Report says agency is set to announce new six-figure fine against popular shock jock.
April 5, 2004: 12:15 PM EDT
NEW YORK (CNN/Money) - The FCC is about to hit Infinity Broadcasting with a fine of more than $100,000 for a show by radio shock jock Howard Stern, according to a published report.
The FCC is expected to announce a new six-figure fine against the Howard Stern show within a week, according to a published report.
The trade publication Broadcasting & Cable said that the fine against the Viacom unit Infinity is expected to be handed down within a week.
It said the fine will be the first one involving Stern that will hit the broadcaster with a separate fine for each indecent "utterance" during a program. Previously, broadcasters were hit with a single fine no matter how many times a program crossed the line. But the commission put broadcasters on notice late last year that they would now face possible multiple fines on the same program......Link (http://money.cnn.com/2004/04/05/news/fortune500/stern_fcc/)

No more poo poo and wee wee jokes on the radio. :)
One thing that's gonna suck is that nobody is gonna have the chance to try out for John's Job. :(
ImusBlewKC 04-05-2004, 07:33 PM GOD DAMN IT! FUCK THE FCC! SHIT! I FUCKIN KNEW IT!!!!
Tom from T.O. 04-05-2004, 07:45 PM New Contest.....WIN HOWARD'S JOB!!
Yeah...that's more like it. :D
Howard Stern...onward and upward.
None of this news is really all that negative.
...Howard is crying all the way to the bank.
The more that Howard plays up leaving radio...the more deals
that Don is able to go out and work and jerk.
It's so win win all around.....it's so damn amusing.
....all of this misheegoss has the makings of an interesting
reality based show...or possibly some wild and inventive
breakthrough type of game show. ;)
Has anyone else read this quote in its entirety? This is the point I think where people start to wish for MA to appear on the scene.
deidler 04-05-2004, 07:47 PM misheegoss

FUGLY2 04-05-2004, 07:58 PM Bye bye Howard.
Take your wee wee and poo poo jokes to satellite radio.
Maybe you can do another movie about it.
Will you be getting satellite radio then, and continuing to listen and griping?
Or will you stop listening, but continue to gripe about., whatever it is your'e griping about on here. Just wondering.
Tom from T.O. 04-05-2004, 08:06 PM What's wrong with it?.....it's the dead on truth...including the
mention of the projects at the end.
Howard Stern......businessman first...showman second.
...dollar dollar bill ya'll. ;)
Don't let the facts confuse you.....I support Howard....but only
up to a certain point.
I read the first three words of your post and after that the WINST effect took hold and I could read no more. I am not MA, but if it makes you feel more comfortable I will try and imitate him, to the best of my ability, OK, its the effort that counts, are you still banging Dame Edna my happy friend?
sexecutioner 04-05-2004, 08:46 PM The article says $100,000 fine for multiple offenses on a single show.. That's the current fine of $27,500 per incident, just multiplied a few times for multiple incidents in a single show. Nothing too shocking. This fine means absolutely nothing.
The FCC is doing this to set a precedence so that when.. not if, the Indecency bill passes they will be able to cripple infinity with absurd fines..
We are still in the same boat.. just waiting for that bill to become law. Until that happens whoopty fuckin doo.
Undefeated 04-05-2004, 08:48 PM YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!

TheBlueprint 04-07-2004, 08:40 PM So what happened with this? God damn!!!
Fuck the FCC!!!!!
oldpaddy 04-08-2004, 02:29 PM Cut and pasted from www.howardstern.com
Howard's Response To The FCC's Actions:
"This is not a surprise. This is a follow up to the McCarthy type "witch hunt" of the administration and the activities of this group of presidential appointees in the FCC, led by "Colin Powell Jr." and his band of players. They and others (a senator from Kansas City to a congresswoman from New Mexico) are expressing and imposing their opinions and rights to tell us all who and what we may listen to and watch and how we should think about our lives. So this is not a surprise. It is pretty shocking that governmental interference into our rights and free speech takes place in the U.S. It's hard to reconcile this with the "land of the free" and the "home of the brave". I'm sure what's next is the removal of "dirty pictures" like the 20th century German exhibit in a New York City Museum and the erotic literature in our libraries; they too will fall into their category of "evil" as well.
