The rumors are flying and everyone wants to know, is Howard really going to Vegas? Super Bowl in Vegas fell through but talk about a Vegas trip hasn't. We can't get any definite answers but here's what we know so far. After searching the web we discovered that the Palms has been trying to romance the King of all Media away from the Hard Rock. Which hotel would win out was uncertain, but it will definatly be one of the two. All of the new information I've found said that the Howard Stern Show would be in Vegas in the end of April. Exactly when isn't sure. Two articles are following.

UPDATE: Tues March 18th Howard told Double A that they should be in Vegas from Tuesday, April 22nd to Friday 25th

UPDATE: Monday March 17th Howard said that they would be at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino (http://www.hardrockhotel.com/home_frameset.html) next month. He only said it in passing and didn't make a big deal about it so don't be surprised if things change. Looks like the Palms lost the bidding war, but We won't know for sure until it's officially announced.

If you find anything else out about the trip details, post them here.

For Howard Stern and Jamie-Lynn Sigler, it’s all about the Benjamins

Vegas Weekly
By Kate Maddox

Forget Howard Stern and the Super Bowl. Stern opted not to come to Vegas.

But.

One thing the jock did like, apparently, was the idea of two casinos bidding for his almighty presence. The Palms and the Hard Rock had started a mini-war of sorts, as reported here last week. Both were vying for Stern and the big bucks he brings when he does his radio show from the casino floor, as he’s done at the Hard Rock for the past couple of Super Bowls.

Now Tattle has confirmed that Stern and his crew will play Vegas—not for the Super Bowl, but rather for a three-day jaunt sometime between February and April.

Let the Palms-Hard Rock bidding begin.

Stern and his bosses have happily thrown down the gauntlet, telling execs at both properties that he who bids highest gets the King of all Media.

And just how much is that prize going for these days? One source says the auction will open at $500,000. And that’s just for Stern’s appearance fee.

Las Vegas Sun
Vegas Beat by Timothy McDarrah
March 11, 2003

Howard Stern is returning to Las Vegas. He told listeners on his radio show (heard locally on KXTE 107.5-FM) this morning that he and all of his sidekicks will be in Vegas the last week of April.

Among the activities being lined up is associate producer KC Armstrong getting into the ring with Ultimate Fighting Championship title-holder Tito Ortiz for $15,000. Producer Gary Dell'Abate said the show is still negotiating with two properties -- Hard Rock Hotel and the Palms -- to see who will host the boisterous broadcast bunch.

mutt left out the rest of the article:

Speaking of Sopranos stars: Let’s revisit the Jamie-Lynn Sigler Las Vegas house auction for a minute, shall we? Because something smells rotten in Sopranoland. Last week, Sigler, who’s moving to New York City full-time, auctioned off the contents of her posh home in the Lakes. The place was completely furnished by high-end furniture company Ethan Allen.

But here’s the skinny: A while back, Sigler heard that MTV’s Cribs was coming to shoot a segment. She panicked. Her house was bare—definitely not decked out in the interior bling-bling that most Cribs homes require. She hooked up with Ethan Allen. They agreed to do the whole thing for free. That's the entire 3,000-square-foot house, mind you. And, presto, she had a pad worthy of MTV.

Cribs comes. Shoot’s a success. Few months later, Sigler puts the house up for sale, calls a local auction house and sells the contents for somewhere in the neighborhood of $250,000. Sigler pockets the cash. Thanks, Ethan Allen! Sounds like she’s gangsta enough. Daddy would be so proud.

Ask me, she moved out of 'hittable' stage about 20 pounds and 18 months ago. still cute, mind you, but gotta do something about that weight...

Mutt, below is from marksfriggin today:

Howard told Double A that they should be in Vegas from Tuesday, April 22nd to Friday the 25th . Howard said they may be doing a mini concert with Artie as the lead singer of their AC/DC cover band. Artie did a little bit of his Brian Johnson impression to give them a demonstration. Howard went on to talk about Artie getting smashed when they were out there last time. Howard said he got up early to go play cards one morning and Artie was already drunk down in the casino.

i'm soo pumped it looks like our dates will overlap. hopefully i can take a red eye out there the thursday night. although it looks like it would make more sense for me to fly out of atlantic city than philly. i'll have to check ticket prices. whoever's going though should post a message so we could meet up for something. i'm sure club paradise would be the best move, since standing around watching them play cards may not be worth it.

