this is muntz for the SFN insider giving u the lowdown on the douches... rover being fired and also the beginning of the new WHOPPI show....
http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a379/lphotos/RoverOver.jpg
The douches announced they are gonna begin in Chicago on WCKG-fm Tuesday 8/1/06 and in San Francisco on KIFR-fm (but afternoons only, on this station they will be after radiochick who airs live on that station)
WCKG fired Rover (but for now he is still on in Rochester, NY and Cleveland)
The douches were ragging on mancow.... since hes no longer on in chicago.... and of course the bbboys were gloating especially about their new promo featuring Robert Reed (lets be honest, people born in the 1980's if they didnt see his pic would they know who Robert Reed was? - I bet not.)
of course they were so proud of themselves about their PESTS infiltrating the new Whoppi and cubby show.... one guy called in and said that whoppi looks like a fugitive from a pancake box.... the douches response? crickets... they didnt like it... IMHO opinion that was funny.... this shows the lack of humor the douches have...
heard tons on phony phone calls on whoppi the the douche show...
to end todays show of course the douches rag on howard again... he invented air, he invented blinking... and of course he invented unplugged music... antknees answer to that was didnt u hear of benny goodman?
heres the point on that... was there live music on radio YES... but in the 1970's and 1980's did they have artists come in during their interview and perform a song? i dont think so... i listened to a lot of radio as a little kid and howard is right they used to do inerviews and play a song from the record... not a live performance or an unplugged one.... a good question was when was the first unplugged performance on howard and who was it?
Tomorrow a review of show 2 of Whoppi....
cue the music thats all for now....
this is Muntz for the SFN insider....
The Butler 07-31-2006, 08:28 AM Rover, another Stern replacement gets the axe and Dopie and Ain't Funny take his spot.

Greasy_Fungus 07-31-2006, 09:07 AM I didn't think Rover's show was that bad.
edoidae 07-31-2006, 09:36 AM His ratings were bad; he was lower in Chicago than DLR was in New York. Besides, Rover was the most blatant Stern rip-off, right down to the "female voice of reason who also reads the news".
Chicago was a tough market for Howard, and Mancow's ratings were in the toilet when he was dropped. I expect O&A will be more of the same.
edoidae 07-31-2006, 09:38 AM By the way, does anyone know which markets and stations Whoopi is on? I can't find anything.
Howards polularity cannot be duplicated by anyone now with the threat of FCC fines coming down. It certainly can't be done by a couple of known fuck-ups who are in their mid 40's now.

Are you kidding? They're going to be the 15th ranked morning show in so many markets, it'll make your head spin.

you what its weird.... wktu's website has no info on whoppi
www.ktu.com
and also no new press releases on clear channel's either...
www.clearchannel.com
strange... but AFAIK there is a podcast link and live stream of the station so i guess you can get it....
Faygo 07-31-2006, 10:19 AM Whoopi = Whoppi
I think you're obsessed with the douches dude.
muntz 07-31-2006, 10:25 AM Whoopi = Whoppi

muntz 07-31-2006, 12:02 PM It's spelled WHOOPI Ya Retahd! Damn you're dumb.
then why arent you upset with all the people posting OFRAH .... its oprah u know but i've never seen u critcize it so go on another thread....
FYI i dont hate ms goldberg and i like some of her movies... but i didnt like how she dissed howard and robin... but i dont hate her.... i do hate the douches.... i hope her show does well but lets face it.. it will go like the Booker and Lopez show did... to the dump....
Faygo 07-31-2006, 12:03 PM Whoopi sucks at comedy. I can't stand her stand-up. She won't last, I do agree with that.
ShockedScott 07-31-2006, 01:16 PM From FMQB:
"...Upon finding out that the callers were from the O&A program, Whoopi said, "There are other folks out there, some of them are good and some of them are not. We are no threat to anybody. We just doing a show that we want to be doing. Howard [Stern] understands that. That's my friend. These other people, they're not worth the dust Howard walks on." After another "Pest" made it through, Whoopi warned, "Know that we're going to screen better."
Faygo 07-31-2006, 01:19 PM Whoopi is on our side? That pisses me off! Fuck Whoopi and her stale type humor!
edoidae 07-31-2006, 02:09 PM It's lame to call in to her show. First of all she's brand new and hasn't proven to be any competition to them yet. Second, her target audience is probably different then that of O&A. I don't think you're going to reach alot of people on Whoopi's show, not yet anyway.
jdmaxell 07-31-2006, 02:13 PM Who cares about any clones!!!!! They are irrelevant.

that is very cool... now if she wanted to make a splash i think she should have howard call in on her show.... it would make the papers and mend those fences.... just howard did it for booker in philly....
see.... faygo and pussah are gonna be in for a shock when i really review whoopi fairly... hey i did it for DLR why shouldnt i do it for her?

