View Full Version : Details : Artie's Back
ARTIE IS OFFICIALLY BACK ON THE SHOW!
http://www.sternfannetwork.com/media/artiewelcomeback.jpg
I'm figured I might as well get some details together about this. Please help me fill in the blanks. the main thing you need to know is Artie is back and feels the support of friends & fans.
Info from today’s Stern Show
Artie was came to work clean shaven.
Howard said he honestly didn’t think artie would be back.
Artie takes full responsibility and apologizes to Howard, Teddie, Sirius, & the fans.
Artie explains that even though he has some money issues with Teddy, he is not stealing from him. He's an honest good kid. he said please don't quit your job.
Howard apologizes for pulling the replay and explains he was worried about Artie. He didn't know if he was suicidal and was concerned that it might either send Artie into a rage or into deep depression. Artie says, thank you and admits he was on the edge.
Artie said for the first time he realized he really is part of a family. He received many calls from every level of the show & Sirius with genuine concern. Robin was surprised it took him this long to see this.
Artie OK's replaying the audio & the Howard TV footage. The Howard TV website says the footage will be on tonight at midnight and the 4-10-08 show will air on Sirius this weekend.
Howard & Robins said how they don't believe there will be any more chances. Artie confirmed this.
Artie had a series of meetings with Sirius higher ups. Both Howard & Robin said they spoke to the higherups as well and they weren't happy.
Artie thanks Howard for letting be a part of the show.
Howard said his fans are such a bunch of fuckheads. This was directed at all of the complaining about pulling the replay & accusations that it was all a bit.
Artie said he made an appointment with the shrink.
Artie is going to find a professional assistant & Teddy can carry on as the road guy. They will continue to work together, it will just be different.
From most anticipated to most anticlimactic first segment. Within the first hour they were already playing clips, talking about the Pope, Robin's dress, & Riley's contract, and had a guest in right after the first break. Fans seem disappointed expecting more details of what all happened but back up, did I mention Artie is back on the show? it's a good day.
If you were disappointed that they didn't go into it more, a woman called in and gave Howard a hard time for wrapping up the Artie discussion so quickly. it got them back on it.
Gary says he's mad at Artie for not seeing how good his life is with the show, the gigs, and his family.
Fred says Artie really needs to seek some help. Artie says he's absolutely right and admitted that he's been running away from therapy his whole life.
Teddy said that for the good of the show he wants to leave. Howard & Artie told him no way. He didn't do anything wrong and should stay.
Info from today’s Wrap Up Show
Artie left the voicemails to Howard before getting on the plane for Amsterdam
he got home Monday night. he hadn't listened to his messages yet and still wasn't sure if things were OK with Howard. Everyone's messages were so nice and made him feel better. at the saem time it made him feel like "what am i doing?"
Jimmy Kimmel left him a message and was so incredibly nice. invited him out to LA for 2 weeks. Spade called and also gave his support. Benjy's messages were touching. Greg Fitzimmons & Sal were great. Norm called
Artie's lawyer & manager called Tuesday they recommended he take a break from the show to get himself together & drop weight.
4 hours later Howard called. they talked for 2 hours. Artie apologized. Howard gave support and said he wanted him back more than anything. Howard explained that he'd have to talk to some sirius people like Mel, Scott, & Tim about he legal aspects over some of the things he said on air. Artie was beside himself to hear Howard say things like how much fun it is to do comedy with him. Artie felt like an in owe fan again.
then his only concern was to get back on the show again
he called Don & he was fantastic. he made him feel it would all be OK. Don said he'd talk to Mel & evidently Mel couldn't have been cooler.
He wasn't able to get a hold of Gary but he wanted to.
Thursday night he did a gig at his high school for a fire fighter. it really made him feel wonderful. the wife of the man called to tell Artie that they raised enough money to put he son thru college.
Friday & Saturday night a Levy's, the fans were so wonderful with the standing ovations that he almost lost it. Fri was a benefit for a cop & sat was the beetle benefit.
He was very worried that Teddy hated him. He & Teddy have become very close. Closer than anyone else he's worked with on the road. He felt bad for being a shithead boss. Thought he was letting a fan down.
Gary explained how that when Artie went crazy, Ronnie swept in pull off Teddy's headphones and pulled him out of the room.
Gary explained how Artie called Gary half way thru the wraup show Thursday to say he was done & he can't work there any more. Gary really thought it was over. The when Artie said the same thing to the guys on Sunday out in Amsterdam, Gary felt it was a done deal.
Unknown 04-21-2008, 04:33 AM artie admits that the replay might have brought him over the edge and thanks howard for pulling it....
after hearing that...i guess it was a good move on howard's part
The Universe 04-21-2008, 04:35 AM Artie said he did have to have a series of meetings with people at Sirius, and Howard and Robin agree from the way they were talking that the higher ups were not too happy, and there might not be another chance for him should something like this happen again.
Fa-Fa-Fo-Ha 04-21-2008, 04:36 AM Artie met with people at Sirius and acknowledges there won't be another chance.
Fa-Fa-Fo-Ha 04-21-2008, 04:37 AM Great minds thinkg alike Universe :D
Artie approves airing the episode on howard TV
Jerry Remy 04-21-2008, 04:37 AM So this was basically strike 2, and next time it is gonzo.
Fair enough.
wow, I almost used exacerbate on thursday. funny to hear howard use it now. he must have watched that movie too
Bhickman 04-21-2008, 04:38 AM Mutt forgot that Howard called us fans "Fuckheads".
Fa-Fa-Fo-Ha 04-21-2008, 04:39 AM Mutt forgot that Howard called us fans "Fuckheads".
And why was he afraid to say SFN? He said " every.....Fan Network.."
metswin3122 04-21-2008, 04:39 AM I guess Artie will have to kill somebody to get kicked off the show. I actually love Artie, but his time on the show has run its course.
Steakfor2for1 04-21-2008, 04:40 AM Artie went to Amsterdam and had a sexual liason with Ms. Butterworth.
Georgie Jessel 04-21-2008, 04:41 AM Mutt forgot that Howard called us fans "Fuckheads".
I missed the "fuckheads" part. Why are we fuckheads, exactly?
Fa-Fa-Fo-Ha 04-21-2008, 04:41 AM I guess Artie will have to kill somebody to get kicked off the show. I actually love Artie, but his time on the show has run its course.
Had to be a Mets fan
But we already know who you are...

