Joey Boots, MrJeff2000, skp2978, King of all Cable

Jason set us up with King of all Cable. He's a classic stern show phone pranster that will be on the Stern Show Thursday morning. I'm going to have to take Abba up on the bump offer.

What's the plan this week? I need topics

ANDY DICK ROAST (LINK (http://www.sternfannetwork.com/forum/showthread.php?threadid=253576))
- Not including Benjy, who killed? Who bombed? Who went over the line? (Andy, Artie, Sal, Richard, Shuli, Levy, Collin Quinn, Greg Fitzsimmons, Lisa Lampanelli, Yucko, Dave Atell)
- What did you think of Benjy's first attempt? Should he be on the next dais? (LINK (http://www.sternfannetwork.com/forum/showthread.php?threadid=253586))
- What were your favorite roast lines? (LINK (http://www.sternfannetwork.com/forum/showthread.php?threadid=253634))
- Everyone agrees that the audience was flat but there's no clear reason why. Why was this roast a little off? (LINK (http://www.sternfannetwork.com/forum/showthread.php?threadid=253624&perpage=15&pagenumber=1))
- Some people say Andy Dick was a bad choice. Was it? Since everyone gets hit, does it matter who's roasted?
- Who should they do next?
- We all love the roasts but how can they take it to the next level?

HOWARD'S FRIENDS
- This week we had Jimmy Kimmel, Dee Snider, & John Stamos. Are you bored when the friends visit or do you like the look into his real life?

THE MIDGET
- Jimmy Kimmel got Eric to agree to fly with balloons. Since he gets to go to Idol & Kimmel before he puts out, will the little fucker renig on the deal? What should be his punishment if he does?
- What's the best way to do the balloon stunt?

THE GRILLO SHOW
- He wants his own H101 show. What kind of show could he do? Do you care?

TOO MUCH AIRTIME ( LINK (http://www.sternfannetwork.com/forum/showthread.php?threadid=252924) )
Who gets too much airtime, Eric the Midget, Jeff the Drunk, or Sour Shoes?

GOING TO FAIL
When Howard retires, who will fail the worst?
- Main Group - Robin, Fred, Artie, Gary, Sal, or Richard
- Secondary Group - JD, Ralph, Will, Jason, Scott, or Ronnie

ARTIE A NO SHOW
not sure what else to say about this. we've discussed it so many times

THIS OR THAT
Penny Crown or Lisa G? (LINK (http://www.sternfannetwork.com/forum/showthread.php?threadid=253060))
Win Fred's Money or Stump the Booey
Sal the Stockbroker or Richard Christy
Homeless Game or Stripper Game
JD or Grillo
Live or replay

SHOW NOTES

Go straight to the super fan roundtable forum - www.TheFanShow.com

CALLING INTO THE SHOW: When calling into the show, there's no need to give shout outs to SFN or your friends on SFN. You don't need to ask us how we are doing. We don't have a ton of time so please don't waste any of it. We already have topics setup. Please be a good caller and respond to the topics. Thanks 1-888-STERN-101

GUESTS OF THE SHOW: The show airs from the Sirius studios in NYC Times Square. It's on the 36th floor of the McGraw Hill building on the corner of 49th & 6th in studio 21. Guests should be there at 6PM so we can do mic checks. The show goes live at 7PM. You can not bring any friends. our studio is very small and there's really no place for them. I'll need your full name in advance and you need to bring your ID for security. If I don't put you on the list and you don't have your ID, you will not be able to get in.

This is an office and you are expected to be on your best behavior. It's not some free for all party. You shouldn't do anything that you would do when stopping by the bank. You cannot bring alcohol, take off your clothes, make noise, or bother people. I know you are a Stern fan but we're not out at the bar. You need to be cool. Don't stop them and ask for an autograph or photo. Everytime one of you misbehaves, I get a new rule to follow.