They do it in the hope that the AP picks up the story. And of course it didn't.
Irrelevancy is a hard thing to swallow!

Why would I be in for a shock? And dude, Whoopi being on our side is not good. It's bad. It's like if Carrot Top supported the Howard Stern Show.
Tom from T.O. 07-31-2006, 02:25 PM Ok, how many of us called it? I said DLR, Rover and Carolla will be replaced with O & A. Two down, one to go.
Adam Carolla's sphincter just got a littel tighter as he chalks off the days before his firing, followed by the obligatory put downs from CBS if Carolla says a word against it.
Joel Hollander should read at SFN and listen to people who have more expertise in radio than he does, it might save him from some of his funniest gaffes, which are many.
Next up for firing: Adam Carolla, c'mon down.
Memo to Joel Hollander: O & A will grant you a short reprieve. They lack the talent to sustain a national show and within 1 to 2 years their show will lose it's legs as the fans become bored and O & A end up like Imus. They will never generate the revenue you need to justify their hiring and the deal with XM. This will be your Waterloo Hollander...tick tick tick tick.
Maybe you can help Howard negotiate his next deal with the newly merged Sirius/XM, I am sure Howard will let a genius like you "participate" in it.
edoidae 07-31-2006, 02:27 PM They do it in the hope that the AP picks up the story. And of course it didn't.
Irrelevancy is a hard thing to swallow!
Oi, it's even lamer than I thought! The AP didn't pick up on the Stern fan scuffle during the walk to XM (which, as it turned out, was instigated by O&A's people), why would they pick up on some prank calls? How retarded can you get? I love the irrelevancy line btw, very apt.
Faygo 07-31-2006, 02:30 PM Instigated by O&A? I believe you got it wrong. Let's not turn to bullshiters like the whackfaggers. Let's keep it honest.
edoidae 07-31-2006, 02:32 PM The producer pushed the fan, that's why the fan pushed back and that's why that producer got suspended then quit. I didn't say O&A instigated it, I said their people did.
muntz 07-31-2006, 02:34 PM Why would I be in for a shock? And dude, Whoopi being on our side is not good. It's bad. It's like if Carrot Top supported the Howard Stern Show.
uhhh u forgot he came onto the show and i like him... i do think hes funny... i guess youre a nick dipaolo guy (i cant stand him)

The producer pushed the fan? I thought the Stern fan pushed the producer first. My mistake.
muntz:
You like Carrot Top and can't stand Nick Dipaolo? What the fuck is wrong with you?
Tom from T.O. 07-31-2006, 02:38 PM Whoopi sucks at comedy. I can't stand her stand-up. She won't last, I do agree with that.
Unlike DLR, the Whoopster actually has talent, she's not semi-retarded so that's a plus right there. Her TV interview show was not too bad. Unfortunately, Hollander's idea of developing a show is to hire a name at an expensive contract and then tell them "I want ratings in the first quarter" so he can "monetize" the talent's too expensive contract. You'd think he was acting like an exec that never had to develop a radio show, Oh wait, that's right, he didn't, he rode Howard's success.
The Whooptser won't be given the time to develop her show, even if she has the ability, because they are getting very desperate and they are throwing too much money around like madmen. Their M.O. is too blame the talent then when things don't work out.

Right, she even sent Howard chocolates to make peace after Howard was ripping on her when her show was announced. She has had nothing but complimentary things to say about Howard so she has my respect. I won't be listening to her show instead of Howard's, but she has my respect (whatever that's worth).
jonestown 07-31-2006, 05:02 PM i think it's time to hit whoopi with a little 1993 - babbabooey phone calls.

That's the way they tried to twist it at first, but later it came out that the producer started. Shortly after, he was let go. --- As read on this board.

it was found out ben sparks pushed the and started the scuffle.... once this was found out, WFNY suspended him... he was sick and tired of being overworked, underpaid and under appreciated so he quit....
carrot top is funny and he did go on howards show at k-rock....
i saw nick dipaolo 2/06 at governors in long island ny..... picture this... some of the jokes were funny... but then half of his show became very weird... an audience of people who worked in lower manhattan, mainly democrat, became silent when he did jokes about 9/11, about people who lost everything in new orleans, about still supporting bush... it might go over in kentucky but not in NYC metro... know your audience u jerk.... due to that i cannot like him anymore....

Was this incident ever flushed out (who started it, who was the 'Stern fan', is the 'fan' taking legal action, etc)?
Can't recall reading these specifics, here or otherwise...
I heard a clip of Opie's (that fucking name...??) reaction to Whoopie's Stern mention, and he immediately screamed foul, "How could she bring Stern into this", or similar. Obsess, much?
Guess he didn't like the "dust" reference. :D
