View Full Version : Howard from Ohio
Scales 09-12-2007, 10:46 PM O.k, I mentioned it in a few threads yesterday and again today.
It seems a lot of us will remember that call for a long while. I am now listening to the replay of the Howard show, and they are about to replay that on the Stern show.
My first impressions of it that I posted, was that guy is the real deal, he sounds to me like someone who has killed, beaten and maybe done a rape for money.
When he said something like "If I could come through this radio right now man, I'd take your breath away" was very sobering. I pulled my truck over at that one.
And then, when Brent asked if he could say something, Bubba told him he could, and then Howard from Ohio said Brent could, and it seemed to be with a lot of coviction. Made me laugh.
And then his last rant on, where he had to hang up because Bubba had him shaking mad.
He presented himself way better than I could if i was as mad as he sounded, he sounded very pissed, and like a really dangerous man.
The picture I have in my head is a black and white picture that is in some biker books, I can't find it on line right now. But it is the one of Big Al Perryman (RIP, Oakland HA) with what it looks like a bunch of chew in his cheak, his many tattoo's, his big belly, his spiked arm bands that he used for fighting, and his trusty pitbull on a tight leash, glaring at the camera.
They should give Howard from Ohio his own show!!!!!!!!
Miller 09-12-2007, 10:57 PM First congrats to Bubba for getting his props by Howard today on this call.
Second Howard from Ohio got 3 spins on 100 and 101 the countless bumpers.
Third it seems like we are all forgetting Big Dick...he made the decision to let this call through. I think we all have to give him some credit here. It was a damn good call.
4th, I agree with Howard, come A+ radio by Bubba. Let's hope Mel and crew were listening...Get it done kid, if not for Bubba fans, for Sirius in 3 years.

Well wouldn't you if that crazy sounding dude was on the phone? But yeah, that was the best call I've heard in a long time, so props to all involved.

Bubba did a good job with asking him for more critical comments, and got into that contrite kind of talk and voice when someone takes a well informed stab at him.
I was glad he ddin't hang up in panic, again.... :D :D :D
Miller 09-12-2007, 11:13 PM Howard is known for his great interviews. Me, I love Howard but I am not always that interested in interviews be they on Bubba or Howard. I love most the part of the show where Howard/Bubba just BS with the crew.
That being said our lovable Sponge had some interviews the past year and a half that have impressed the hell out of me, sure both shows have but I think sometimes people forget this aspect of Bubba. I think sometimes people get so wrapped up in Bubba messing up words, making fun of himself, doing over the top shock radio and being an over all goof they forget old boy can do an interview. Phone calls are just a different type of interview and the boys have struck gold on more than their share of calls/interviews.
Pills 09-12-2007, 11:35 PM Bubba is always conscious of the fact that one of these gorillas (Howard From Ohio) could be a misguided member of Lasker's Outlaw Biker friends...no need to piss off any of that crew...

That thought came to me very soon. No offense to the outlaws, but that guy seemed more hardcore and heavy to me, to be in the outlaws.
If he would have been in the outlaws, I'm sure he would have said so. That is how they roll.
In any case, that was a scary fucking guy, and I know Scary fucking guys when I hear them.
I hope they play that call again.
Scales 09-12-2007, 11:46 PM Conspiracy Theory #1
Howard is Genes Bastard Father, who only knows his son through Bubba's show, and is fucking mad that he is losing contact with his son with Lasker off the show.
Scales 09-12-2007, 11:50 PM Just heard the replay. Howie knows compelling conversation, they really put it over.
Awesome!!!
'You got me shakin dude....'
modeams 09-13-2007, 01:03 AM I archived that show and wanted to listen to it on Bubba's show rather than Howard replay...
anyone know approximately what time he calls in?
cronic tester 09-13-2007, 08:02 AM well howard from ohio had a point , one we should listen to . Dont drag the death of his kid into it !! If Lasker is a lackie then he is , but no need to bring up the pain of family death. bubba should say sorry for digging up that bone !
Casual 09-13-2007, 11:12 AM I agree with Howard. I don't think Bubba needed to go there. He could have been pissed off at Gene without bringing up his dead daughter. I know that Bubba didn't mean anything bad by it and was trying to show how close they were but I still think it came off wrong. I think it would have been better to not even go there.
Also Bubba kind of pissed me off the other day when the cheating whore called in. Bubba tries to act like a man's man but then he's the first one to enable her for his own show and radio gold(as far as trying to get her to cheat w/ someone on his show.) I thought that was kind of hypocritical and selfish. I love it when he calls them a whore and builds the false sense of security tho.

