View Full Version : It's definite... Eagles get Takeo Spikes!! mrspoopypants 03-26-2007, 07:07 PM Nice. Any Eagles fans out there like to comment on this glorious acquisition??? Case a Beer 03-26-2007, 07:12 PM The Bills are really working towards a 3-13 season. good for them. McGahee, Spikes, Fletcher, and Nate Clements all gone. JerseyRob01 03-26-2007, 07:15 PM That was a great pick up, but why did they get a one eyed DT( Montae Reagor) Shocker54 03-26-2007, 07:36 PM This is a great trade for the Eagles. We give up just some DT depth which we had plenty of, to get a pro bowl caliber player at a need position for us and filling out the QB depth chart. I guess the Eagles aren't drafting QB this year. Well can't say the offseason was a total bust. I would consider it a success if the Eagles picked up Al Wilson to play ILB for Trotter. But I doubt thats going down. I mean Spikes, Wilson, Gaither and having Gocong to pass rush and just be a specialist. I think I bust a nut if that was the LB core Mark Spitz Jr. 03-26-2007, 07:43 PM yipee shit. the seahawks will still destroy them as they did in that memorable ASS KICKING last go-round at Veterans. johnnyct8285 03-26-2007, 07:45 PM i hate this trade (giants fan). this makes that eagle d that more dangerous. they were incredible last year, even with kearse out almost all year. sorabji_66 03-26-2007, 07:55 PM The Bills are really working towards a 3-13 season. good for them. McGahee, Spikes, Fletcher, and Nate Clements all gone. yup. it's a tough set of home games, with Baltimore, Cincy, Denver, NYG and Dallas coming in as well. oh yeah, and they raised my season ticket price from $470 to $600 to really rub it into me. elroyjonz 03-26-2007, 08:00 PM Glad to see him leave the division and go to the NFC. Shocker54 03-26-2007, 08:03 PM Glad to see him leave the division and go to the NFC. how did he play this year? I didnt get to see much of him in the AFC sorabji_66 03-26-2007, 08:04 PM you can go over to buffalobills.com and read how this was a great move, helping the team sew up an easy playoff run... help me, Spock... otherone4life 03-26-2007, 08:24 PM super ...oh wait it's not 2003 Shocker54 03-26-2007, 08:30 PM super ...oh wait it's not 2003 not bad for a team that was one flinch false start penalty on a 4th down from making it to a 5th nfc title game sorabji_66 03-26-2007, 09:43 PM how did he play this year? I didnt get to see much of him in the AFC nowhere near where he left off before the injury. Elslav 03-26-2007, 09:49 PM The Bills are really working towards a 3-13 season. good for them. McGahee, Spikes, Fletcher, and Nate Clements all gone. Aint that the truth, I mean of them Spikes may be the easiest to let go.. but I dont know what the hell they are doing this offseason. sorabji_66 03-26-2007, 10:02 PM i've been looking off and on, but has Kelsay been taken away or signed yet? the worst piece of the puzzle if they lost him... FUPA 03-27-2007, 12:08 AM this is so fucking awesome!!!! with 5 way ahead of his rehab schedule, the NFL is now on notice. goulash5244 03-27-2007, 12:47 AM biggest steal of the offseason so far... Scottyeli 03-27-2007, 01:22 AM As an eagles fan I love this move. Dhani Jones is terrible and Spikes would be a great fit in at the stong side. Losing Darwin walker is no big deal either since Bunkley is supposed to step it up this year into the starting role. Pete From PA 03-27-2007, 02:42 AM It's about fucking time Reid recognized that you need playmakers at linebacker. It's been one of our Achilles' heels for years. As for Reagor, there's so much depth on their d-line, I don't think it matters much how much he ends up contributing, although I think he'll be fine and be a role player. As for the Bills, they get a very solid d-tackle. Darwin Walker is one of those guys with retard strength, and he is a real leader. He'll be an excellent veteran presence for them as they rebuild. Shocker54 03-27-2007, 08:31 AM As an eagles fan I love this move. Dhani Jones is terrible and Spikes would be a great fit in at the stong side. Losing Darwin walker is no big deal either since Bunkley is supposed to step it up this year into the starting role. We only gave up a 7th round pick in 08 along with Walker. I mean this deal works out great. We had like 20 DT's on the roster. Do you think we are still in the running for Al Wilson that was rumored? Trots kind of sucking ass in the middle. Scottyeli 03-27-2007, 10:02 AM Getting two linebackers in free agency would be very un eagle like but you never know. Trot has deff lost a step and they have to start thinking of a replacement. Gaither would of been that but I love him in the weak side role he's in now. Jack the Hammer 03-27-2007, 10:42 AM Great pick up for the Eagles if his ass can stay healthy Spikes has had a very injury prone career! Shocker54 03-27-2007, 12:59 PM Getting two linebackers in free agency would be very un eagle like but you never know. Trot has deff lost a step and they have to start thinking of a replacement. Gaither would of been that but I love him in the weak side role he's in now. I think the vision the Eagles have is Spikes Strong, Gaither ILB, Gocong Weak. But I dont know if its going to work. timdawg6 03-27-2007, 01:04 PM Lets see if he can be good again, he hasnt done shit in two years, and his contract his up soon. Although they didnt give up much to get him, lets see him stay healthy first A.Lang=Crazy 03-27-2007, 01:45 PM It's a good pickup, but Spikes isn't the player he was 2 years ago. I don't know if he can ever become that player again and if he can stay healthy. I still think it gives the Eagles a good pass rusher they haven't had in awhile and they finally realizing you can't have a shitty lb crew. However now the Redskins look like they will get Briggs and Briggs is alot better than Spikes. Hopefully Briggs stays with the Bears and hopefully the Eagles aren't done and look into getting Al Wilson. Briggs is a cover 2 kind of LB and Greg Williams system is a complete 180. Anyway on NFL Live Mark Shaclaerth is like busting a nut about Takeo Spikes. I feel confident about the deal. jerrybobphil 03-27-2007, 02:15 PM 5 years ago this move would have meant something. But today Takeo Spikes is a shell of his former self. Sorry not a Eagles hater just telling the truth. Shocker54 03-27-2007, 02:19 PM 5 years ago this move would have meant something. But today Takeo Spikes is a shell of his former self. Sorry not a Eagles hater just telling the truth. I am not saying hes all world. But its a hell alot better then what we were throwing out there in his poistion timdawg6 03-27-2007, 02:29 PM He cant even stay on the field. The real story is the Cowboys picking up Hamlin Scottyeli 03-27-2007, 03:06 PM He has been injury prone but the one was the torn achilles and that gets better with time. Hamstring problems could occur whenever but by the end of last year he was doing pretty good. I know he's not the same as 2 years ago but putting him in jim johnsons system could help alot. He has been making players better for a long time. Player 1 03-27-2007, 03:22 PM spikes lol FeelMyUbiquity 03-27-2007, 05:16 PM Great trade! I couldn't give two shits about Darwin 'I play hard sometimes' Walker. Spikes has the attitude and fire the Birds need. Now drop Dhani off naked in the nearest Camden housing project and we'll be good to go. |
