I agree with almost everything you said here. Im from NY and have been a Sox fan since I was about 8 years old, Im now 33. I went to Fenway at 8 with my older cousin and never turned back. My whole life I never seen one Sox fan in NY. They just tore me apart when I wore my jerseys, caps etc.. Amazingly enough, 2004 came and all of a sudden I see more Sox caps in my area in Queens. That said, I'm a Mets fan. Because my Dad took me to their games when I was a little kid. He came here from a country that was behind the Iron Curtain. As a young man, he was a hockey player on a team that went all the way to the Olympics. He fucking hated how soviet Russia controlled sports all over their communist ruled part of the world. A person could be sent to Siberia for not loving the right team.

When he got over here, he loved the freedom. Loved the idea of a team like the Mets just starting up. Loved Yogi Berra. Loved it that this country was so damn free that people could actually boo and hiss at a game. That there was freedom to root for any fucking team you loved.