You CAN NOT walk around Sirius. You will be escorted from the upstairs lobby to the studio and back out. Do not take it upon yourself to just walk around & check things out. Nobody is allowed to stop by other shows. DO NOT stop by Ferrall's studio under any circumstances even if you think it's OK. I've been told by management that it's not. If you'd like to be a guest on Ferrall, they need to put you on their guest list.

You may take photos in the studio but please do not take pictures in the halls or lobby.

DO NOT sign the wall.

DO NOT plug any businesses or website without approval. If you are going to be on the show and you have something to plug, you need to let me know the day before so I can get it approved. ANYONE WHO PLUGS A WEBSITE OR BUSINESS WITHOUT PERMISSION WILL NOT BE INVITED BACK.

Eric the Midget flys with balloons????
[/B]

If Eric really agreed, where would they actually do this?

The helium volume required makes using the studio with it's hot lights and remote cameras in the ceiling impractical.
OK, the studio is air conditioned so let's say the temperature is 15 to 20C.

Let's also assume that Eric weighs 85 lbs with his clothes and tiny shoes.

Since the balloons are not an empty vacuum but filled with helium, we have to add the small amount of weight of the helium.

So, if on a dry day, not a humid New York day, a cubic foot of air weighs 0.077 to 0.078 lbs and the helium is around .011 lbs per cubic foot, we will need around 1300 cubic feet of helium balloons.

If we could use one large square ballon, it would be 21feet square by 3feet tall.

That's a little big for the studio.

Will Jimmy's heartfelt concern for Artie's weight have a positive effect on him?

Did Jimmy really forget if he saw beth in a bikini or did he pretend not to remember so Howard woulden't think he's lusting after her

2- A topic I'd love to talk about....why does howard still insist on keeping up in the dark about when he'll be on vacation? we're big boys and girls, we've paid for our subscriptions, we know and don't care that he takes vacation.
3-howard is talking about leaving when his contract is up. He loves the spotlight, will he loose it all when he's not on air any longer? Should he continue to have a presence on air even if it's half the time he does now? Would you be satisfied with one week a month? Two days a week? Two weeks a month? Three solid months on, three off? What would keep the taste of howard going?

WCF/SFN Related Issues:

Problem: WCF listeners have two choices - post into the main thread and be 3 hours "off" OR post into a lame, still-struggling WCF thread and miss out on all the cool posts in the regular thread OR keep going back and forth. I have recently returned to semi-regular posting and I see that people are still trying, in vain, to get traction for a WCF thread - it doesn't seem to work.

Proposed Solution: See if there's a way to "clone" the main show thread on a 3-hour "delay". The general idea is this: starting at 6AM Pacific Time (or at the time the show thread gets started), and every 5 minutes (or less) from that moment on, do something like the following -

1) Check the date/timestamp on posts into main show thread
2) Collect them up if they have a date/timestamp that is less to or equal to the current West Coast time
3) Take these posts and dump them into an alternate WCF thread that would basically be a copy or "clone" of the main thread (same thread title but with the words WEST COAST FEED in it or something).

It would be perpetually 3 hours behind the main show thread and WCF listeners (and other late risers on the East Coast) could actively post into it. So... what you would have would be a thread containing "time appropriate" posts for WCF listeners to read and respond to. This would solve the issues of WCF listeners seeing show details before they happen, posting late into the main thread, and the issue of WCF Listening Threads never gaining traction.

Mutt --- to get more specific with this potential requirement, I would need to know more about the data structure of the posts themselves and if the infrastructure has the horsepower to do the "collecting/depositing" feature I'm proposing - which is really the cornerstone of the idea for creating a "cloned" time-appropriate WCF show thread. You would also need to know, each day, the thread ID of the "official" show thread. You could put a mechanism in place - like there could be a unique character string that IDs the show thread (or something). I would leave the technical details to you. This is just a "needs" request.

Please consider this a potential new business requirement for SFN. Call it "The WCF Show Thread Clone" requirement. Thanks for listening, Mutt!

I've been wondering,

What is your take on the guys who worship the number 47?

