I guess a Tropical Storm/Hurricane is no reason to take off? when they cut all of the power to the area, how are they supposed to broadcast? Bubba worked his ass off the last 2 years and where did it get him with Sirius? I got no problem with him working the Hamptons Howie schedule.

For a manly show, this is kind of a pussy move. I hate to say it, but c'mon.. this is not even a hurricane, it's a tropical storm.. 60 mph winds and some rain. Tampa is not even getting the worst of it either. I doubt the storm surge is going to be big enough to flood their studio.

man how sad "the Darkside" has gotten, from not even being able to put up a successful "Daily Listening Thread" to this. I thought for a while that we'd give the BTLS Forum a good fight. But I think it's time to leave the SFN, as far as Bubba goes, and join 'em. I am over the haters infiltrating this section of SFN.

stop being a douche. brent explained that they are home taking care of things there. they all live on the water and are preparing for water damage. if you've ever lived in a beach town that was expecting a himacane, you'd understand. you want to put away the patio furnitue, tie shit down, maybe cover up windows etc. plus there's the normal going shopping for food bullshit. you usually chip in and help neighbors and shit too. bubba may be all generatored up but some the interns and low level guys may really need to get ready. hopefully it never rains and all the prep was for nothing but you still need to prepare for the worst.

He has the new Howard/Sirius work schedule. Four days a week! Gee I'm so glad they took two days off for their stage show last week, and were on vacation about 2 weeks ago.

I'm just fuckin around here, but it still sucks. I know there is nothing they can do about the weather.

Same here....
I went to work today too.
I don't have much sympathy for waterfront homeowners either.
Back in 04' when we got 3 hurricanes in a row, all the owners with underinsured, damaged beachfront homes got bailed out by the government and then they hit the rest of us poor land locked slobs with higher insurance rates to help pay for all the waterfront homes that were damaged.
If you can afford to live on the water, you should be ready to pay when a hurricane hits.
That's fucking Bullshit!

Mutt I appreciate your explanation and Brent's, but Bubba was on the air Monday boasting that the only way they would NOT be on today is if they were in an evacuation zone and that would prevent them from being in their building.

So Bubba's big ass mouth put himself in a position to be criticized, especially since he did his morning show.

Maybe there was a serious family emergency? I hope not. Hope they just took a day off to be safe with that possible hurricane. Don't Ned and Manson have long drives in for work? Maybe they figured the roads would be all screwed up so they all took the day off?

ya know what, maybe he was only thinking about how well they setup the studio and until a storm actually hit, never realized all the outside of the studio shit they'd still have to deal with. I don't know. If I had to guess I'd say he probably thought he was all ready and the studio was all ready but as the day went on people got more and more antsy thinking about things they should be doing at home. could be as simple as he wanted his employees to be able to take care fo their shit.

who knows

what I do know is it's dumb to bitch about it

I don't really have a problem with them taking a day off because of a potential natural disaster. However, what makes it so shitty is that they have been taking several days off the last couple of weeks. Two days off so they can make some extra cash doin bubbapalooza. C'mon, the listeners are getting jerked there. its one day after another of taking days off that i think bothers people.

And yet Howard took two consecutive weeks off at the beginning of July and works four days a week, yet Bubba does TEN shows a week and tries to put a little extra coin in the bank and people still bitch. Boo fucking hoo.

Hey Howard's schedule gets criticised all the time. I don't want to hear any bullshit about 10 shows a week. Bubba decided to create that schedule for himself, even if the quality of the show people have to pay to listen to goes in the shitter. I don't mind him putting extra "coin in the bank" but not at the expense of paying listeners.

It's like when people say "I'm paying 12.95 a month to listen to Howard, and he takes all this vacation!" People pay 12.95 a month for Sirius, not for just Bubba or Howard. Bubba and Howard are allowed a certain number of days off in their contracts, and Sirius didn't pay Bubba enough to stay exclusive, so if people are unhappy with it they should take it up with the company, not the hosts.

I know people think the quality of the afternoon show has gone downhill, and whether it's true or not, it's all we're going to get, and there's nothing we can do about it. It's still a lot better than the alternative which would've been not having Bubba on Sirius at all.

he gets vacation days. he has to use them. I'd use them in the summer too.

he was late 1 day becasue of court and now a hurricane. both are legit, cut him some slack.

Fuck, even when he comes to work he is just looking for ways to kill time...playing the TV on the radio, hucking cheap shit mudflaps and tshirts or telling us how wonderful Bubbpalooza is!

The show can really be about 1.5 hours if you take it on content alone!!!

oh, and i love how the dude from orlando is like, we're gonna get hit worse and it's not even raining. YOU'RE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STATE! it's a over a hour drive to the closest ocean. the storm moved up the coast. that would be like people in philly comparing themselves to the jersey shore. how much storm surge could you possibly get there? it's about water damage. even if the storm goes inland, they start to slow down after they hit land. it would never be worse in orlando than on the waterfront

we'll see how all you haters like it next year when we have to put up with the Jay Thomas Show instead of Bubba. once again I'll say that Bubba busted his ass Monday thru Friday (and even an occasional Saturday location show) for 2 years. and when Sirius decided to low-ball him with his new contract he decided he needed to make money in other ways (terrestrial radio show, Bubbapalooza, etc.) Bubba deserves every day off he gets. and if he needs to take off because of a potential weather issue, who are we to question him and his staff. hell up here in the Northeast, the weathermen call for an inch of snow and people act like we're in fuckin' Buffalo. what would you rather have Bubba or no more Bubba? I think the true fans know the answer.

Sad to say...but I also agree with what you are saying. I finally turned the channel today, 1st time since they've been at Sirius cause I just can't take the bitching anymore. Yeah Bubba is underpaid and under appreciated. Who the fuck isn't??? I've spent the last 3 months trying to find a different job & with the way the economy & job market is I'm stuck at the same crappy place working for a barely livable wage. But if I went into work every day bitching loud enough so that my bosses could hear I would be FIRED. Sorry Bubba but when you get back to actually doing a show I'll tune back in.