Fa-Fa-Fo-Ha 04-21-2008, 04:43 AM I missed the "fuckheads" part. Why are we fuckheads, exactly?
Howard feels if it hadn't pulled the show, we would have criticized him for it. Damn if you do, damned if you don't.
Ridley 04-21-2008, 04:43 AM fuck fat fucking artie.
Fa-Fa-Fo-Ha 04-21-2008, 04:43 AM He is going to see a shrink...
Steakfor2for1 04-21-2008, 04:43 AM I missed the "fuckheads" part. Why are we fuckheads, exactly? Cause its our fault that Howard doesn't explain his actions. Basically Stern said that we'd be pissed if he got rid of it or kept it cause then Artie could have heard it and may have blown his brains out. Mind you that this is the same man who wanted to blow up the moon so that's not take his comments too SERIOUSLY.
Winst 04-21-2008, 04:43 AM Artie met with people at Sirius and acknowledges there won't be another chance.
Wanna bet on that?
Although who wouldn't want a big blow up fight to help excuse Artie on his
way out...if he's leaving anyway.
The dramarama would be good..and it would serve the purposes.
The stage has now been set.....bring on the thing. :D
"....it's clobbering time!"

Ridley 04-21-2008, 04:44 AM He is going to see a shrink...
sure he his
anyone make a graphic yet? I'm putting something up on the homepage and there should be some sort of yeah, Artie's back graphic. :)

What has Mutt told you about posting in his threads?
I kid, I kid... I'm a fan of your posts :D
Winst 04-21-2008, 04:46 AM He is going to see a shrink...
Artie needs love.
Artie needs to embrace the Lord's love.
....feel the love...share the love. :btu:
Dirty South 04-21-2008, 04:47 AM
Stern is the one acting like a fuckhead, not his fans.

