View Full Version : This is why the radios are stolen
Gene Simmons Of KISS 12-10-2006, 09:02 PM My Sportster replay was taken from my car today. Normally I remove it when I leave the car, but forgot this time.
But, what I discovered is once you end your account, or replace the stolen radio, Sirius does not "block" or deactivate the stolen radio. So any cunt can call up and activate it. If they simply disabled any radio reported stolen, there would very little reason to steal them and would drastically reduce the stolen radio problem.
This is fucked up and really has me angry. Aside from the obvious, that they will get another sub potentially, how do they justify(lie) allowing this cycle to continue??
Anyone?
MoMMaLoID 12-10-2006, 10:30 PM Yeah, I know it sucks I had a starmate replay YANKED from my car by a drugged up 15 year old (police got him). But its true they just turned it off for anyone to turn it back on, what do they care its one more subscription. Cell phones are the same way (yeah cuz i got my cell phone stolen too, oh and my i pod, oh and the broke my 12disc changer tring to get it out of the car) The only thing that really can be done, is you know that 12 didgit # you have to give sirius to activate your radio, give that info to the police. the police can issue a subpena to sirius to release the records of the account that has your old SID # attached to it and in turn they can talk to who has it or maybe even recover you stuff, Same for an ESN for cell phones.
I havent got anything back, the police are still working on it. But good luck, I feel your Pain.
P.S. I just got the stiletto, I had to payfor it myself because it wasn't worth going thru my car insurance to get it all replaced
MexicanArtie 12-10-2006, 11:04 PM wow, the cops will do that? I doubt it. More than likely, the person that reactivates the stolen item is not the person who stole it, I feel your pain, but doubt anyone will ever take action to change this. Sorry
monsterdick 12-11-2006, 04:13 PM not true for cell phones, i know someone that works for verizon and they CAN add a note that the phone is stolen and will not activate the phone when someone else try to activate it.
That note will only be added if you ask them to, otherwise they can activate it again.

Not what I was told, but I hope you're right.
Why the fuck do we have to ask???? If it reported to the company as STOLEN....fuckin assholes man.

That's bullshit. It's the only reason I was leaving mine in the car. I figured they would deactivate if stolen.
Fa-Fa-Fo-Ha 12-12-2006, 03:52 PM That is fucked up by Sirius. I can understand not blocking it right away just because of a phone call ( could be an ex gf who knows all my personal information trying to fuck with me), but if one is able to fax/send a police report stating the receiver was stolen, they should deactivate it and turn it into a brick.

yep. Say so to Sirius! Fuckin bullshit policy
WillowGlen 12-12-2006, 05:00 PM I dont get it. I bought a second unit for the office off Ebay back in January. It came and when I called to activate it and they told me they wouldnt do it because thier records showed it belonged to someone else. Lucky for me the customer service person I got was very helpful and called the person to verify that it wasnt stolen before they would activate it for me.
I dont get all the custmoer service horror stories I read on here all the time. Anytime I have needed Sirius assitance for either of my units or the units I got for my parents cars they have been wonderful. I guess I just have gotten lucky.

Frankly, I wonder if you have a potential lawsuit against Sirius for enabeling a theft or something by allowing a thief to use your equipment? Might be a long shot but who knows, some lawyer might try a class action suit if you can find some other victims.
kingfatty 12-13-2006, 04:24 PM when my starmate was stolen they said to me once they red flag the chip inside, they can never be activated again. when i asked when someone trys to activate it will they take the persons info to the police . they said they will not get involved with that. when i told her that at that point sirius has evidence to an ongoing police investegation. there was a long pause and then she said sorry sir

Sounds like they have a different story a lot of the times. If they were doing the right thing, they would have that story straight.
I was told they do not track that sort of info. Oh, that's nice, you fuckin scumbags.
TSS Taylor 12-14-2006, 12:29 AM If your radio get's stolen let SIRIUS Customer Service know. In particular the dept that tries to save you from cancelling.
That's all I have to say about that:)

I am not cancelling- & You are missing the point:
They encourage the stolen radio problem(for thier own financial gain) by not permanently disabling radios that are reported stolen
and...who do you think I let know?? Dell customer service? Your post sucks diseased cock
TSS Taylor 12-14-2006, 09:27 AM I'm sorry for helping you out.
You do realize I can't exactly say everything I'd like to say so I have to edit myself in case SIRIUS sees this post.
It's not like I can talk to SIRIUS and go ahead and change this policy that it messed up.
zI guess since I tried to help you out with a suggestion and you could care less, I could care less that your radio got stolen.

I feel for you man. Talking with reps that are either useless or assholes is one of lifes great frustrations
TSS Taylor 12-14-2006, 11:05 PM There customer service is pretty horrible in general, but there are some people there that can take care of things. Getting to them is near impossible. I don't have any ideas because if you come on too strong maybe people wouldn't want to help as much, but you still want to get the point across.
They have a customer retention group, who are the people who are the last resort before one cancels. If you can get to them and explain your radio was stolen and somehow ask if by chance they can get a new radio, that may help.
kingfatty 12-17-2006, 12:51 PM i finnaly got a good rep on the phone, she gave me her extention so know i can call her direct. you have know idea what greif this saves me :)

Having that info doesn't mean you can get him/her.
First you have to know which call center they are in....
If you get connected to New York, bu he/she is in Iowa...your outta luck
And if the rep you get does no have that person in their "que" for calls then your outta luck as well.
