I just got back from having the antenna replaced for my S50 again. This is now the third antenna for this unit. It was working just fine on Monday night driving home, but yesterday morning I got no reception at all.

Thankfully, I bought an extended warentee from Car Toys and they have been great about it. But it is still a hassle - takes a couple of hours each time.

Seems like these antennas only last for a few months, anyone else get that feeling?

the s50 antennas are AWFUL. i have a home and car kit; i use the car antenna at home and use an older, bulky antenna in the car. at least it works though...

has anyone tried any of the after market antennas on the market? i'm wondering if any of them are decent. I think Terk makes a few.

The stock antenna that came with my starmate has seen better days and I'm looking for a replacement.

the antennas do suck....and Sirius won't replace just the antenna under warranty.
You have to send the whole unit back for exchange and the unit is on national backorder.

You you have no s50 for weeks......that is very bad customer service

They should be able to just swap out the antenna. I know they have them packaged
seperately because they sell them in the retail stores like best buy

The antennas are the worst. My signal will be fine for days and then suddenly goes out. Otherwise it's patchy. Drives me nuts.

The antenna that came with my unit sucked too and crapped out after a month. I paid around $50 for a "monster" brand antenna and its worked great, as it should since it cost more than my reciever.

I just installed my third antenna, I'm paying more for antenna than my radio or service cost. I sent an e-mail to Sirius and told them, this is strike three and I'm out. They need to come up with a better replacement.

I'll never understand the current corporate mentality. It's take the money now and run. There's no long term thinking anymore like some of the great corporate giants of the past.

If Sirius bit the bullet, took less profit now, provided excellent customer service, better hardware and more reliable reception (in home and in car) then they'd see a great bonanza down the road. But corporations don't think like that any more. It's all about today. Most corporations today actually plan ways to screw their own customers. It doesn't make sense, and it's just not Sirius, it's most American companies today. Sad.