I wasn't aware that this was a "Mutt thread"....my bad.

Stern is the one acting like a fuckhead, not his fans.
He leads....many follow.
It is often a vicious cycle/circle. :D
The Universe 04-21-2008, 04:49 AM Artie says Teddy is in no way stealing money from him. Thursday was just a metaphor.
Fa-Fa-Fo-Ha 04-21-2008, 04:50 AM Artie will still have Teddy work for him under a different position.
Dirty South 04-21-2008, 04:51 AM Artie's entire life is a metaphor for constantly fucking up and never getting called on your bullshit.
dharmabum 04-21-2008, 04:58 AM chaunce is a lying sack of shit
dharmabum 04-21-2008, 04:59 AM HTV says replay will be on tonight at midnight or tues night
dharmabum 04-21-2008, 05:00 AM audio replay of the show will air this coming weekend
JeffJ 04-21-2008, 05:02 AM Artie hasn't ruled out taking a little time off at some point to address his health problems. His doctor is very concerned about him.
Right, and coincidentally the supposed Dr he went to told him the same exact thing the last one did: That he should go to a healthy rehab, whatever that's supposed to mean.
No mention of his drug abuse, except his claim that he wasn't gonna do heroin in Amsterdam. And right, he'll be going to see a shrink regularly.
And no, he wouldn't have hit Teddy if he got to him that day.
He just fuckin lies and lies and lies and they let him get away with anything.
jantonice 04-21-2008, 05:07 AM Even the make-up was bullshit. Nothing is going to happen as a result of this!
Ridley 04-21-2008, 05:16 AM here's the artie's back graphic :shit:
Xenon2006 04-21-2008, 05:20 AM Just a matter of time till he blows his stack a third time.
Doctor Ivan 04-21-2008, 05:23 AM anyone make a graphic yet? I'm putting something up on the homepage and there should be some sort of yeah, Artie's back graphic. :)

ENormousJohnson 04-21-2008, 05:24 AM I am still convinced it was a BIT. And if it was, you don't think they are going to admit to it do you? Not a chance.
Hardin Thicke 04-21-2008, 05:24 AM http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c127/doctorivan/artiewelcomeback.jpg
JeffJ 04-21-2008, 05:26 AM Just a matter of time till he blows his stack a third time.
It's inevitable.
EXREL36 04-21-2008, 05:29 AM Artie is hanging on by a thread....The show is marching on!
dark1313star 04-21-2008, 05:31 AM I missed the "fuckheads" part. Why are we fuckheads, exactly?
he didn't call all of us fuckheads... just the retards
you know, the ones who flipped their shit about the replay being pulled and who said it was a bit
mortiis469 04-21-2008, 05:36 AM Throw a water bottle at Richard today and just be done with it!!!!!!!!!
Nothing like hearing Robin yell "What the F is goin on here?!?!?!?" "Jesus Christ!!!!!!!!!"
jlynn411 04-21-2008, 05:49 AM I didn't mind that they pulled the replay. Clearly Howard isn't going to sacrifice a great bit like that if it was real, and if it was a bit, even more reason why he'd want to show it eventually. Pulling it added to the drama and protected Artie.
But wow, why don't you say "there are some fuckheads in our audience," not "our audience = fuckheads." Fuckheads got you a model girlfriend and made you rich beyond your wildest dreams, so.
LiveOakBlues 04-21-2008, 05:53 AM He's on Bobby Knight Meltdown Watch from here on out.
Gatorbater 04-21-2008, 05:56 AM I am still convinced it was a BIT. And if it was, you don't think they are going to admit to it do you? Not a chance. Prove it was a bit.
jdj5454 04-21-2008, 06:15 AM How lucky is Artie. I need a job where I can fuck off that much and not get canned. He should lower his Morristown gig prices to make it up to us! He's getting a little too big for his own ginormous britches anyway.
jlynn411 04-21-2008, 06:24 AM Throw a water bottle at Richard today and just be done with it!!!!!!!!!
Nothing like hearing Robin yell "What the F is goin on here?!?!?!?" "Jesus Christ!!!!!!!!!"
hahah. He should mix it up - instead of physical assault, a little sexual harassment. Say some creepy things to Lisa G. She wants him, it's obvious.
wildev928 04-21-2008, 06:25 AM Welcome back Artie; and congratulations on magically dropping a hundred pounds!

