morning guys :hw: ... I sure wish Howard would stop talking about Imus and the fact that he's getting a gig without having shit for ratings.... and start discussing Bubba, what he's accomplished in the ratings, and why he's getting the shaft right now. He just spent about 10 minutes feeling sorry for Kurtis and Koobie or whoever they are for having great ratings and getting replaced by Imus... come the fuck on. If he DOESN'T address the situation today, it's bullshit.

There has been a lot of talk on Stern this week about the past and paying your dues, fighting for creative control, etc. Hmmm. I dig Colin Quinn though. I was lucky enough to meet him outside of my hotel in NYC. He was very cool.

Morning Everyone.

When I was listening to Howard this morning I heard a commercial for Bubba on 100. Was that the first time they have done that or have they had other commercials for Bubba's show on 100 before? It was a commercial with Spice and Brent talking about today's show.

I found it interesting when Howard was discussing how he was dicked with by management in Washington D.C. this morning. Howard thought management was wrong for doing it.

The entire discussion just made me think of Bubba and the shows current situation with Sirius.

I have a question and their may not be anyone who knows or gives a crap what the answer is or if there even is an answer.

If you take a look at some of the stock / financial message boards there is a LOT of mentions about what Howard's bonus this year will be. Several experts are putting the number at around $170 million. Now, if money is so short that Howard is doing skits about telling Bubba he may have to take less money for the good of the company, how in the hell can the company afford to pay ANYONE a bonus?

Seems to me, EVERYONE needs to do their part for the company and turn down gigantic, ridiculous bonuses. Even if the bonus is strictly stock, there is a financial impact on the company.

Has anyone looked at who the largest single stockholders are of Sirius? Karmazin and Greenstein own the largest chunks and are constantly trading them (which is typical of CEO types). Howard is not listed as one of the top 5 single owners, but I guarantee he is in the top ten and has a helluva a lot more say so in what is done than he lets on.

IMHO, Howard needs to step up and do the right thing. Someone posted somewhere if the roles were reversed, Howard would be unleashing all holy hell on the air and off the air to get what he wanted or thought he deserved. SOME people would say Howard has sold out to the suits and has no soul left.

That's my take...I'll shut up and sit down.

CHU

SOME people would say Howard has sold out to the suits and has no soul left.

Factoring in his compensation and impact on the overall company, Howard is the suit or a suit at this point.

Factoring in his compensation and impact on the overall company, Howard is the suit or a suit at this point.

Is that a good thing or a bad thing? does that exempt him from responsibility for how Bubba is being treated? IF Howard is one of the main suits at Sirius, is he included when anyone says "damn the man"?

Is it just me or does this week's theme on the Stern show seem a little contrived? Howard, et al, acting like they are the only ones who have paid dues to be where they are? Personally, I'm a little sick of it and quite a bit disappointed in Howard's attitude about this whole thing. It's very easy to preach from the top of the mountain...or shit on people from the top of the mountain.

Its depressing as hell hearing them say that the Dec 21st wrap up show will truely be the wrap up show. Sirius has got to wake up and budge on this.

Damn....this doesn't sound good to me....as a sirius subscriber, it doesn't sound like Bubba is going to be around. I cannot cancel my sub over this, I have been a Howard fan for too long and I love the Grateful Dead channel and many of the music channels.

I am pissed about the short sightedness of Sirius, although i did get a laugh when Howard was playing "Show us the fucking money" from Bubba and saying"would YOU want to be at the table discussing with that guy?" But i do believe that if Bubba is gone - Howard probably could have done more. The comparisons with Riley Martin and John the stutterer's show aren't apples to apples - those guys don't make enough to live off of those dopey shows.

Bubba did get a huge second(thrid, fourth, fifth?) chance through Howard and I am all warm and fuzzy over Howard helping a former competitor out....I just wish he cared more about keeping him, because if he did care more about keeping Bubba, you know he would get re-signed.

But it will be up to "friends of the show" to alert them of any ripoff torrent sites pirating the show.

I have HughesNet...it blows. Lots of restrictions with how much you can DL & UL in a 24 period...randomly dropping service...etc. You gotta pay 400-600 bucks up front for the equipment and then anywhere between 50 & 70 bucks a month for the service...or, do a 2 year contract and pay for the equipment in payments...and it's anywhere between 112 & 130 a month that way for the 1st 2 years...and then you go to normal payments after that. It IS better than dialup, but it's definitely a pain in the ass.

I'm totally confident that no matter where or how he's broadcasting, we'll have access to live streaming and dowloadable shows. As far as the net connection goes, you can't even get DSL where you're at????... If not, ever checked into Hughesnet??... the satellite internet deal??? I think it's like $59 a month or something. No the only thing I can get is Satelite but the last time i checked they want 900 bucks for equipment and set up then it starts at 59 a month and goes up from there. Exactly what is this "Revolution" that you speak of?

Does it include:
- Four-day work weeks and the dependence of tapes for the fifth and 10 weeks of vacation.
- A mock news team that will not and is afraid to cover the main members of the staff.
- Specialty shows that include free labor interns, a bodyguard who tells bullshit stories and a gag-song show.
- A producer walking into the studio to ask the predictable question of, "Do you want to get naked and ride the Sybian."
- Someone who will no longer talk about his personal life, except to mention what star he had dinner with or who's party he attended.

