View Full Version : Bubba let another hint out today about the Friday deal

Mutt

If you've been paying attention, Bubba's got a new Friday deal with Tim that he can't talk about yet. Before today the only other clue we had about it is the AM terrestrial show won't be able to go late past 10:30AM. This has sparked all kinds of speculation about the Friday Bubba Sirius show being moved to an earlier timeslot to something like 10AM, 10:30AM, or 11AM. It could never be earlier than that because of their Cox deal but at least it would be live content for Friday mornings. A 10:30AM timeslot means we'd have Bubba right after Mastertape / his terrestrial show.

Keep in mind that this is all rumor & speculation.

Today's hint was we are scheduled for the 11th but we need to wait till Howard announces it next week. The next Friday the 11th is April 11th which is right around the corner. The next Friday the 11th isn't until July. There's no way they'd be all excited about a July deal. it's gotta be April.

Other news about Fridays, a week ago Jay Thomas announced on his show that he was the new Howard 101 Friday AM guy. I have not been able to confirm this but it's possible we'll have Jay at 6AM & then Bubba right afterwards.

You'll never complain about too many commercials on Stern again after hearing Jay Thomas. 3 or 4 breaks an hour.

bubba's mid day show could become a 5 day per week event, which would guarantee his continued employment at Sirius for years to come

Post merger approval this could have some validity, along with Thomas' show after Bubba's? I would think Sirius Stars channel would be dissolved.

Jay live at 6 is a great idea.

If Bubba's show is moved to 11 that's complete bullshit. We rather have a live afternoon drive time show than a live one from 11-3 the worst hours of the day.

The way I read it is MTT would still be on 100 and the other shows on 101 . I will be listening to MTT during bubba .

Thanks for the update Mutt, although the news is extremely disappointing.

Guess I'll be turning my radio off on Fridays.

Jay does a three-hour show on Sirius Stars; I guess he would do 6-9, then two hours of other programming until Bubba is able to sign on.

It works for Bubba; he gets his ass out the door early on Friday.

That would never happen. Howard will never carry a censored FM show on his channels. And it wouldn't make sense to only have the FM show on Sirius one day a week. I don't know where people are getting the idea of a simulcast from.

Sirius has loads of simulcasted terrestrial radio on thier channels. All of the live sports, Nascar and most of the talk channels are from AM/FM radio. Do you really think Howard cares enough to give a shit where the material comes from as long as it doesnt cut into his "budget"?

I know, I listen to Mike Malloy and other syndicated shows on Sirius Left. I think syndicating Bubba's FM show on another channel would've been a great idea. But if Mel had it his way, there wouldn't be any sharing of content. They took Stephanie Miller off of 146 even if she was very popular and replaced her with the very boring Mark Thompson.

I'm all for putting on good terrestrial programming on Sirius and I think XM had the right idea when they have put on hosts on their "Extreme XM" channel like they did with Bubba in the past. But I think Howard's pride will not allow him to put a terrestrial show on his channels. And Sirius probably resents the fact Bubba has a morning show so I see that as another thing that gets in the way of a simulcast.

Is Mark Thompson the guy who sits around all day and laments how hard it is to be black in America? It might be the worst show on Sirius that doesnt involve Interns or Shuli. There was a pretty big revolt from the fans when they pulled Stephanie Miller and shes still on most days.

That's him. Only one hour of Stephanie Miller is on though. I wish they could carry her show live instead of Alex Bennett. I may get the Stephcast but I hardly have time to listen to anything else between the two Bubba shows and Howard.

What doesn't make sense is Jay Thomas is on the west coast so he's going to have to get up at 3:00 or 4:00 AM?!?! Maybe it's 7:00 AM PDT, 10:00 AM EDT and Bubba simulcast?

And what about Miserable Men? I guess they get the shaft, unless they get 4 hours on Sundays...damn merger needs to happen now...