SHUA1973 04-21-2008, 06:29 AM i haven't heard the first hour of the show yet, but based on what you have recapped here Mutt sounds like everything i wanted to know was covered.
thanks
not sure what all the other bitching threads are all about.
sexyshell69 04-21-2008, 06:31 AM thanks for the update mutt! i'm glad artie's back. let's hope he doesn't fuck up again. :D
Scotny7 04-21-2008, 06:35 AM I'm Glad Artie is back, but in all the years listening, I don't remember Howard ever editing content. Even if Artie was on the edge (WAHHHHHHH) It should NOT have been pulled, It felt like Tom Chiasano was just sitting on the button. The underlying problem is really that Tim is trying to edit in many different ways. Telling people what NOT to talk about drugs, shock the puss etc. Tim Sabian is becoming Tom Chiasano and Howard better get control of it before it ruins the show.
VOTE for Benjy Benjy

oldmanpops 04-21-2008, 06:48 AM ...and all is right the world...:D
winesnaab 04-21-2008, 06:48 AM Here we go again, disappointing start of the show and just business as usual. Does Howard not realize we are waiting for explanations and more in-depth discussions about what occured. Neil Pat Harris interview was un-listenable and I showered went on with my day.
jimmyritt33 04-21-2008, 06:56 AM Howard doesn't realize how much the diehards live and die with the show. It's almost to the point of being insulting. He also fails to realize that now that the show is replayed all day and night some of us are in the situation that we listen to one of those replays.
So this was basically strike 2, and next time it is gonzo.
Fair enough.
how many strikes does he get?
A caller got them back on the topic. She told Howard he didn't spend enough time discussing the event and after Howard & Artie acted like she was a crazy person, they got back into it.
Gary says he's mad at Artie for not seeing how good his life is with the show, the gigs, and his family.
Artie says this is not Howard's fault
Doctor Ivan 04-21-2008, 07:06 AM thanks for the help guys
http://www.doctorivan.com/sfn/hisign.gif
babybear 04-21-2008, 07:08 AM did Artie meet with the Pope?
Fred says Artie really needs to seek some help.
JeffJ 04-21-2008, 07:13 AM Fred says Artie really needs to seek some help.
At which point Artie would have said that he IS seeking help from a shrink, if he actually was doing so like he earlier claimed this morning.
John Daniels819 04-21-2008, 07:19 AM Fred's right.....hell....anyone not enabling Artie is right.
I really feel badly for the guy. He knows he's got the gig of a lifetime.....he's making more money than he can spend....yet it sounds like (at least from the first 3 hours) it's business as usual.
In the long run, that can't be good for his mental, or physical health. I really hope this was the "wake up call", but I'm a pesimist.....I don't see it.
Howard is considering deleting all of artie's voice mail messages. after pulling the show last week, give us this. play the messages!!!
hbtonyb 04-21-2008, 07:21 AM I want to know what happened with the meetings between Artie and Sirius.
Ralph's heard the voicemails but Howard is insisting that Artie listen to them before Howard plays them.
RealGeneSimmons 04-21-2008, 07:26 AM That's AWESOME! It's exactly like when Hulk Hogan became friends with Randy Macho Man Savage.
"Artie had a series of meetings with Sirius higher ups"? Hasn't he been oversees all week? When could he have time to go to "a SERIES of meetings"?
heythere2020 04-21-2008, 07:26 AM Fuck you Artie.. a lot of us despise you
mandlebaum 04-21-2008, 07:28 AM I don't know how a replay that artie wasn't going to listen to could somehow put him over the edge. He didn't pull the West Coast Feed, and that was probably the one he could have heard. He had a plane to catch.
JeffJ 04-21-2008, 07:28 AM Howard just said Artie called him 10 minutes after the fight (Artie jokingly said it was like two hours) and said he had already consulted with Doctors.
Howard made a joke out of it but is anyone there ever gonna call him out for being the chronic liar he is?
One of Artie's meetings was with Don Buckwalkd. He was very soothing and just let Artie know that everything was going to be fine
siriusstud 04-21-2008, 07:33 AM I'm glad he didn't really leave the show but I hope that was his wake up call. I don't think it was I think he will still continue to eat and fall asleep on the show.
bruce9432 04-21-2008, 07:35 AM Too bad, the show was on the cusp of a rebith and we end up with a stillborn. The show is stale.
RealGeneSimmons 04-21-2008, 07:36 AM Fuck, just looking at this thread and the others, it appears that so many things just don't add up.
I mean, they had a whole fucking week to write this. :D
irish_na 04-21-2008, 07:39 AM So did Artie do Heroin??? lol
Howard just said Artie called him 10 minutes after the fight (Artie jokingly said it was like two hours) and said he had already consulted with Doctors.
Howard made a joke out of it but is anyone there ever gonna call him out for being the chronic liar he is?
doctors and layers
and my take on it was that it wasn't really 10 minutes. I felt Howard & Ralph were more making light of it and exaggerated about the time. i mean, he was listening to them and home with ralph. howard wasn't home until the afternoon. by the time he finished the show, he had meetings concerning what had happened.
That's AWESOME! It's exactly like when Hulk Hogan became friends with Randy Macho Man Savage.
"Artie had a series of meetings with Sirius higher ups"? Hasn't he been oversees all week? When could he have time to go to "a SERIES of meetings"?
he was home monday or tuesday. he was away for a long weekend. not a week.
emtfromny2 04-21-2008, 07:47 AM I just want to know, why on every show is SFN made to be the scapegoats?? Sure there are some hating fuckheads, but you get a group of a couple thousand people, that can anonymously speak it makes it highly likely that there will be a small percentage of assholes. So as far as Bubba, the entire MM Show, and Howard now apparently generalizing the entire site as a bunch of hating assholes is bullshit.

