Unfortunately due to a schedule change I've fallen out of a regular listening pattern with the show, so it's entirely possible that this is a question that has been answered on the show. Brent claims to be a libertarian in a couple of his blogs and seems to have libertarian leanings... but I've heard him say on multiple occasions he is an Edwards supporter. How can that be a match? Ron Paul is the obvious candidate that reflects true libertarian ideals and is the definition of a Constitutionalist. Has Brent ever made mention of Ron Paul on the show or explained why he supports John Edwards over a guy like Ron Paul or Dennis Kucinich who both seem to support more of the ideas that Brent has supported.

Brent has mentioned Ron Paul many times and agrees with his views. However, for some reason he is supporting Edwards this election.

he is supporting edwards, i believe because Edwards has the best chance of winning and he likes him. he is being realistic.

While I understand that, I think it's a shame that someone as passionate as Brent seems to be in his beliefs would pick a candidate because he thinks he has a shot to win. You can call it naive but I have never understood why someone would settle on a candidate they didn't think was the best person for the job just because they are more popular.

I think Brent is supporting the non-republican that has the best chance of winning and balances his views. As they said on the Simpons:
Voter: Well maybe I'll vote for a third party candidate. . . .
Kang: Go ahead, throw your vote away.
