Why advertise the hell out of something we already subscribe to, and what non-subscribers are not going to hear?

Spend the money on better TV ads.

OK lemmie splain to u monkeys...

a lotta people... not you.. but a lotta people have friends and listen to the radio together when they're at work or in the car so if they are diggin what they hear it might prompt them to purchase a sub and a commercial only reinforces that :hw:

Because they are trying to get subscribers to buy it as father's day gifts or other gifts, which isn't really a bad idea, for a little over $200.00 you can give someone a Starmate and a years subscription and you know they will enjoy it for the whole year, then each year you can re-up them if they liked it.

Weak explanation.

weak? that's the reason.

explain why else would you advertise

if they're not trying to get current sub owners to purchase who are they preaching to?

you didn't have an answer so like a child you said something stupid to to try to distract everyone from your own ignorance or lack of intelligence.

They're trying to sell gifts, and second subscriptions.
I wish my wife would fall for the ads: when we're out in her car, we're listening to (gack) NPR. :barf2:

I don't need to hear how great something is when I already own it. If it's great I'll tell people.

I already bought Sirius for 2 people and the commercials didn't drive me to do it.

The attractive thing about satallite radio is less commercials.

yea as of late they've also been pushing the extra $6.99 a month sub so your wife can give back your car she stole just for the Sirius.

Ok, then it's some sort of tax dodge where they buy advertising from themselves so they can show a bigger bottom line on advertising sales and then they write off the expense and it looks like they are doing something when they report to the shareholders.

um Sirius corp can't weigh their entire corporate value and future on word of mouth. Advertising plays some roll in the success of a product

Remember, Sirius is played in commercial establishments like grocery stores, restaurants and the like. Also with the rental car market and Dish Network there are people who hear it and don't have it.

And if you don't like commercials, pause whatever you're listening to, go drop a duece, and then just come back and ffwd through all the commercials. Like I'm about to do right now, bitches.

i hope this isnt the start of sirius advertising on its own radios for a long time to come like PBS started and now they have it all the time when they used to have NO commercials and stuff.

if you listen to the commercial fuckwads, they are pushing the SECOND subscription for an additional cost. i think they realize that the people listening have the friggin product...its an attempt to boost revenue by offering additional subscriptions..

It's to keep you informed, so you'll tell your friends, or buy one as a gift, or to convince you to get a second sub...etc.

I don't really care... when a commercial comes on I change the station to Raw Dog or something for a couple minutes and then come back.. advertise away!!

I saw some shit in a bar last night here in Chicago, about Sirius and their advertising. It was on the local news, but the volume was off because of music. Anyone hear any major stories about the company lately?

No cost for them to remind everyone that there is the $6.95 option per month to add someone to your list. I bought a system and subscription for my sister as a birthday present.

People can sign up to listen to Sirius on a 3 day pass. Thus they are not just talking to subscribers, neither is Howard so mentioning and reminding the people on 3 day passes and the like is crucial to getting people to sign up.

Why the fuck does Howard always say "Sirius Satellite Radio". Very rarely will he just say Sirius. I guess so you don't get it confused with Sirius.......um, Sirius.......uh, Sirius........oh.........
