When they're not there in full force....it's supposed to make you

Calm down......they will return.....they earn..I mean..they deserve their

happy again....for now they are feeling happy by being away.

A happy Howard is a healthier Howard....and that's something to take into

We all know he is just coasting now. The show is good when they are on, not taking any of that away but he doesn't really care anymore. He's got the good looking girl, enough money to support everyone here and our kids for a few generations and he is an old dude now who seemingly works much harder to be politically correct.

Old Howie has long left the building.

No one's a troll, but I agree. I am so fucking tired of waking up on Monday, and hearing repeats, that I also, flip to KROC to get, at least, some time relevant matter. I'm no big fan, but, what the fuck, one more time listening to how Levy eats blue-cheese out of some trailer park trash's ass is enough to drive me of the edge.

What next?!?! hearing how he can't pronounce "Hedonism" again. Or Dice man... OR Riley.

Enoughs, enough.

Way to much time off... He is all about the money and not so much for the people anymore.

He already said he was gonna leave when the contract is up, hey he has to retire sometime but I think this is bullshit. Atleast put something live on and put MT on its own channel to run 24/7 most of it I already heard and dont really want to hear it again. Atleast sirius rocks and there is always kick ass music going.

Grateful Dead channel preview on Jam On 017 until August 9th. This makes Sirius worth having with no Stern Show in the equation. No muss, no fuss, no disappointments over the blond girlfriend or the Hamptons mansion w/helipad or lackluster used-to-be-into-it shows or anything else. Irrelevant. I'd infinitely rather hear old Dead shows than old Howard shows.

Complaining about Stern Show vacation is like having the janitor complain about my salary and my vacation time. And people who complain about "paying for vacations" need to stop paying. Otherwise its all just mental masturbation.

The difference here genious, is that we are paying to hear Howard. There is nothing "understood" about the decline in show quality and the excessive time off. Many of us are not interested in other channels and subscribed to the service to hear Howard and for the most part nothing more. It's good to maintain a positive attitude and be a loyal fan, but at the same time it gets to a point where it's just fucking rediculous.

Oh I see, since it's been a year and half I should just shut up and be happy about more vacations and the show's content sucking as of late. Pffffttttt. Where would we be if everyone had such a complacent attitude?

The only thing that is amazing, is the people that support the excessive time off and decline in show quality. But hey, if you complain a bit, you must not be a fan and should cancel.

I wonder if the off air people, Richard, Sal, JD, etc. have to work on the Fridays and vacations or is there a skeleton crew? I absolutely hate the phony phone calls and I fast forward through all that shit. It's bad hackey radio. It seems like a way for them to do less talking. Also I fell that the quality of guest has really gone down in flames lately. Post Sattellite Howard can't snare the good guests. If this was about good radio and not ego he would appoint a guest host. For all his faults Carson didn't hose his fans and NOT give them new programming to watch 5 days a week this often. Howard could afford to pay someone to fill in for him, but I think he's too insecure to do it.

08-06-2007, 11:08 AM
Good luck to you guys trying to defend Stern. You have your work cut out for you. I like how last week he was saying no one would listen to Paula Abdul's radio show because no one would relate to her. Well who can relate to this prima donna shit? You take off 2 weeks. 2 weeks! This is a radio show. Fuck a 2 week vacation. Then he comes back for a few weeks and goes back on vacation? Yeah OK.

I love the show and have since the mid 80's. But this is not within the bounds of reason. There is an invisible line in the sand that has been crossed. I'm not even saying anything about the quality of the show. But he said he was gonna do some fridays, he never announces vacations. In fact he purposely omits any info having to do with vacations. And as a paying customer I don't like being treated in a sneaky way like we're all jerk-offs at his feet.

So go ahead and defend him on this. You don't know him and he doesn't know you, so why you're kissing his ass is beyond me. He is the greatest at what he does, but when it comes to this issue, he's full of shit.

Vacation again? Someone start a poll on who thinks they take way too much time off!! someone please calculate how many hours they work a year,

Ok, lets see here,

they work only 4 days a week, at lets even say 5 hours a day. so 20 hours a week. PART TIME BY THE WAY, they are part time employees.

OK so they get 10 weeks vacation a year seems like right? so they work about 40 weeks a year lets say, because of various other days off.

so 40 weeks x 20 hours = 800 hours a year!!

Compared to the average full time working american which the stern show represents. which works-

40 hours a week x lets say 50 weeks per year (vaca) = 2000 hours a year!

So Howard= 800 hours
Full time american= 2000 hours

and they have to sit and talk, I think this is the begining of the end.

He probablly wishes he didnt even have 3 years left.

Artie should start his own show with George, I think that show would be just as good, Artie, George, Fred, Robin and who else?

Wow, spelling genius wrong when trying to insult someone's intelligence makes you look like a total nimrod.

I realize I am in the minority, but I don't care. I love the show, I don't mind if they take vacation. Maybe when you become the manager at Taco Bell, they will give you plenty of vacation time too.

Maybe the people who are happy for Howard just don't post, but I am. I have been a real fan for over 20 years and I am actually happy and proud for them. They deserve more time off for all the great laughs they gave me over the years.

These whining assholes about 12.95 a month. You pay 12.95 to get Sirius, which isn't only Howard. If you don't like paying, STOP PAYING AND SHUT THE FUCK UP ALREADY.

How pathetic is it to whine about it when you pay AND you fucking come on a Howard Stern fan site? It's obvious if you're doing all this you're a big fan, stop lying to yourself already. Jesus.