Here is the link : http://www.47.net/47society/

I'd like to know your take on them

:munch:

Well, I was always honored that they started a whole society that worshipped my birthday (4/7). But 4/7 is also associated with the birth of the "Baath" party. The official founding of the Al-Baath Party is dated from its first party congress in Damascus on April 7, 1947. (4/7/47!!!). And 4+7=11. 11 has traditionally, numerologically, been associated with MAGICK.

I've had correspondence with these folks. And they are the reason for the "47" entry on my Big List:

11/111/x11/1111/111x, 112, 137, 22/222/2222, 3/33/333, 316, 318, 37, 42/420, 44/44x/444, 47/x47, 53, 55/555, 666, 69, 7/77/777, 13/42, 23/32, 88/888, 1212, 1234, 1432

If it's on the Big List, I know someone who "obsesses" over the pattern.

Something you may not know: Joe Menosky (of ST and ST:VOY fame) is connected with the group and put a "47" reference into EVERY SINGLE EPISODE of Star Trek: Voyager. It's on Spike each night, actually. Check it out. Sometimes there’s even more than 1.

Anyway, any other questions on this front, please PM me. I don't want to "pollute" Mutt's brainstorming thread.

Sorry Mutt!

Mutt: Please queue up my idea for a "Cloned" WCF show-thread, though. It would be great for not only WCF listeners but other late-risers as well. And it would create an interesting and unique MUTANT version of the main show thread.

This Guy Is Great

Well, I'm also a Northwest NJ native, a 22-year fan of the show, and I'm aka HelloHelloHello and aka jlwn111 here on SFN. And I'm a VEGAN animal-rights activist, too (just for good measure).

I've asked Mutt twice to be on SFRT. He knows I want to be on. And (I think) he knows I would make for AWESOME radio. But I have not yet asked him for a third time. Yet.

And this doesn't count as me asking. For a third time. Yet.

Is Ozzy Osbourne avoiding the show? Are other regular guests (Belzer) avoiding the show?

Robert Duvall & Cuba Gooding Jr both in
both Oscar winners

M. Night Shyamalan, Ivan Reitman (both very well respected directors/producers- billions in ticket sales)
& Luke wilson

Seriously though, I'm a highly-paid and well-respected IT Consultant with over two decades of professional experience working for a very large and well-known Fortune 100 company. And I've got a MASTERS degree from a well-known Top 20 Engineering school in good ol' Hoboken, NJ. I can send Mutt my official resume if he wants to see how "normal" I am in my private, non-internet, non-paranormal life. There are many sides to my life. Robin, Fred, Artie, Gary, Sal, Richard, JD I say Robin only because she'll try to go the talk show host route and she will have a hard time matching the cash she's getting now. Gary will do just fine but maybe behind the scene, JD, Sal & Richard don't make that much money now so their fall won't be far. Artie will be a big TV success and Fred will become a Rock God.

Marriage: Howard told the Hanson boys that they all got married too young and would be divorced. Is that genuine coming from Howard? Does he really think marriage is a "mistake"? He's always discouraging people. If I were Beth, I might have an issue with that.

The Andy Dick roast: It hasn't happened yet, but we all know it will. Where do we draw the line? Were some of the jokes just too much? Levy tells us that he has some *real* low blows up his sleeve. When does it stop being humor and start being cruel?

Eric and his Balloons: He's roughly the size of a turkey. I've had plenty of college physics. We can totally get him to fly with balloons. But will he renege on his promise? Should Jimmy Kimmel get some collateral or something before he gets Eric into the American Idol finals? What are some of the possibilies for this collateral?

The wrapup show: JD has the worst self-esteem of anyone on Planet Earth. What happened to him to make him that way? He's a great contributor to the show and gives himself no credit for it.

Jeff the Drunk and his nasty ass. Will he shoot himself in the foot to go back to the hospital after he's released and his ass is healed? He's getting three squares a day and a clean and comfy bed, and hot nurses to look after him.