I cannot support an entity that does not reward production and hard work (10-hour turnaround).

Of course Bubba would jump at an opportunity like that because of the exposure it woud get him. Howard on the other hand has done Letterman, Leno, Conan, numerous times. Its not like he needs the exposure. I dont think its being lazy, he is just questioning if its really necessary. He has said since his first Letterman appearance back in the 80s that he hates going on talkshows.

T-radio, podcasting. internet radio...might pay the bills for now...but won't it be hard to gain exposure, new fans, and generate higher income in the long run? Plus, a huge core of Bubba's audience is FTE's...will be a lot harder to get the show on the road. Sirius is so easy, just turn it on and enjoy. I think Bubba knows this, and that's why he's willing to take a pay cut to keep the exposure level up. He must really be at the breaking point (or sadly impatient) because he's walking away from a long-term cash cow. Like he always said to his crew - think about the future (post-Howard), this about the opporunity here (Sirius). Sad. :(

but if u dont like it, thats cool. but u gotta admit, he has earned his stripes tenfold.

Don't get me wrong Bryan... I enjoy Howard's show for sure... but honestly I just expected more. I expected this "Revolution" to be a fucking party for years to come... and too many times Howard has just kinda let me down with his schedule and his programming at times. I don't dislike the show, I just had higher hopes is all. And... I appreciate you being cool enough to discuss things like this maturely. Not all the Stern fans would handle discussions like this while respecting others' opinions.

I can promise you though... he definitely WAS signed well before Howard was. Like I said, some people just don't give Bubba enough credit for paying his own dues. :)

For the record... Bubba was already under contract with Sirius well before Howard was. Bubba's deal was put on hold in order to debut on Howard's channel. The truth is that Howard simply accepted Bubba on his channel. I'm not trying to smear Howard... I DO have issues with his dedication to the channel and his ego at time, but I'm tired of everyone being misinformed and making it out as if Bubba has earned the deal he got with Sirius, as if he hasn't made sacrifices and hustled his whole life to get where he's been. Bubba deserves credit for what he's achieved, and nobody else in my opinion.

Lets be honest though, if he didnt have the name Howard Stern behind him Bubba would have even less leverage than he has now. I didnt know who Bubba the Love Sponge was until he joined Howard's team and I think that goes for alot of people that joined Sirius too. I like Bubba and will be sad to see him go but I think all the anger at Howard is misdirected.

Why would you fuck with Howard's show? Bubba might still be sitting home unemployed if it wasnt for Howard. Bubba has said that many times. Bubbas appreciation for Howard has been expressed on a weekly basis and it got him absolutley nowhere. All its done for him is got him an offer for less than his last one which was shitty. If Howard was any kind of a MAN he would fucking say how rediculous this is and be vocal about it. Its clear they are ridding Bubba and im sure Howards holding the door on his way out

Sad. :(

C'mon..read between the lines.....Bubba is being given the "bums' rush". A financial offer less than what he signed for 2 years ago plus contol restrictions....They're basically firing his ass..

I LOVE Bubba's show. But i jsut like howards show better. but thats me. Id be sad if bubba goes. but i wont cancel sirius. however, if bubba was to say for shits and giggles, go to XM (considering there is no merger), i would defiantly consider getting a XM subscription jsut for Bubba.

I agree. The "Revolution" seems like it's all a big work. If you listen to Howard, espicially during the news, all he ever does is hurry the show along. It seems like he cares more about getting the show over than anything else. I guess he has to get back to his important chess game and ignoring his supermodel fiance thats 20 years younger than him.

That's a good point. Offering a talent less ($ AND control) is a pretty big slap in the face. You're right. Probably figured Bubba's a bigger liability (merger) than he's worth, so they're forcing him out. Good cop (Howard) bad cop (Corporate). Interesting,

Oh I totally agree... but Bubba also served a purpose for Howard in a major way. I'm just trying to balance things out. I'm a frustrated fan, and it's only natural to start making comparisons when Howard is so well taken care of and Bubba is being treated like an indentured servant who should feel lucky to have worked under the h101 banner. Imagine is ALL it meant for Howard to Sirius was what we get on 100... I doubt that we'd still have as many satisfied customers if it weren't for guys like Bubba and Scotty picking up the slack with their work ethic and special brands of entertainment. With all the time off the Stern show takes, the natives would get restless, and I doubt a solid Howard crowd would be satisfied with Maxim, Raw Dog, or Sirius Stars to compensate. Howard fans are a rabid bunch, thirsty for entertainment and are as critical as the best of them. I truly think that it's because of guys like Bubba and Scotty that Howard CAN enjoy the twilight of his career without a complete revolt by the fans. Bubba helped Howard as much as Howard helped Bubba in my opinion.

They did not give him all those stock options to not listen to him. He has the power he just is not using it where he should be. Artie just re-signed. I bet you he wasn't ASKED to take a PAYCUT!!

Why? Because Howard realizes that without Artie, the show goes flat very quickly. He can't hold a show like he did back in the nineties when he was in his prime and desperately needs Artie's frequent input to keep the show relevant.

How can they justify keeping that horrible Howard 100 news team if ther money is so tight.
