That 500 million dollar amount is the total budget for the entire undertaking for 5 years. It's 100 million dollars a year but that has to pay for everything....Howard's salary, Robin's salary, Bababooey's salary, Artie's salary, the guy who buys Howard his lunch salary, etc, production costs, equipment, studio costs, everything. It's a lot of money but not as much as it sounds. Remember these people spend over $100 million to make 1 movie and Howard was already making 20 mi a year before.

As far as Jackie goes, why would Howard bring him to Sirius? Lots of people feel that Artie actually fits the bill as a crew member better than Jackie ever did, and besides, Howard seems to have felt betrayed by Jackie leaving the way he did, so I don't know why he would want him back.

SIRI had to file an 8-K report with the Securities and Exchange Commission in which they reported the 100 million a year number. If they purposely misreported that number they could be criminally charged.

i think a lot of people make the misconception that because artie is sitting in the same seat as jackie that he took his place. granted there was a vacancy in the show but their roles have been completely different. jackie was much more involved in the writing of the show where artie speaks a lot more. jackie hardly ever said a word.

That total also has to pay for marketing, which will be a huge expense for Sirius to try and catch up to XM, which already has something like 4 times as many subscribers.

Sirius said it would need to add 1 million subscribers to cover the cost of the five-year deal. The company estimates total production and operating costs for the show to be about $100 million annually.

Is Howard worth the $100 million a year?

Let's see......

Howard supposedly has 12 million listeners. If 10% of his diehard fans follow him to Sirius Radio, thats 1.2 million listeners.

It costs $12.95 a month for a Sirius subscription so,

$12.95/month X 12 months/year X 1,200,000 listeners =

$ 186,480,000 per year that Sirius brings in.

After they pay Howard his 100 million, they still have 86 million left over. I think Sirius is getting a bargain.

So I guess there's no infra-structure cost associated with them increasing their number of subscribers tenfold - not that that will happen.