chaney 04-21-2008, 07:50 AM I'm just very happy to hear Artie's voice on the show today. I think that every Artie fan was very anxious to hear the show today.
uhohhotdog 04-21-2008, 07:52 AM I just got up...and could not be happier to hear the big guy on the show.

So....what you're saying is....if I see you at Artie's show at The Lyric in June, I shouldn't start the conversation by saying "Hey Fuckhead....how's it going"?
Love you man! :D

You're right, that's a good point about Howard listening at home so it couldn't have been 10 minutes... but there's no way I believe Artie consulted with any shrinks or physicians (besides Dr Feelgood) within a few hours of leaving the building. Or at any point.
Guitarzilla 04-21-2008, 08:04 AM can we change the name of the site too?
Fuckhead fan network has a nice ring to it.
The thing about insulting your fanbase is that sooner or later they'll turn on you.

robin is right about artie ..he loves misery
bhong82 04-21-2008, 08:13 AM Bloomies.
glad the fat man is back.
ashymonster 04-21-2008, 08:17 AM Im not sure why were fuckheads though? Was it because we were concerned about Artie too? It must be for supporting his Manhattan lifestyle 13 bucks at a time.
Cokekid58 04-21-2008, 08:18 AM Mutt you could of written this the Friday after the fight happened.
If anyone is surpised by the outcome of the Artie fight then Howard is correct, you are a fuckhead.
JeffJ 04-21-2008, 08:20 AM Im not sure why were fuckheads though? Was it because we were concerned about Artie too? It must be for supporting his Manhattan lifestyle 13 bucks at a time.
No, I think it was the idiots who blamed Howard for Arties psycho episode that pissed him off when it wasn't at all his fault.
jaredsiden8 04-21-2008, 08:21 AM im just so releived artie's back. show wouldnt be the same without him.

cljw31 04-21-2008, 08:57 AM welcome back artie !! :D
Double Rods 04-21-2008, 08:59 AM I am a new listener of Stern (6 months in) because we never had him here on terrestrial radio. I don't get Artie's humor at all. Maybe it's because I'm from Texas. I wouldn't be disappointed if he were gone from the show. No big loss in my eyes.

You don't get it because you must have an education that extends beyond third grade. Be proud you don't get Artie's crap humor.
If you want to understand Artie's "humor" just remember these simple rules.
1) Gay = punchline
2) Fag = punchline
3) Faggot = bigger punchline
4) Cunt = punchline
5) Fuck = punchline
6) Long boring stories about paying for sex = "hilarious" story about getting laid
7) The Mets = see #1
If you understand these rules Artie MIGHT start to be funny to you.

Honestly, I'm not uptight, I just think Artie has ruined the show and his is the opposite of funny. He's boring.
Ultimately I don't really care that much because I just don't listen much any more. I would rather he was gone so I could enjoy the show again but I really don't mind turning the channel. I can live without the show.
Gary is asking Artie questions on the wrapup show now
Gary is asking Artie questions on the wrapup show now
Artie left the voicemails to howard before getting on the plane for Amsterdam
he got home Monday night. he hadn't listened to his messages yet and still wasn't sure if things were OK with Howard. Everyone's messages were so nice and made him feel better. at the saem time it made him feel like "what am i doing?"
Jimmy Kimmel left him a message and was so incredibly nice. invited him out to LA for 2 weeks.
Spade called and also gave his support
Benjy's messages were touching.
Greg Fitzimmons & Sal were great
He was very worried that Teddy hated him.
John Robert 04-21-2008, 09:27 AM Mutt you could of written this the Friday after the fight happened.
If anyone is surpised by the outcome of the Artie fight then Howard is correct, you are a fuckhead.
:sofa:
pemulis 04-21-2008, 09:36 AM The time/energy/effort required to replace Artie and/or the airtime his stories take up is way more than Howard has left in him at this point. Even Tim gets away with doing practically nothing (eg: ridiculous amount of time to find a replacement for Bubba on Friday mornings...) It was silly to think this was going to turn out any other way.
Howard doesn't realize how much the diehards live and die with the show. It's almost to the point of being insulting. He also fails to realize that now that the show is replayed all day and night some of us are in the situation that we listen to one of those replays.
This is pretty much what I have been thinking. Significant contamination in the Stern-fan relationship IMHO. Artie oozes back into his slot.
The MTT shows remind me of how great the show once was.
Double Rods 04-21-2008, 09:38 AM Maybe I need to listen to the show more to get Artie's humor. It's been 6 months and I still don't quite understand his contribution to the show.
AMJohnny 04-21-2008, 09:41 AM He's moved now by the outpouring of appreciation, but needs to do that shrink shit and take it day by day. If he doesn't pursue counseling, I'd think that was fucked up.
Gary explained how Artie called Gary half way thru the wraup show Thursday to say he was done & he can't work there any more. Gary really thought it was over. The when Artie said the same thing to the guys on Sunday out in Amsterdam, Gary felt it was a done deal.
siriusstud 04-21-2008, 10:04 AM "Artie's layer & manager called Tuesday they recommended he take a break from the show to get himself together & drop weight"
This should have happend but wtf is a layer. Lawyer, I'm assuming.
Georgie Jessel 04-21-2008, 10:04 AM Gary explained how Artie called Gary half way thru the wraup show Thursday to say he was done & he can't work there any more. Gary really thought it was over. The when Artie said the same thing to the guys on Sunday out in Amsterdam, Gary felt it was a done deal.
Thanks Mutt for the details - I'm at work and can't listen to the WUS. Tuesday was the real turning point: Artie's own manager says "you need to take a break" then Howard calls and says he wants him back on the show, bad. And Artie gets all grateful and wants to please Howard, his hero. Not sure which guy had Artie's best interests at heart that day.
Despite Howard's own embrace of psychoanalysis and other self-help regimes (TM, Dr. Sarno, etc.), the guy seems to think Artie can get happier and healthier while he continues in the job, just as before. We are to think that Artie has been humbled and shaken up enough to really get his act together, this time. I guess we'll see!

