i just ordered my stiletto 100 - i have 2 specific questions:

1) Rather than waiting to hear a favorite song and then hitting the button to save it, can you download mp3's directly from your pc on to the stiletto?

2) what happens if you try to just drive with it and dont have a car kit? i have to assume you'd get no signal but i was just wondering.

Yes you can download MP3's and I belive WMA but the files are larger than if you saved it from Sirius. No you cannnot listen in a car with out the car kit its a special dock that plugs into the Unit. The unit doesn't have connections for an antenna and a power supply, but the dock does...

1. yes, you can import mp3's from your computer, and ...

2. YES!!!!! you can listen to your Stiletto in the car without a docking station. I do it all the time. I have a docking station in my car ... but I travel every week, so I take the Stiletto out of the docking station and it goes with me on the road. When I get my rental car, I put the Stiletto on the dashboard (I have a rubber mat thing that I bought at a car wash that keeps it from sliding around) and I listen to it using my earplugs. Usually the signal is great. Sometimes I might lose it for a couple of seconds but overall it is great.

Side note: now that the weather is getting hot, the unit sometimes overheats sitting on the dashboard. When that happens it shuts down. I assume this is due to overheating anyway. All I have to do is turn it back on (usually after holding it in front of the air conditioning vent for a couple of seconds) and it comes right back on.

This thing is truly handy for those long drives between cities at the end of the day!

You might want to try and do this before it actually shuts off. I have held up other radios to ac vents for the same purpose.

Also, the stiletto fits into the newest universal docks, although not very securely, so if you have one of those, that is another way to get the antenna signal to your radio.

I got mine a week and a half ago, and I love it. Wish there were more accessories for it.

I just got one a few days ago and, to be honest, I was a little learly. After three days I wish I would have bought it sooner. I LOVE it.

Yes, when you record a show it wil ask you how long you want to record for?

But with recording songs, it will start when you hit record, but will stop by itself when the song ends...pretty sweet.

Possible dumb question, but...

Does it pick up the satellite signal indoors? Could I listen to the show at the gym?

That's a big negative. It's great for running outside though.

I can pick up the signal inside my house. It is a single story, and I can get reception in my bedroom. The signal comes in and out to easily. Outside is much better.

Does anyone else have problems with the headphones? They keep falling off my fucking head and it's pissing me off.

The repeaters in St. Louis suck... so I have to use the antenna headphones when walking or biking... I usually wear a baseball cap, so I don't have any issue with them falling off my head.

They also make a home docking station for indoor listening. Very nice if your willing to drop a few more bucks.

I have a stiletto 100 in a home dock and I want to unplug the power supply and run off the battery but the radio goes to sleep. Is it a way around this?

I just got mine to change out my old Replay model. I love it but without the dock i was already worried i changed the subscription too early. I forgot I had an old FM transmitter that hooks up to the headphone jack. I sleep during the day so I let my Stiletto record on my window sill in the shade and charge. Then replay with the transmitter. Better battery life that way too!

BTW I agree with the repeaters in St Louis. Whats weird is where I suppose to work in downtown the Satelite signal and the terrestrial signal fight each other and cancel each other out. I thought the whole point for the repeaters was to work near the buildings. Especially a problem is crossing the bridges to and from MO/IL. I know exactly where it wont work. and every time i brace myself. Another reason I wanted the Stiletto so I could just record it ahead of time for work. Still sucks though...

If you had told me, a few years ago, that I would be the proud owner o fa stiletto, I would have looked at you strangely. Now, I am the proud owner of the S100. I own one stiletto, not a pair. :)

Once you learn how to use all the built-in features, the S100 is a great product. I have not used my iPod since getting the stiletto.

I still think the stiletto is poorly made..especially the software, which freezes up countless times. Also, the car dock's buttons' response time is awful.
