I think Bubba already talked about this....he doesn't want his show to be a copy of Howard's so he plays his intro in full. It is different but I like the songs he has chosen so it does help the show ease out into the task at hand...

I am a rabid Bubba fan and catch every minute I can. That being said I too find the intro WAY too long, the same songs and bits drive me nuts. So I now don't even tune the dial over until 3:07. That is my advice to you man just leave it on another station until 7 after.

I agree 100%. It's really annoying and then after the intro a lot of the time they go into that parody about Bubbas start in radio. It's ridiculous, but i do love the show and Ned kicks ass!!!!!

I guess it's just the fact that Bubba is the "new guy" to some listeners. I just started listening 1-9-06 and have become a big fan. I would assume that if someone would complain about the long show intro they would have also complained about Howard starting his show with the same old clips and then playing an in studio guest's song and then his intro? For me it kind of gets me pumped up.

Here is the information i posted about a month ago (all of it 100% true and unbiased) which got moved to WGAS almost immediately.

Here are some simple facts regarding the opening of the show and how the intro affects the show. Personally I think enough is enough with the long openings and my simple proven factual evidence only makes it painfully obvious that it is far too long.


The opening, which consists of the jimi hendrix song, a short best-of bit, and the Full Trucker Effect song in its entirety, takes no less than 6 and a half minutes.

When they also include the "gatorade jones" bit, this is extended to nearly 9 minutes. On average the "gatorate jones" bit is played approx 2 times per week.

This means that on average, in one week of shows, we have 36.5 minutes of "intro" material

Factoring in 4 weeks of time off for holidays and vacations, this means that during 1 year of the show, we are subjected to...

DRUMROLL PLEASE....


29.2 HOURS OF INTRO MATERIAL.

this calculates out to 7.3 ENTIRE DAYS OF THE SHOW worth of time that might as well be dead air.

So bubba's ridiculously long intro essentially gives him more than an entire week of vacation per year.

OK they start playing stuff for Howard's show at 5:55 AM EST . Also he doesn't start right at 6 all the time. Only reason you hear Bubba's intro is because he has to wait for New York to let him go. If he was able to I am sure he would go early just like Howard does. If that was the case then his show would start at 3:01 or so just like Howard's does at 6:01 or so. I think there would be a ton of complaints if Howards played his 5 or 6 minutes of intro also. Ok get it . This has been hashed and bashed enough around here and it is getting really damn old already. Plain and simple if you don't like it tune in at 7 after and your problem is solved.

Yes, he is correct that sometimes howards pre-show material starts 5 or more minutes before 6 am and that then his show starts exactly at 6 am.

but the argument that bubba needs the 9 minute intro because sirius doesnt switch over to him till 3:00 on the dime is bullshit.

just because bubba cant start playing his intro material at 2:55 doesnt mean that he has to just sit there and stare at the wall!!!

whatever he and the boys are doing during the intro could EASILY be done while they are still off the air before 3:00 therefore eliminating the need for the 9 minute intro.

the bottom line is that there is simply no excuse for a 9 minute intro other than laziness and routine..and for those of you who are cool with that, then ok, whatever. but i can be a fan, AND point these facts out.
