View Full Version : Depth Chart of Why ESPN Now Sucks
WhiteBoy 06-29-2006, 08:37 AM I've had it with espn. I used to watch it 24/7, but can no longer stomach it.
1) These fucking depth charts for each position for every NFL team is stupid as shit.
2) They over-over-over-analyze everything
3) They should have a channel dedicated soley to Clemens
4) Espn.com charges for any good information
Just show the hightlights and scores and that's it.
What else?
herta28 06-29-2006, 09:43 AM Just show the hightlights and scores and that's it.
What are they going to show the other 22 1/2 hours?

You've just figured out that ESPN sucks? You also forgot a channel dedicated to Bonds. They are out of touch with what people think is important in sports
Woundedego 06-29-2006, 11:58 AM 1. Why does every host need to get himself over more then the highlights of the game.
2. ESPN continues to put idiots on there broadcasts whose view is so ridiculous that the other hosts are speechless at the end (Steven Smith, Erik Wynalda)
3. If ESPN does not broadcast or have any stake in the sport they refuse to air highlights of major happenings or put it so far down in the show it becomes unimportant (UFC, NHL)
thapie 06-29-2006, 12:32 PM i agree that espn has lost it's appeal with me , either i have out grown their approach or i juts have tired of their format, mostly i mute it and read to get updated on score or stats. chris berman and steven smith make me wanna cement my ears shit !
kwdawson 06-29-2006, 12:57 PM The only sports that are going on are baseball and the world cup, so do you except espn to show all baseball and world cup news 24 hours a day?

They're diong the same thing that professional sports in general do: Catering to NON-sports fans. In a way, it's not their fault. Just like the NBA, MLB, etc, they KNOW they have us as fans. So the only thing left to do is try to attract NON-fans. That's why, for real sports fans like us, going to sporting events, or watching is almost unbearable. The last time I went to a Knicks game, it was almost impossible to know when the game was going on because there's rap music blaring, shot going on on the screens and TONS of distractions-all for non-fans because they're not that interested in the game itself.
So ESPN knows that sports fans are going to tune in-so why bother catering to them? Where are we going to go? Local news? Not likely.
ChuckSmooth 06-29-2006, 02:21 PM you are right, ESPN has become god-awful. I only watch baseball tonight for the highlights. and the ESPN.com Insider program is bullshit. I wonder how many people actually pay for that shit
Rollins009 06-29-2006, 04:07 PM I was thinking the same thing about those stupid depth charts. I'm sorry but I couldn't care less what Golic or Salisbury or the other tool think about Arizona's friggin special teams. It's just filler for the 3 or 5 ESPN channels - aside from the actual sporting events everything on these channels is crap same old b.s.
yojoem23 06-30-2006, 12:54 PM Like an earlier post said, ESPN now caters now to the marginal or non-sports fan, like when they put POKER on in Primetime...Not a sport
StevenintheATL 06-30-2006, 01:01 PM What are they going to show the other 22 1/2 hours?
Poker? :p
TheRapist 06-30-2006, 01:19 PM ESPNEWS is the only thing worth watching on the family of networks besides Baseball Tonight or an actual event.
oug13 06-30-2006, 06:02 PM They have a sponsor for everything...I don't think they can work anymore shit into the programing....
Baseball tonight is only good with Kruk on air..that guy is a trip...
Oskeewow 06-30-2006, 06:35 PM They employ Dukie Vitale
ripstoke 06-30-2006, 08:33 PM Yea, i stopped watching sportscenter and i can't stand some of the talk shows, nfl primetime is good, but even kickoff for an hour and a half is too much.
caliman 06-30-2006, 08:47 PM Not to mention the countless hours of Nascar coverage they show.
zapataii 07-02-2006, 10:41 PM I've had it with espn. I used to watch it 24/7, but can no longer stomach it.

In terms of MLB games, it's become the YES network and NESN.. what's up with that shit?
lucid420 07-10-2006, 11:46 AM nascar sucks!!
sparky264980 07-10-2006, 12:10 PM so when EXACTLy did sportscenter "jump the shark"?
stooge-a-holic 07-10-2006, 01:40 PM so when EXACTLy did sportscenter "jump the shark"?
When the NFL forced them to cancel Playmakers. :)
profoundnotions 07-10-2006, 02:51 PM yeah playmakers was a good show. i tuned into it every week. i think that espn should show more variety in sports. show more nhl and stuff like that. i dont like that they spend so much time talking about baseball. i hate baseball i think its boring as hell. its too slow paced for me. but i dont mind seeing the amazing catches. they definetly should come up with some more shows. beg borrow and deal was interesting and play makers was good. too much baseball they did good with the world cup but thats once every 4 years.
ps i hate stephen a smith
