A caller called in this morning talking about the new FCC regulations for the newer sirius recievers and the issues he's having with not being able to overcome local FM signals.
The solution to this is to simply remove and retract your car antenna. Then the radio will only pick up the Sirius transmitter's signal. This option removes the possibility of tuning into local stations, but really, who cares? Since I got my Sirius last year, I haven't once changed the station I have my Sirius tuned to.

The best solution is to use the Wired FM Modulator Relay. It automatically disconnects the car's antenna when you turn on your Sirius radio, eliminating ALL interference from local FM stations, then automatically reconnects the car antenna when you turn off your Sirius receiver, allowing you to use the FM/AM car stereo. Here is the wired relay, it's only $20:

I noticed my new sirius radio doesn't put out shit for power but my 1 year old one kicks ass. I just use an external antenna that plugs into the fm out jack.

I'm somewhat bothered that Stern or anyone else in the studio is not able to voice a solution. If one of them knew some better solutions, and there are a lot, it would make a huge difference.

Make sure that your unit has an "FM out" jack or you'll drop the money for nothing... :opps:
