games between the Ewing led Knicks against the Jordan Bulls... or the Olajuwan Rockets against the Drexler Blazers? Karl Malone & John Stockton coming into the Garden to take on Mark Jackson & Patrick Ewing in the middle of February...

I just can't get into today's NBA... at least not until playoff time and even then, I change channels and tend to not come back...

No doubt, the league is watered down right now. About 4 teams need to get cut, and kids out of HS shouldn't be playing. Make them pretend to go to college for at least 2 years, like the NFL does.

This is sad because it means I'm getting old. But I completely agree. My father never watched basketball when I was growing up because he didn't get it anymore. To him it was "a bunch of millionaire niggers running up and down." The game is still great...the players just aren't.

Ever since the player strike of 98 I believe, I haven't gotten back into basketball. And since our so called "Dream Teams" started loosing I realized that getting into our basketball is a waste of time since it isn't the best basketball in the world. Yes, I miss those days.

Absolutely. Watching Jordan in his prime was the best. Today's NBA pretty much bores me.

Bird vs. Magic was the greatest, most entertaining basketball ever. Celtics vs. Lakers in the 80's will never be topped.

Have you watched the Suns play defense? That's not basketball. It's an all-star game.

The league was much better in the 80's when there were fewer teams. The teams were not watered down and the passing game was 1000 times better and more entertaining.

Give me Price, Daugherty and Nance playing at the old Richfield Coliseum. With Howie Chizek, who as a PA announcer blew away these clowns of today saying, "Mark Price for THREEEEE!!!" Don't get me wrong, I love LeBron and he will lead the Cavs to the championship Jordan CB'ed Cleveland from. We Cavs fans still think if only Ron Harper would have stayed instead of the owner trading him away because he grew up and actually talk to a drug dealer or 2. LET'S GO CAVS!! SHAKE IT UUUUUUUUUP!!

The NBA has been headed downhill for years. Games used to mean something. Players used to mean something. Now it's all bullshit. Jordan, Magic, Larry, Dream Team etc.... I miss it.

It's still alright sometimes, but it'll never be as good as the 80's-- most of these bastards are just spoiled now. My old man is a lot like Howard's and many others from the Baby-boomer generation (and before)-- teaching, but not really bonding. One of my favorite memories growing up, was sitting in the family room-- my Father, Brother and myself-- watching the "Showtime Lakers" and listening to Chick and Stu commentate; a lot of yelling and laughing. I still remember when they announced the Dream Team going to the Olympics; I bought all of us a copy of that Sports Illustrated. The shit's just not the same.

Whoever was the PR guy for the nba in the 80's /early 90's, should be brought back for all sports because all sports now are not the same since 2000.

i can say that i seen the old nba live back when i was in san antonio in 94 during tech school.

i went to a few spurs games, about 3 and saw the knicks when they had Ewing, the sonics with the real shawn kemp, and manute bol when he was on golden state. Seeing david robinson was a plus also. one of his best highlights thats still shown to this day, was from a game that i was at when they played the knicks. avery johnson alley-oop to Robinson for a ONE HANDED SLAM!

I miss the old blazer teams, 89 90, 90-91, 91-92. that was a great team, clyde, porter, kersey, busk, duckworth. But I also miss old players like bird, magic, jordan, drexler, pip and way to many better players then anybody today.
