, shaq and all the good players of today played. he's a great player, but not a god among men that all announcers and sponsors claim he is. Are you watcging old tapes of games? He may have shot a whole lot in the all-star game, but during the season...he's not even the #1 go to guy. He's been playing the point alot to move the ball around, and to specifically look for Stackhouse (when hes healthy) He score a lot of points only when the team needs him too. And its not like the dynasty Bulls didnt have stiff competion. The did beat the lakers (w/ magic in the front), the did beat a tough Portland team (with Clyde leading the way), the did beat a real tough Phoenix team (with Barkley up front), Seattle (Payton in his prime, along with a younger, slimmer, tougher Shawn Kemp), and the went through Utah twice (With Malone & Stockton finally making it to the big game). If you think those are pushovers, then you obviously are just making a statement without knowing the facts. With Magic and Bird in their hay-days, it would have been some classic games with the second "threepeat" bulls...but against the lakers of today...PUH-LEAZE! No contest. Put up Jordan a few years younger, with a younger Pippen, Rodman, Harper, Kukoc, Kerr, and the rest of the gang...LA wouldnt have a chance! jlesh8 02-10-2003, 09:05 AM i watch a lot of old game tapes, including kareem, bird, magic, robertson, all guys who played on teams that would beat the bulls. i'm not a laker or king fan, but either of those teams are better than any of the teams the bulls beat. barkley was great, but who was on teh team, dan majerle? kemp was a bust who got lucky with payton, stockton and malone benefitted from lack of competition. i dont hear all those guys constantly referring to themselves in the third person Craig Mack 02-10-2003, 09:07 AM i watch a lot of old game tapes, including kareem, bird, magic, robertson, all guys who played on teams that would beat the bulls. i'm not a laker or king fan, but either of those teams are better than any of the teams the bulls beat. barkley was great, but who was on teh team, dan majerle? kemp was a bust who got lucky with payton, stockton and malone benefitted from lack of competition. i dont hear all those guys constantly referring to themselves in the third person But are all these teams better than the Bulls? I dont think so. If you go way back to wilt and russell days...maybe there would be some problems. But any of todays teams...not better than the bulls.... jlesh8 02-10-2003, 09:12 AM how could the bulls answer teams like the 80's celtics and lakers, shaq, the kings team, not to mention russel's team, or wilt's team? if dr j played in teh mid 90's he'd be brning home titles. you're trying to compare kerr, harper and kukoc mchale, parrish and johnson? i'm not saying the bulls or jordan sucked, i'm saying they playedin a weaker era and creditted as the best team ever b/c of marketing and the media. Fenwick3 02-10-2003, 09:45 AM I just wanna say... 48 days til Opening Day, and thank god!!! ;) FUGLY2 02-10-2003, 12:30 PM I don't think any fair comparisoin can be made between temas and players from the 70s and 80s and what has gone on in the past 10 years, primarily because of the preferential treatment the 'stars' get now. And it's not just basketball-it's baseball big time, and hockey to a lesser degree. There are just certain players that go to the free throw line anytime a rookie even breathes on them. And these players get to pad their numbers to make them look even more impressive (are you hearing me Karl Malone?). It has gotten to the point that I don't view NHL, MLB and NBA as legitimate sports anymore-it's more show/entertainment than actual competition and is about as real as boxing and wrestling. |
