View Full Version : Calvin Johnson vs. Jamarcus Russell
donkrabbit 04-23-2007, 02:25 AM Why are the guys at ESPN speculating that Johnson will be the first pick instead of Russell? Obviously Johnson is the most talented player in the draft, overall, but the QB position is the root of the Raiders' problems. Russell's got a great arm and the Raiders love those deep plays. And if the Raiders do pick up Johnson will they try to get rid of Randy Moss?
Also- as much as I hate the Raiders I can't help but to feel kind of bad for them. Their situation is fucked up and they've got the hardest schedule next season. I'm predicting consecutive worst-records.
Knowledge 04-23-2007, 03:17 AM They will select Russell and then regret it for a very long time...
That is if Culpepper doesn't get released from Miami, cause if he does he's prolly going to Oakland.
chicagoirishtim 04-23-2007, 04:15 AM Never draft a WR in the Top 10, massive mistake ecspecially at #1.
AcquiringSignal 04-23-2007, 07:00 AM They should have drafted a QB last year so now they have too!!! Even though both these 2 QB's at the top arent as good as last years crop.
wojo1932 04-23-2007, 07:20 AM Johnson has can't miss talent, every scout believes he is the best on the board, I personally think that while Russell has an impressive arm, he lacks the tools mentally and physically to be anything more than a strong Byron Leftwich. I'd go with Johnson, and then I would trade Moss or Porter for a strong veteran QB with a bit of mobility.
shootr76 04-23-2007, 07:31 AM theres gotta be someone out of iowa to draft #1
elroyjonz 04-23-2007, 07:34 AM The Raiders desperately need a QB. With all the WR busts of the last decade how any team could take a WR at #1 is beyond comprehension.
Devil_Dog_Dre 04-23-2007, 10:37 AM Knowing Al Davis he will take Calvin Johnson
philljm 04-23-2007, 11:40 AM Can you say "Why did we pass on Matt Leinart" Than you can pick Johnson, no brainer
timdawg6 04-23-2007, 11:40 AM Look at all the first round QB busts, the problem with the number one pick in the NFL unlike the NBA gets paid huge fucking money, so if you pick the wrong dude you are fucked because your salary cap takes a hit, so you are better off drafting Johnson and signing a QB.
Im not sold on Russel and Quinn I dont think is going to turn your franchise around.
SATANS BEST BUD 04-23-2007, 11:47 AM they should use their #1 pick on a long snapper
timdawg6 04-23-2007, 12:01 PM They did pick a fat drunk kicker with their first pick one year
johnnyct8285 04-23-2007, 12:40 PM if the raiders take johnson, it'll be the dumbest move ever. it'll make matt mcmuillen look like a genius and prevent him from taking another WR.
Billyfromsphily 04-23-2007, 01:05 PM theres gotta be someone out of iowa to draft #1
Paul Burmeister is still available!
BatteryChucker 04-23-2007, 01:06 PM Teams always give out false information before the draft to throw off possible deals and trades behind the scenes.

The Raiders front office isn't that smart.
chicagoirishtim 04-23-2007, 01:57 PM Half of the first round picks will be busts, that's what the numbers say. WR is the easiest posistion to fill and if you take Johnson who will throw him the ball? If you stay at 1 you should take Russell, or trade down with the Bucs and take Joe Thomas or trade down further and hope to get Quinn. The Raiders will fuck it up either way with leatherpants makin the call.
ArtieRules100 04-23-2007, 04:13 PM that team is doomed for a while- at least until Al Davis sells the team. i would go for the best talent- which would be Calvin Johnson.
SoCalLion 04-24-2007, 09:59 AM Haven't we all learned by now the important lesson "That the only time a WR is a bust in the early picks of the NFL Draft is when Matt Millen and the Detroit Lions are making the pick"
ArtieRules100 04-24-2007, 04:16 PM True- The Lions are absolute morons- charles rogers, mike williams- those were real winners.