anyone know approximately what time he calls in?
between 3:45 and 4:00 p.m.
Slayer 09-13-2007, 12:21 PM Howard from Ohio was great, but he was wrong. All Bubba did was point out the type of relationship he and Lasker had. People die all the time, no one is supposed to talk about it? Lasker screwed Bubba, then tried to get holier than thou on Bubba's own website. It was bullshit and Bubba was pissed.
mkriss5681 09-13-2007, 12:32 PM Scales I wish I could reach through this computer and take your breath away. You make me sick!!
jk :D

Oh shit, I'd LOVE to hear the first contact with Big Dick and Howard from Ohio! Dick might have shit himself!
DirtySanchez35 09-13-2007, 10:15 PM Dudes, friends, and fellow fans,
I will agree with the first post to a point...yes the guy sounded hard..but what does that mean?
In my years around the world it does not mean squat.
I have been in the military for 15 years, trained CQB,NLW..Close quarter combat and non leathal wepaons with the best in the business and I still consider myself a pussy and would never pick a fight in the blind. You have to be a bit nuts to boast and talk like that.
I am sure the indiviual that called had an expieriance similar to Laskers that triggered those emotions just as I am sure he has calmed down by now. I wish him the best in coming to terms with whatever he related to and caused that anger.
IronCladPreNup 09-13-2007, 11:38 PM He was a dick.
RoaringMad Mac 09-14-2007, 10:39 AM Dudes, friends, and fellow fans,

I totally agree with this statement. I have been a cop for over 13 years and it just amazes me when someone calls a radio show and talks like that. I mean what do they think they are going to do. We are so bombarded in the media today with countless things that can tick us off. Just because someone sounds dangerous does not mean they really are. In fact that is most likely the way they blow off steam. Getting it off of their chest so to speak. If that person was really dangerous they would just go up there and start shooting. Giving little or no warning what so ever. I am sure Bubba and crew know this.
I think IMO what took him back was the fact that a fan was that pissed off and he was caught off guard trying to bundle up what he was going to say next. Radio is so shoot from the hip type of thing and people absolutely pay no attention to tone. That is why Bubba got so mad with Brent when he was only making a joke proving Bubba acts like a big baby most of the time keeping that chip on his shoulder. This morning they replayed the start of that conversation on the wrap up show and proved that Brent was only picking. You have to know the tone in which someone speaks you can tell a lot from tone. Unlike on threads such as this.
Good post though previous poster.
bringmepizza69 09-14-2007, 10:59 AM Howard from Ohio needs his own portion of the show. Perhaps a Bubba vs Howard -Ohio Debate.
DirtySanchez35 09-14-2007, 10:52 PM Thanks for the props Mac, I am sure in our line of work we have both seen this a million times.
moneymaker 09-15-2007, 08:12 AM It was radio gold, need more calls like this and bring back that kid from Phoenix who was hilarious.
Ned'sTesticles 09-15-2007, 09:57 AM Regardless... this guy played the telephone tough-guy role better than anybody I've heard in a long time. People try to call up all the time and get under the guys' skin, but this guy.... whew, he left a hell of an impression.... made for some great radio
jmp1973 09-15-2007, 07:59 PM How ANYONE could get that upset over anything Lasker related is beyond me. I didn't think it was radio gold and I was surprised to hear Howard Stern get so excited about the call. Guess that's why I'm only a listener...
driver 09-15-2007, 08:12 PM jmp, like someone said earlier Howard may have had a previous experience in his life that was triggered by what Bubba said.
Us humans are some funny critters. For some people all it takes the most inconsequential comments to turn them into a fire breathing dragon.