I'm sure you'd feel different if they would have had a good 2 hours of the Artie fight and what went down but they didn't, I am sad to hear that because I hoped they would have spent more time on it but some reasons I think the welcome back show was a bust.
1. For legal reasons they really can't talk about it, if that's the truth I wish they would say that and say "Hey we can gloss over it but can't go into details because blah blah" or something so listeners don't feel gipped.
2. The week the show was off killed it. If this had happened Wednesday and everyone had come back Thursday I think we would have had the show we wanted, but tempers were cooled down, people talked on the phone, Artie got fucked in Amsterdam and all is well. No one was hyped up to talk about it after that.
SybianSphincter 04-21-2008, 10:18 AM glad hes back
sirusthevirus 04-21-2008, 10:18 AM hey cut me some slack. I'm not a court reporter. besides WTF is happend?
HAAAA. Good one Mutt.
But in all seriousness you really should have someone proofread your posts.
They are just brutal to read sometimes.

howard is doing artie wrong. he is so selfish he wont allow artie to take a month to go to rehab and get well.
stonecoldstern 04-21-2008, 10:37 AM After 18 years of listening, why am I suddenly feeling no interest the show anymore? :hn:
Agree. I am losing more and more interest every day.
studhub 04-21-2008, 10:39 AM seems like he was only gone for not even 3 hours. :D
queenofallmedia 04-21-2008, 10:39 AM Excellent points.
Thanks. :D It also seems that Howard NOT airing the segment that night calmed Artie down as well, like it showed him that Howard gave a shit about him.
Artie looks up to Howard in a big way, he needed to talk to Howard and realize that he's a part of the show, he seems to have had a breakthrough and I'm glad about that.

sterniac86 04-21-2008, 10:41 AM So Artie is back, but who's this guy??
http://www.sternfannetwork.com/media/artiewelcomeback.jpg
though Howard & Ralph joked that artie called 10 minutes after the fight, earlier itn he show he explained how he didn't get the messages until later itn eh day after he took a nap.
ricky 04-21-2008, 10:49 AM IMO, don't play anything regarding the fight. Just move forward, and get Artie some help.
What's the point of replaying someone's fucking nervous breakdown?
Oh yeah, it's a bit.........
mustardman 04-21-2008, 10:50 AM Agree. I am losing more and more interest every day.
Having Howard call us all "a bunch of fuckheads" for the second time now doesn't help.
That includes all you Artie babysitters too btw.

stupid cunt.
JeffJ 04-21-2008, 11:16 AM howard is doing artie wrong. he is so selfish he wont allow artie to take a month to go to rehab and get well.
 Rehab for what??? The drugs that he claims he no longer does?
Or would it be that health rehab (whatever the fuck that lie was supposed to mean) that the supposed Dr said he should go to?
And don't blame fuckin Howard: If Lardie wants to go to rehab he can simply tell them he's going and they'll let him.
He doesn't want to stop his drugs or his shit eating or drinking or smoking.
After his whole bullshit speech about the supposed Dr telling him he's close to a heart attack, etc, etc, what does he do? Comes back to work and orders the same shit breakfast as usual.
JeffJ 04-21-2008, 11:21 AM So Artie is back, but who's this guy??
http://www.sternfannetwork.com/media/artiewelcomeback.jpg
This would have been a more accurate representation of his current vileness.

godfromjersey 04-21-2008, 11:22 AM Howard,
I am not a fuck-head. I'm a fan who loves the show and its lack of censorship. I stand behind you most of the time, but sometimes I don't.
It may indeed have been a good idea to pull the show. It was NOT a good idea to pull the show and not tell anyone WHY or what's going on. OUr reaction was reasonable.
Howard is a fuckhead for calling his fans fuckheads.
But I'm glad Artie's back.

deltyso 04-21-2008, 11:59 AM "Welcome back Artie?"
He left? He was on vacation.
antnyp 04-21-2008, 12:42 PM No matter what Howard or anyone else said, I'm just glad the big bambino is back and maybe he will finally get some help and get healthy.

