It must suck being Brent and having all of your brilliant political rants ruined by facts. This case has nothing to do with race, that was a claim made by one guy, and goes against statistics. The reason that he got a 10 years sentence is plain and simple.... it was a mandatory sentence. This was not a sentence recommended by the jury, in fact the jury is disgusted by it. The law was poorly written, it was never intended to be applied to teens, but it left out that exclusion, that has been confirmed by the guy that wrote the law in 1995. Since, the case started, the law has been changed to make sure that it doesn't happen again, but they fucked up and didn't make the new law retroactive, so it can't be applied to this case. He has gained supporters everywhere, of all races, and political affiliation. Technically, he is no longer serving a 10 year sentence, nor is he a "sex offender", two weeks ago a judge voided the sentence. However, the judge had no power to do so, and now the prosecution is filing an appeal. Normally, he would receive a bond, so that he could be free pending the appeal, however once again thanks to the poorly written law, he's not eligible for a bond based on his charge. So he could remain in jail up to an additional year, even if the courts decide to uphold the judges decision to void the sentence. When this shit happened with Paris, it was cleared up the next day, this guy could waste another year of his life waiting on justice.


It's cases like this that proves that mandatory sentencing should not be permitted. It is an example of the legislative branch overstepping it's bounds and attempting to take power from the judiciary branch.

Bush's the first President ever to commute someones sentence for covering up his own administrations crimes. and he will still pardon him before he leaves office. Your right though Clinton did pardon "the biggest scam artist that there ever was" in a pardon arranged by the scam artists laywer. A guy named Scooter Libby.

As for Brent, being wrong about something isnt that big a deal. He would be given a lot more slack if he didnt pretend to be an expert on everything and treat everyone like a moron just because they dont agree with him.
