The Vikings have apparently offered the Chiefs a first and a third round pick in this years draft or a first this year and a second next year. A push rushing defensive end is the number one priority for Minnesota and there isn't a better one in the draft, that's for sure. The Vikings are willing to pay what it takes to lock him up and they have plenty of cap room. It would be an absolute steal for the Vikes. He's in Minnesota tonight and they'll be sure to make him an offer to entice him to stay and not visit Tampa as scheduled later this weekend. By Saturday night he could be in purple.

Vikings get Jared Allen. Great move for the Vikes which has to make them the favorite in the NFC North. Getting Allen makes that front four with the Williams boys pretty formidable. The Vikes top priority heading into this weekends NFL draft was a pass rushing defensive end and now they have a better one than they would've gotten Saturday.

Jared Allen's six-year contract is worth $73.26 million and includes $38.4 million in the first three years.

The originally reported $31 million guaranteed is correct. Allen is a truly dominant player and should be even moreso next to the Williamses in Minnesota, but this is still a massive risk because of his off-field history. The deal will likely only be a success if he stays out of trouble.

The only reason we can be a favorite now is because Favre is gone. If Favre were still with the Packers I'd have to put them ahead of the Vikes regardless of us now having Allen.

We still need a good QB and an elite receiver before we can go anywhere in the playoffs.

Packers are probably still very good. If the Bears can rebound, that will be a good division.

I know he looks like shit but he's so raw. Who knows what'll happen with a little more time. Berrian not an elite reciever but definitley an upgrade. I like Sidney Rice a little bit, too. I think they're better, we'll see how much.

I like Rice too but I just don't see him stepping up and being an elite receiver. Jackson is a decent mobile QB but he just doesn't have the tools to be a good complete QB IMO and at this point we need a complete QB more so than another scramble first QB. Peterson is a beast of a RB but if we continue putting up an anemic passing attack teams will figure out how to shut him down and then we'll be screwed.