Artie: He mentions in his contract that he may be taking time off to go to work on other projects. Is it wrong of Howard to put him down for that? Should Artie be hurt?

why would you have multiple account let alone multiple supporter accounts?

Different SFN Supporter IDs for different moods. It's as simple as that. And hundreds of dollars for you & the staff to help run the site. And they're not "mults" since they are never used concurrently for nefarious purposes. And Mutt, just for the record, I posted something here that I would like you to talk about on SFRT - the daily "cloned" WCF show thread idea. I still think that is a great idea and it would give late-risers and West Coast Feed folks a time-appropriate thread to post in. What happened next was me defending myself, for a brief time, from vicious personal attacks by my detractors. That's all.

And please note: I asked you twice to be on the show several weeks ago. I haven't asked you for a third time. Yet. Trying not to appear "needy" and stuff. But seriously, if you want my actual resume to see my "normal" side (seasoned IT Professional with a Master of Science Degree who has worked for a Fortune 100 company for the past quarter-century) just let me know via PM. It might increase your comfort level.

Topic for "More or Less" regarding Roasts given today's Trainwreck ---

Less Roasts of people outside the show. In fact, IMHO, Roasts should only be for people on the show. The next Roastee, to save the entire Roast concept from completely "jumping the shark," should be either Howard or Robin. This would save the Roast concept (after the damage that was done today). Yup.

~~~
Have a great show this week, Mutt!!!
:D :D :D
Definitely the roast audience...
-How are these people selected other than the callers?
-Are they the best people to have in a roast setting?
-Do the roasts suck because of the crowd or vice-versa?
-How would you fill the audience?
Bob used to coordinate the audience. He gave that up to the show after the Carver Roast. For the Carver roast, he started a thread and told people to tell him why they deserved to be in the audience and chose the best answers.
Were any roast seats given away over the phone for this roast? Whenever I heard anyone ask, they said they didn't have any. :scratch:
the FANS should be the audience. It works the best. The problem is: who's a fan of Andy Dick?!?! :dontknow: :(
FANS should be there for Robin's/Howard's/Fred's roasts........
Discuss the decline of the show and the fact that a lot of humps will be out of work soon. Unless they could latch on to another show.
I think the problem was , people dont give a shit about Andy Dick...
The roasts were supossed to be "IN HOUSE" attacks on staff members. That is what makes the show funny. I would rather hear them roast JD than hear another gay joke about Andy.
you could hear it in the jokes.... Every comic did 5 minutes, 4.5 on the room and 30 seconds on Andy Dick. And everyone started out great and finished on a low note.....
1) no way are you smarter than me
agreed, it's not even possible ct >>> nj. a bunch pf people from nj went to my high school but i dont know anyone from ct who left for nj to go to high school :p
6) you are also annoying me once again. stop derailing my threads. this thread is for brainstorming roundtable topics.
if I say that I'm not sure I want to have you in the studio, there's no need to make post after post telling me why you are so perfect for it.
also, why would you have multiple account let alone multiple supporter accounts?
Mutt, as someone who has a good amount of Sirius stock, i'm begging you not to let him in the building
ROAST:
Venue
Maybe the roasts should be moved to a larger, rowdier venue, with more FANS there. It's not like you can't find a decent comedy club in NY that could hold it easily.
Time
Morning vs Evening roasts. What's the difference in vibe? Which is better?
I'd vote evenings. Of all the roasts so far, Artie's was the best
agree 100%. and, how about doing it on a Wednesday night & airing it Thursday morning. that way they get an extra day off in exchange for the 2 shows in 1 day hassle. :cool:
Not sure if it is just a topic or a "more or less" but Howard admits that he is the center of his own universe and doesn't like it when others succeed. Given that, should Howard just be quiet about his jealousy of Artie being on television? Or that Artie has other goals as well as working on the Show?
King of Cable came into the studio and talked about old school prank calls...Howard should try and round up all former wack packers who were mentioned in the book Private Parts (still living) and have a reunion segment (Ponce De La Phone, Ratso, King of all Messengers) etc...