I'm actually flirting with the idea right now.....I have vacation time from work and me and a friend of mine were thinking of gong to Vegas this year anyways....Y2, can you post ticker prices on here when you check? from Philly or NY it's prob. in the same ballpark, no?

thats a good question. since they are both major airports they will probably be in the same ballpark. although, with NY just beign more expensive then everything in general you never now. If I flew out of Atlantic City (which is closer to me) on Friday morn a come back sun morn its about $249 roundtrip. However, if I left on Wednesday its only $209 round trip. But I may have to do philly because i'd rather leave thurs night and come back sun afternoon. but beggars can't be choosers.

Everyone try to stay in or around the Hard Rock Hotel-
that way, ya get to the broadcasts earlier-and get a
good spot-

I was there last year and stayed at the Hard
Rock-on the seventh floor -there was crazy shit goin
on in every room-Yaqi had a "tickling" room- in another
two midget Elvis' were going at this one hot stripper-
the whole floor was a 24 hour party!
Rooms are kinda steep there though-and will get steeper
the closer to the dates of the show-so reserve now!!!
1-800-693-ROCK

If that doesn't work -stay at Terrible's Hotel & Casino-
right beside Hard Rock-rates are lower-and is walkin'
distance!

See you there!! Rev. and I will be on the show-and
raising hell all night!!!!

i would be careful w/ regards to staying at terribles casino. the neighborhood is kind of dangerous (believe me, i live right next door). and if you plan on staying at the hard rock partying late, it's not the best neighborhood to walk home in late at night drunk. it's fine during the day, but the freaks come out at night. it's hardly the worst hood in town, but you should stay alert while on paradise rd. at night. :nono: stay careful, folks.

the hard rock isn't actually on the vegas strip. it's roughly 1/2 a mile away. the area between the strip and the hard rock is pretty fucked up. behind the hard rock is an apartment complex called "harbor island" on harmon blvd. which is a fucked up place. i lived there for three months and was propositioned by a hookers twice on my walk home from work, in broad daylight. and these ones didn't look like roller whore, believe me. :vomit:

you are perfectly safe inside the hard rock itself (because of the high security), so if you are staying there you have nothing to worry about. and the neighborhood itself is fine during the day, it's just sketchy at night. if you are staying at terribles, you'll have no trouble walking there when the show starts. my only concern is the return trip if everyone stays out late partying. if it's midnight, and you're shitfaced, just hop into one of the cabs that are sitting in the lobby waiting for tourists. the cabby will be pissed, so just give him a little extra $

as for building the hard rock in a shitty neighborhood, the real estate's cheaper, and it was built over ten years ago during the development boom, and they might have been hoping for a little more "development" in the area around it. the great news is that it's so close to the airport and club paradise. beware of cabbies that'll drive you all over to run up the fare (especially the ones that have lots of tatoos, and try to give you anal).

Y2KOAM
03-30-2003, 11:42 AM
ya he's right about the hard rock being off on its own. its a good walk from the hard rock to the rest of civilization but if thats where the party is at, then that's where we have to go.

Timmer
03-30-2003, 02:45 PM
So which is better?

Get a hotel a couple of miles away and have to cab back and forth since EVERYTHING will be going on at the Hard Rock?

or

Staying nearby at a place like Terribles which is just a stone's throw away from Hard Rock?

I mean, how bad is this area? Are there gang shootings and muggings or just some hookers on the street corners?

