Dan the Song Parody Man

Hey Everyone,
What an incredible week! I thought it best to present the show with material that I created while I was there, rather than stuff that was meticulously prepared in advance. I'd be lying through my teeth if I said that I hadn't thought of some of the things in the past, but they were written and produced while I was there. Anyone who thinks that they may have a shot at a week is probably doing some major preparation and pre-production, but make sure to show them what you can do on the fly by yourself, because that's what counts![hr]
After a sleepless week on the Stern Show, plus a sleepless weekend doing my miserable band gigs, I'm back! I had hoped to get some sleep tonight, but after all the catching up I have to do here and elsewhere, I'll be damned if I don't wake up at 5:55am to listen to the first threat to my future livelihood! Yes, I do know who is going next, and anyone who wants the scoop can hit me up on aim anytime after 10:00am tomorrow. PLease excuse me if I jump back and forth from topic to topic, but my brain is somewhat fried right now.
The Sternack bit went horribly wrong, partly by miscommunication on my part. It was my intention to be in the studio during that bit, playing the Jackie role, who used to laugh uncontrollably at his lame jokes, and complain when they didn't find one funny, or not get it al all (in high Jackie voice) "Aw, c'mon, that's funny, what the hell do you know?" That was the strongest part of the bit as I had written it, (and my favorite part of the bit when listening in the old days) and would have kept it rolling along. For whatever reason, I wasn't called into the studio, and they just started the bit while I was in the office. No biggie! I still think its one of the best things I've ever written. OK, enough of that crap.
Everyone on the staff, from the interns all the way up to Howard were great and made me feel right at home. I shared "Wood Yi's" production room with JD Mon-Wed, since he was out of the office, then spent most of the time in main Stern Show office, where KC, Will, Jason, & the interns all work, with Gary's office at the other end of the room. My friend Jeff Beacher, from Beacher's Madhouse at the hard Rock in Vegas, gave me keys to his apartment only 2 blocks away from K-rock to cut down on the commute which was a huge help.
I was bummed that the audio to my celeb interview got screwed up, but hopefully it can be recoverd enough to put some snippets on the E! show. If not, that's life. They all gave me the impression that they were very impressed with my work from the past, as well as what I did that week. I submitted a ton of ideas for bits, games, guests, etc. that you may see/hear in the future. The excitement of the forthcoming Vegas week was in the air, and believe me, its going to be the mother of all events! If you only get one week of vacation time every 5 years, use it on this, and you won't regret it!
Ronnie caught me completely off-guard when he pulled me aside, and it came from so far out in left field I didn't know how to react at first. If you had described the scenario in advance to me, and told me that someone would have reacted to my passing along of KC's request in that manner, I would have said "not in a million friggin years, no one is that delusional". It was a real shock after he had treated me like "one of the guys" the up until that point, but I guess for him, if you're "one of the guys", you're a potential target for when he occasionally snaps. Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Mund ! I'm happy that it ultimately made for entertaining radio for everyone, and I'm even happier that I was able to sneak out of there with my life intact!
The minute I left the studio, I had to return to my normal (or should I say regularly abnormal) routine, running all over NJ, NY & PA, setting up cheesy band gigs. My week on the Stern Show is a memory that will last a lifetime, and hopefully the start of the next chapter in my life. Best of luck to everyone else fortunate to get a shot. If I think you have the dedication and can do the job better than me, you can count on my vote!
I'm sure that there's a lot more to tell you, but that's all Ican think of for now. Feel free to fire away any questions, and I'll answer them as best as I can.
Oh, yeah... I was given a cool piece of memorabilia from the head of the technical department that I'm going to incorporate into one of the ideas that I pitched to the show. I'll tell about that later.
G'nite
