It sucks not being able to hear his show. No stations carry him and it is a mofo trying to find the bit torrent copy of the show only to hear it a day later. I wonder why Howard has not gone to streaming audio at least or move to XM or Sirius (which I have). Even guys like Sean Hannity have a streaming website. Just seems odd.

Why should he stream on the internet for free?
And nothing beats the live show, but why not just go to usenet and get it? The show's barely over and it's posted for your listening pleasure by several sources.

Howard has this thing called a contract with Infinity (the company that airs his show on some of their stations and syndicates it to other companies like Clear Channel).
Howard/Infinity doesn't get paid for streaming broadcasts. That's why they have always been very agressive about shutting down any sites they can that feature his sound bytes or downloadable shows.
Howard can't jump to satellite without probably being in breach of contract (unless Infinity buys one of the outfits) and without betraying Mel.
The world does not revolve around you and your pain.
In order to make all broadcasts "safe" for children, the FCC is already threatening to regulate satellite radio as well as satellite dish/cable TV.
Howard needs an envelope to push in order to be Howard. If he doesn't have limitations, if he doesn't have Tom to scream at for ruining his show, he won't have the show we know. After the initial shock, hearing Howard say "fuckin'" this and that won't carry the show. (E.g., Robbie Knievel dropping "f-bombs" right and left -- that slipped by the "button" for the next day replay as well as during the live broadcast -- on an old Vegas show didn't amount to "entertainment.")

I have never heard Howard mention how any contracts limit his options of delivering the show.
However, he has constantly bad-mouthed everything but the conventional radio business model. In this area, Howard, like the record companies refuses to jump into the "digital age". In other words they are not forward looking -- rather, "stuck in the past old fogeys".

Man I don't read everything posted on here but Howard has not mentioned this and I don't know if it was posted or not but XM is part owned by clear channel...As Jeff the drunk would say it's all about the money dude...I am sure nothing would make clear channel happier than to push Howard off the air and come back and sign him with the finacially struggling XM sat radio.