How far is Terribles from Hard Rock actually?

if you can't stay at the hard rock, i would stay at terribles, or the embassy suites on spencer st. w/ is also right next door to my complex. embassy suites is nicer than terr. and a little bit closer. but the emb. is probably much more expensive. since i'm cheap, i'd probably go w/ terribles. there's also a mcdonalds in terribles, so you can get 99 cent burgers. even if you're staying at embassy, you can eat at the mcd's if you're strapped for cash. there's a lunch buffet at terribles for 7 bucks, which is a pretty good deal for all you can eat. the foods mediocre, but buffets are still fun. the dinner buffet's not worth the money.

the management of my complex left notes on every1's doors saying that there had been a robbery in the area, and that they would put extra locks on the doors if we asked. the street's too busy for drive by's and shit like that, but a few blocks down on twain is fucked. it'd be more like crazy crackhead homeless guys than gangstas. the only situation that i am worried about is some1 staying out really late, getting sloppy drunk and walking home by themselves, especially the ladies, that's all. if you'll be travelling w/ mutt, or some other people, you have nothing to worry about.

the hard rock and terribles are at opposite ends of the same block, different sides of the street about 150ft. apart. if you look on a map of vegas, hard rock is on paradise rd. and harmon, terribles is on paradise and flamingo, very close. the walk to the embassy suites is maybe 100ft. and is on harmon and spencer, even closer.

I used to be a cab driver and was very honest. I even let the drunks know when they gave me way too much money or dropped their wallets and such in the car.

As far as the Hard Rock. I haven't been to Vegas since '91. I was there working at Bally's for a few months and lived on Casino Center Blvd. across from the Clark County Jail. Did they build the hotel where the original hard Rock restaurant was? It was when I was there that they started the construction boom that turned Vegas in to a new city that I probably wont even recognize. :hw:

my dad was a cab driver here for a while, and he's told me about how they operate in vegas. he was honest too, and that's why he got out of the business. i didn't say anything about cab drivers in general, just the ones here in vegas. i think there's just a different cabbie culture here.

yeah the hard rock hotel is behind the restaurant, where the dirt lot used to be. there should be some good poon there because it's so close to u.n.l.v. :bwtd:
yeah, vegas is packed tighter than k.c.'s fudge. you would'nt even guess that you were in the desert if not for the mountains in the horizon. all of the dirt lots w/ the cool desert scenery are now built up. the humidity level is way up from all the development so as you can imagine, last summer was horrible.
it's not as nice as it used to be, but it's still a bitchin city.

i can't believe that i forgot to mention this, but there's a liqour store right across the street from the hard rock. just cross harmon, and it's right there. i'm sure that the hard rock will try to gouge us stern fans (unless you're gambling, then drinks are free), so you can get shit-faced before entering the casino. as i mentioned before, there's a liqour store in terribles as well.

there was another armed robbery in my complex this week. the only reason i'm mentioning this is that if you're walking from terribles, you'll have to walk by my complex. if it's late at night, try to walk home w/ other people if you can. see y'all there!

Nice to know that there are a couple of liquor stores in the area...
Buy a couple of bottles and keep it in the room.

i'd get beer from the terribles liqour store or the gas station across the street from terribles, wine and hard liqour from the place across from the hard rock. i went to the gas station, and they had old english 40oz. for $2.20. nice!!! i'll continue reconnoitering for the best alcohol prices.

the "open container" laws aren't really enforced much. if you want to kill a beer on your walk over there, you've got nothing to worry about. just don't sit on the curb and try to drink a twelve pack, or loiter while drinking. the cops try to leave tourists alone as much as possible. i'll do most of my drinking before i get there.

www.howardshrine.com... (post #1)
....would like a piece of memorabilia from the Las Vegas shows to include in our online tribute to Howard and the Show and is prepared to pay $$$$ for the item to the person or persons who can collect the most "legitimate" signatures while in attendance- whether they are on a Hard Rock Cafe t-shirt, program, etc.

Photos of the celebrities signing the item is also a good way to document that the signatures are legit. Although not mandatory pictures would go along way in helping us decide whose item or items we accept for shrine inclusion.

Those interested please email Doc at howardshrine@aol.com.

Thanks,

Doc

When quoting a post by the Reverend Rabbi, it would be more fitting if you referred to yourself as Yamulketrick...

Everyone lucky enough to be going to Vegas - Have fun, party hard, good luck gambling and be safe!! Take pics to post here too! :)

On a serious, because-I-care note, one thing you should remember before you go, is stashing money to get home. Stash enough money to get you home from the airport: i.e. cabfare, parking garage fees, gas money, tolls, etc. I've seen people spend every last cent in the casino, forgetting about how they're gonna get home
