On Hold 10-06-2004, 11:23 AM I aint no Jackie fan.. but do you think he would rejoin the show? especially after hearing Howard has a $500 million deal with CIRIUS? copter 10-06-2004, 11:42 AM Funny I was thinking the same thing. Kang 10-06-2004, 11:43 AM he's getting out the magic 8 ball, wait a sec. hjsimpson 10-06-2004, 11:57 AM …also on the Howard Stern Radio Network…Linguistics with Crack-head Bob!!! generic 10-06-2004, 12:03 PM is that correct 500 million from sirius radio? is that like a lifetime contract. oldpaddy 10-06-2004, 12:04 PM $500 mil? That can't be right, where'd that number come from? On Hold 10-06-2004, 12:08 PM Ask Jackie...he has an open invitation. Do you think 15 months is enough negotiating time? On Hold 10-06-2004, 12:11 PM $500 mil? That can't be right, where'd that number come from? NEW YORK (Reuters) - "Shock jock" Howard Stern will jump to Sirius Satellite Radio (Nasdaq:SIRI - news) in January 2006, moving his controversial show from the public airwaves and giving the nascent satellite radio sector a big boost. By luring Stern away from his current employer, Viacom Inc.'s (NYSE:VIAB - news) Infinity Broadcasting, the $500 million, five-year deal announced on Wednesday by Stern and Sirius will propel the new business built on attracting subscribers to dozens of radio stations broadcast digitally............ http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=1896&e=2&u=/nm/media_sirius_dc (http://) Jimbo11 10-06-2004, 12:19 PM That 500 million dollar amount is the total budget for the entire undertaking for 5 years. It's 100 million dollars a year but that has to pay for everything....Howard's salary, Robin's salary, Bababooey's salary, Artie's salary, the guy who buys Howard his lunch salary, etc, production costs, equipment, studio costs, everything. It's a lot of money but not as much as it sounds. Remember these people spend over $100 million to make 1 movie and Howard was already making 20 mi a year before. illflux 10-06-2004, 12:20 PM I'm not sure I understand. Does that mean that Howard will be making $100 mil a year? If so, HOLY FUCK!!!! As far as Jackie goes, why would Howard bring him to Sirius? Lots of people feel that Artie actually fits the bill as a crew member better than Jackie ever did, and besides, Howard seems to have felt betrayed by Jackie leaving the way he did, so I don't know why he would want him back. oldpaddy 10-06-2004, 12:21 PM Howards gonna put SIRI out of business! Jimbo11 10-06-2004, 12:22 PM No the 100 million is the total budget. That has to pay for everything! bababooey2uall 10-06-2004, 12:23 PM This move instantly gives Sirius a lot of credibility. They are seen as #2 to XM, but this could let them become #1 very quickly. Jimbo11 10-06-2004, 12:28 PM Winst, you better hope the SEC believes the public numbers. SIRI had to file an 8-K report with the Securities and Exchange Commission in which they reported the 100 million a year number. If they purposely misreported that number they could be criminally charged. But of course Winst knows better...lol. Y2KOAM 10-06-2004, 12:30 PM I'm not sure I understand. Lots of people feel that Artie actually fits the bill as a crew member better than Jackie ever did, and besides, Howard seems to have felt betrayed by Jackie leaving the way he did, so I don't know why he would want him back. i think a lot of people make the misconception that because artie is sitting in the same seat as jackie that he took his place. granted there was a vacancy in the show but their roles have been completely different. jackie was much more involved in the writing of the show where artie speaks a lot more. jackie hardly ever said a word. On Hold 10-06-2004, 12:34 PM sp jackie can sit next to benjy and share the same closed mic :D Jimbo11 10-06-2004, 12:37 PM SIRI Revenue for 2003 PERIOD ENDING 31-Dec-03 Total Revenue 12,872,000 Cost of Revenue 86,774,000 Gross Profit (73,902,000) SIRI only had total revenue of 12 million in 2003. Now they are going to give Howard alone a 100 million dollar a year budget. They better hope Howie sells some radio subscriptions SIRI is going bankrupt and Howie ain't getting jack. It's amazing what a little research will do, ain't it Winst? junkie29 10-06-2004, 12:38 PM That 500 million dollar amount is the total budget for the entire undertaking for 5 years. It's a lot of money but not as much as it sounds. Remember these people spend over $100 million to make 1 movie and Howard was already making 20 mi a year before. That total also has to pay for marketing, which will be a huge expense for Sirius to try and catch up to XM, which already has something like 4 times as many subscribers. Bud 10-06-2004, 12:40 PM That 500 million dollar amount is the total budget for the entire undertaking for 5 years. On Hold 10-06-2004, 12:42 PM I probably do know better. Numbers change....deals bend and twist....etc etc. Funny that these were almost the same numbers floated in public many many months ago. ..so so strange. :) Winst you're a character... someone ought to write "Winst" the movie... maybe M Knight shamamalaman... :D how can deals bend and twist when there's a signed contract? unless you're CC Jimbo11 10-06-2004, 12:44 PM LOL, the only thing the bends and twists is Winst's line of BS when you prove him wrong. On Hold 10-06-2004, 12:56 PM SIRI Revenue for 2003 PERIOD ENDING 31-Dec-03 Total Revenue 12,872,000 Cost of Revenue 86,774,000 Gross Profit (73,902,000) SIRI only had total revenue of 12 million in 2003. Now they are going to give Howard alone a 100 million dollar a year budget. They better hope Howie sells some radio subscriptions SIRI is going bankrupt and Howie ain't getting jack. It's amazing what a little research will do, ain't it Winst? Sirius said it would need to add 1 million subscribers to cover the cost of the five-year deal. The company estimates total production and operating costs for the show to be about $100 million annually. FranktheRabbit 10-06-2004, 01:23 PM Is Howard worth the $100 million a year? Let's see...... Howard supposedly has 12 million listeners. If 10% of his diehard fans follow him to Sirius Radio, thats 1.2 million listeners. It costs $12.95 a month for a Sirius subscription so, $12.95/month X 12 months/year X 1,200,000 listeners = $ 186,480,000 per year that Sirius brings in. After they pay Howard his 100 million, they still have 86 million left over. I think Sirius is getting a bargain. junkie29 10-06-2004, 01:29 PM So I guess there's no infra-structure cost associated with them increasing their number of subscribers tenfold - not that that will happen. |
