View Full Version : Xact Visor
tommyp 08-15-2006, 11:21 AM Is anyone having problems with the connections on this particular unit? I have now gone through my second unit; the first one's power connection broke, and now on my current one, the audio in is malfunctioning.
With that, I am curious to know if other Xact hardware is compatible with my antenna, etc., as I am considering purcahsing a different unit.
howies5incher 08-16-2006, 12:50 PM I had a visor,I know the antenna works with the xtr2ck,but the power supply is different, for sure the power adapter won't work.
zombie1369 08-28-2006, 06:20 PM Everytime I turn the unit on, it seems to reset itself. All my presets are gone and Im put back at the preview channel. Really irritating!!!
howies5incher 08-30-2006, 12:13 AM that's a warranty issue for sure...
gadoi 08-30-2006, 12:40 PM mine started doing that same bullshit last week, it resets itself to channel 184 and loses all of my pre-sets. getting kind of pissed, called xact folks last week and my name has been added to a waiting list for a new one. but, i don't have a receipt or anything. i'm probably screwed....
MexicanArtie 08-31-2006, 02:05 AM I have a love/hate relationship with my Visor. I love the design of the thing. I hate the quality of it. Mine had the same problems. I had my cousin resolder the connectors and that took care of it. The only thing is that now none of the buttons on the front face work. I can't change the menu or band. Only the display button works. The remote died too, but that thing was crap. I can still listen to Howard on it, but it is a pain of a unit. I bought a sportster. Much much better. Also I had a Sanyo unit for a while. That was okay too. All the antennas on the three units I have had are interchangeable. Even the power supplies worked on all three. Hopefully Xact will warranty their crap.
JayFromBrooklyn 08-31-2006, 04:17 AM Wow, I can't believe it whenever I see stuff like this. I got mine last christmas and it's been on around 8-10 hours a day for 9 months. I take it back and forth from the house... to the the car... to my friend's house...back again...never had any problems. I think I got lucky and got one of the originals...before they had to speed up production and change the FM transmitter. I hope I didn't just jinx myself.
scajjr 08-31-2006, 11:17 AM I've had my Visor since Feb and it goes from car to house daily. No problems with it at all. As Jay said maybe the early production models were made better.
doc11542 08-31-2006, 11:27 AM I have no problems with mine so far. The mount could be a bit more on the sturdy side but thats probally my car.
MexicanArtie 08-31-2006, 12:38 PM None of the three of you are unhappy with the remote? That thing barely worked from the get go!

The remote is a different ballgame. Seems that there no radius. Almost like you have to be exactly lined up with the unit sensor for it to work.
steelers1429 08-31-2006, 05:34 PM No need for the remote in the car.

Ha...I almost forgot that I had a remote for it...since I stopped trying to use it after the first month. They definitely screwed something up with that...but I hardly ever switch stations anyway.
MexicanArtie 09-01-2006, 09:59 AM I'll have to upload pics of my torn apart Visor. Like I said I have a love hate relationship with this thing. If the QC would have been up to par, this would have been a great buy. by the way, I still use it everyday in my eclipse.
scajjr 09-03-2006, 04:43 AM The remote IS useless. you have to point it directly at it and be so close to the Visor to get it to work you might as well just do it by hand.