I think it was pretty obvious this time. The end of the Thurs. show Howard said "I will see you, blah blah blah." Had to censor himself.

The only reason he does that is because he is purposely trying to DECEIVE the listeners. To me that is equally offensive as the vacations.

You guys are fuckin nuts.

How are you defending this? Shut the fuck up. Why are you kissing so much ass?

He should retire or work. If you're gonna do a radio show, then do a fucking radio show. If in a 6 week span, you take 2 weeks off, do 2-3 weeks of show, then take off another week, maybe it's better to call it a career.

If it was reasonable, he would announce the fucking vacation. He knows it's horseshit, hence the lying about it.

I am totally cool with the fact that he takes vacations. What I want is for them not to play reruns from any of the sirius shows. No roasts, no sports week. 08-06-07/08-10-07 –- Vacation
08-13-07 Live Show

08-27-07/09-03-07 –- Vacation + Labor Day
09-04-07 Live Show

11-19-07/11-23-07 -- Vacation + Thanksgiving
11-26-07 Live Show

I have been listening to Howard for many many years, he has NEVER EVER announced a vacation, NEVER EVER. If you are a fan of the show, you know when he takes them Actually he'll announce the obvious ones like Thanksgiving and Christmas. :)

Most commercials are now 10 - 15 minutes. Terrestrial radio commercials are like 20 -25 minutes. So we get a big 5 to 10 minutes of Howard? Wow…. This is awesome. They can curse and we get 5 to 10 minutes more a week! This is so worth 13 dollars a month.

The only way anyone should pay $13/month is if they did 5 shows a week, commercial free, and no more than 2 months vacation a year.. I don't think that's unreasonable.. (seeing as it's the Stern fans that are covering the $500,000,000 tab).

I think you can guess where I stand on that issue. ;)

Fuck 0ff Tr0ll.

The Show is following the same schedule they observed last year and at KROCK.

They took the first full week of August off last year; it was hardly a "sneaky . . . surprise" that they'd take the same week off this year.

If you actually subscribed to Sirius and listened to Howard's sign off on Thursday, you'd have heard him say, "We'll see you blah-blah-blah" which is his typical before-vacation sign off.

So, scamper off to your troll bored. Your kind isn't welcome here. :hw:

Some "Stern Show Revelations":

I am tired of the vacations. Have some damn respect for the people who are paying for reruns that were on free radio. You got paid $500 million asshole, get off your f'n ass and earn that damn money. I wish that Beth would leave his ass, makes me sick how much he talks about her on the show and I really could care less about their relationship. I see why Ralph is so negative now, his party buddy is gone so he has to get mad at someone. Advice to Howard: ask Beth for your balls back, regain your focus, and stop acting your age.

I'm not going to say Howard takes too much time off, nor am I going to say Howard should take more time off. But when your JOB (and it is his JOB), is to basically be a public servant, and serve your fans, then maybe it's time to DO YOUR JOB!

How can you say you're a radio DJ when you're never actually on the radio? I don't get it.

Let's be honest here. When Howard signed this huge contract with Sirius, we all knew we were going to get the uncensored version.....but not massive replays of old shows. We are hearing stuff we already heard FOR FREE.

I think if Sirius wants to be admirable about the whole situation, then they need to let future subscribers know that the Howard Stern Show will be off 10-15 weeks per year. A lot of people, including myself, only signed on to Sirius because of Howard, but now we feel duped.

If Howard and Gang need that much time off, then there is a definite problem. You don't take a whole week off because a co-worker is having a 55th birthday. If you're in radio, or satellite, you celebrate that 55th birthday with your audience, the audience that has been there EVERY DAY !!

Oh well, whatever. I won't terminate my subscription just because Howard hasn't lived up to the hype of Sirius. There is very good programming on Sirius other than Howard. But Howard is THE face of Sirius, whether Sirius likes it or not. And Sirius has made a deal with the devil that they will regret in the long run.

The "Howard" that everyone is lamenting is the "Howard" who always went far and above his contract requirements. He spent an hour longer on the air every day than his contract required because he loved it and was on fire. Since he came to Sirius and got the big payday, he's been doing less than the bare minimum.

He would have never build such a loyal and rabid following if he pulled this shit for the last 20 years. That's why everyone is so pissed, we're getting a guy who is simply fulfilling his contract not the Howard Stern we knew and loved.

As an honest to god fan for year now, I must confess that it sucks to wake up Monday and realize that it is the "Sports week" or what ever its called. Not the best material IMHO. Plus, vacations do seem to be a little excessive these days. I'd almost rather see them take longer periods less frequently.

It's the summer time, and most members of the media and people in showbiz who we are used to seeing on a daily basis have the same amount of vacation time.

They figure people can live without their beloved hosts for a few weeks here and there seeing as though its summer and everyone will be taking vacations, etc.

The problem is, so many of these whiners have no life once the wrap-up show ends.

i honestly have stopped caring about vacations. the show sucks in its current state, and sometimes it's nice to hear a time when howard cared about the show.

Agreed, a motivated Howard was much more enjoyable to listen to.

Isn't it only because it's the summer that they're taking so much time off? I mean, after Labor Day they're gonna be back on the normal schedule, working week after week...right?? :omfg:

Well not exactly. There is Veterans Day and several Jewish holidays then Thanksgiving and Xmas, buckle up.

Here's an idea about the vacation.

If they're gonna take so much time off in the summer do it all at once so they don't interrupt the flow.