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out why the show was put on hold for a week so everyone could calm down and Howard could look at the tape. It wasn't like the board was completely out of the loop since people on other shows were talking about it and we talked about it here.
The reaction was over the top, come on dude you can't think that one million threads of "Fuck Howard I'm done with this show" or some variation wasn't a bit much. I know people were upset and that's fine but dude we didn't get to watch the show for a week, A WEEK. It's not that serious.
Howard could have said "Fuck all of you" and not aired it at all, hell I would have been spiteful like that. :D
LessMoonbeams 04-21-2008, 01:21 PM he went to one of his
mysterious 'doctors' who told
him he could have a heart attack ...
c'mon Artie your driver coulda said that ...
.........he didn't call or go to any medical
professional
sir1us 04-21-2008, 01:22 PM cant really blame Howard for calling the fans fuckheads even though he's unfairly lumped everyone together, theres some of us that love the show and everything about it, and others who can't be happy with anything, the "fuckheads" if you will. the real fuckheads are the ones who want everything on the show their way because they "pay" without considering the consequences of what coulda happened if the show was played, Artie's mental health is problematic and a replay could have sent him over the edge, thats FROM ARTIE HIMSELF, stupid fuckheads.

Exactly and it seems to me that Howard NOT airing the show is one of the reasons why Artie finally feels like a part of the show, that Howard cared enough not to give the fans what they wanted despite the flack and actually care about a member of his staff, hell I'd be touched too if he did that for me.
SternFanTwo 04-21-2008, 01:40 PM Last thing I'm saying about this subject. I'm glad Artie is back. If he had left, OK, but we can get back on track.
(OK, now I'm off to the adult forums to avoid talking about what I just said I will not talk about again.)
Darth Lange 04-21-2008, 01:59 PM And one by one the Lemmings go off the cliff. :D
mrsluda85 04-21-2008, 02:16 PM They should change the name of the show to "The Artie Lange Show", because he is obviously the one in control.

Thank you Dad. I love you man.
rackrunner 04-21-2008, 03:59 PM Let me get all this straight. Artie escalates this into a physical thing, then gets exactly zero punishment for it? Most people blame Teddy, which is retarded since he never lost his composure and kept mindful that it's still a workplace. Artie should have to at the very least get some type of suspension or be required to go to an anger management class or something.
moneymaker 04-21-2008, 04:04 PM Thanks for the post Mutt!!
It is ground breaking compelling radio at it's best!!!!

BigJon1023 04-21-2008, 04:41 PM THE KING OF COMEDY HAS RETURNED.
oilburner 04-21-2008, 04:43 PM did anyone else notice this during the week off last week?
1. Robin's comment at the end of the Stuttering John special, saying that they didn't know it was going to happen, but when John left there was a "weight lifted" and the morale got better in the studio. I can't help but wonder if the same would happen if Artie did leave. They don't realize the emotional baggage they all carry around with Artie's troubles. Howard is trying hard to make Artie's sad life a bit for the show (snoring, absences), but in reality it brings them down.
2. some of the Mammary Lane bits were back in the days with Billy West, and during that era you could tell more show "energy" - seemingly innocuous news items would result in 20 minute impressions/riffs that would have Howard barely able to catch his breath. That doesn't happen very often anymore.
I like the crew that is there, don't get me wrong. But you can tell a distinct difference in the energy level from players in the past to Artie, Richard, Sal, Benjy (in the studio). Just like in some personal relationships, maybe you think things are great, but once you step back from them, you realize that something was missing. Artie is trying to tell Howard something. His relationship with the show is one of those dysfunctional breakup/back together, breakup/back together relationships that only ends badly.
Today was the "what was I thinking, this will never happen again" show. Wait 60 days, max and Artie will be in a sugar coma again.
Someone_Els3 04-21-2008, 04:49 PM glad he is back but he really needs help. i think he might be back on drugs again. normal people dont act that way
mrkyll 04-21-2008, 06:03 PM I'm an Artie Lange fan, and this was a predictable ending for this lastest Artie escapade.
Betcha Robin Quivers will be the first to say "I told you so" when Artie explodes again...
peekozi 04-22-2008, 03:37 PM It's inevitable.
