View Full Version : Who Is Not Going To Sirius???
jblock 11-11-2004, 10:26 AM I am on the fence leaning towards saying so long to Hooknose when he goes to Sirius. Due to my job, I don't hear the show much anymore. Also, the show has slipped quite a bit. Hell, when he goes on his political crapola rants or talks about Beth, I usually turn it off. There is a fun AM show called Lex & Terry that I tune into and it is OK. I am not sure Howard is worth paying for anymore seeing as how I can't listen that much and the show is sliding downhill. Am I the only one that is considering saying goodbye?
F Artie.....
chuckem 11-11-2004, 10:38 AM As Howie would tell you, you aren't paying just for him, there are 100+ other channels. That beats the hell out of the few lousy free ones you get on AM/FM. I have XM now and will be switching over in the coming months.
I am glad, however, that election season is over and Howie will hopefully shut the 'F' up about politics.
Artie rules!
Back2sleep 11-11-2004, 10:53 AM I'm not going. Eff that.
tommykinda 11-11-2004, 12:36 PM just my two cents but lex and terry are complete crap. They took howards spot when he was booted in my market and lasted all of 3 months. The station dropped completely off the books -- NOONE listened anymore.
I may get sirius but it'll be for the whole package not just howard. I was gonna get xm next month anyway.
Miller 11-11-2004, 12:48 PM I got Sirius this week and love it. I guess I am already there. It’s very nice not to have static or change the stations half way to work.

Sounds like you're an old fart who probably chucked all your old rock 'n' roll albums for Barry Manilow albums that you listen to with your ball-and-chain wife while watching "Murder She Wrote" reruns on TV.
The Stern show is as good as ever, although you probably do have to be a regular listener to get all the joking around they do.
Lex & Terry sound like a couple of homos.
Miller 11-11-2004, 01:00 PM I don’t understand why all these people who say Stern sucks, has lost his edge, O and A are better, ect are still here posting. If he is so bad then why are they here and always seem to know what his show was about that day?
mricci53 11-11-2004, 01:02 PM Sirius rules.
the show continues to evolve and it will be fresher when it goes to sirius.
the only "problem" with the show has been the constant censorship. remove that and howard will be free to create!
I can't wait!
JamesBong 11-11-2004, 01:38 PM I get Sirius free from the the Dish Network however it's only the music channels. They don't give us the sports or talk channels. I like it and it has come in handy when I had a couple of house parties but I'm borderline about buying it.
I love the fact you can log on and listen to Sirius on the internet. That's tight because I can't get a good signal to listen to howard from work. My office is right in the middle of the building where I work so I can only listen to howard in my comute.
If I do choose to get it I'm just going to bite the bullet and buy the lifetime package. God knows I don't want to get another monthly bill.

Well... if you've ever heard those three fools, all THEY ever do is listen to Howard, and comment endlessly on his show. It's nauseating...
I tried 'em out... Our local Stern imitator is better than them... and I can't stand him either!!
SirGaryColeman 11-11-2004, 02:04 PM I won't be buying Sirius until a year from now... I'm not sure how the whole package works, but if the technology gets better I don't wanna be stuck with year old shit. Plus, I'd rather listen to mp3s than the satellite radio so I don't need it for anything but Sterny duke.
tommykinda 11-11-2004, 02:16 PM I love the fact you can log on and listen to Sirius on the internet. That's tight because I can't get a good signal to listen to howard from work. My office is right in the middle of the building where I work so I can only listen to howard in my comute.
In another thread somewhere some actually asked a sirius rep if you will be able to get sterns show on the net and they said no....

I read in this thread that Howard's show won't be available to listen to online from Sirius:

Damm it! That sucks.
I saw it on thier website and figured We can listen to all the stations on the internet. Take a look
http://www.sirius.com/servlet/ContentServer?pagename=Sirius/CachedPage&c=Page&cid=1065475754125
"Listen online for free. On any computer. With no extra fee".
Now that's false advertisement!
diesel230 11-11-2004, 04:39 PM ill be getting it i think
Johnny Holmes 11-11-2004, 05:44 PM the only way i will subscribe to sirius is if they come out with a receiver that records the broadcasts. I can't hear the show because of work. I would have to record it like i do now and listen to it later.
Jakyll 11-11-2004, 05:52 PM I'm gonna keep my XM Radio but I am putting Sirius in my Nissan X-Trail.
Morning Wood 11-11-2004, 06:09 PM i'll be jumping ship with howard.
Modane 11-11-2004, 06:17 PM when it becomes avaiable up here, I'll get it.
I'm not going. Eff that.
You sleep a lot anyways so you don't matter.
Purity Knight 11-11-2004, 06:30 PM I will be buying it no question :hw:
I'm interested in all the other channels, Especially NFL, and I'd pay $50 a month for THE SHOW alone :boobies:
VegasSternFreak 11-11-2004, 08:13 PM I almost went out and bought all the SIRIUS Shit the other day. The cool car kit AND the personal walkman walk-around kit. Then I thought, hold on....they're gonna update this shit, and come out with newer stuff next year. I'm gonna wait til late next year, then get it off eBay. Way cheaper. Can't wait for the first show! F-bombs left and right!
Psycho! 11-11-2004, 10:12 PM I already have XM and its great, dont know if i will get sirius, prob not
trailer_parks 11-12-2004, 01:20 AM I have Sirius for over a year now, and love it. I've been converting people away from AM/FM for the year I've had it. Once you hear the difference, there's no comparison. I'll let someone use my car, and a couple weeks later, they'll have Sirius.
qwerty419 11-12-2004, 02:01 AM i will not be buying it, i plan to download the show off the newsgroups.
Shizat 11-12-2004, 03:01 AM I will also download the shows so that I can listen to them at work.
captainstabbin 11-12-2004, 03:14 AM Staying with XM...More Gooder...
koolest 11-12-2004, 03:27 AM Satellite radio definitely looks like the future thing, if you never tried it you can go to sirius.com and try it for free for 3 days, it's pretty awesome, then add Stern it should be great.
slbad 11-12-2004, 03:29 AM I can listen to my XM at work and split the cost with another employee. Once Howard goes to Sirius he's gonna pick up the cost of that.
Madbandit 11-12-2004, 03:45 AM Satellite radio definitely looks like the future thing, if you never tried it you can go to sirius.com and try it for free for 3 days, it's pretty awesome, then add Stern it should be great.
True, but there are some spoilsports out there: http://fmqb.com/Article.asp?id=53502

Hey no shit man.If you actualy like Lex and Terry there's now fucking way you understand or can appreciate the Stern Show.
I was down on the gulf coast about two months ago and this kick ass rock station has them on for thier morning show so I listened.
You mother fuckers that haven't heard it,It is the worst fucking shlap shtick cornpom shit. The show is broadcast from Jacksonville fl and the two guys sound like Canadians.Thier radio buddies are two old dudes that simulcast from 750 am Atlanta. They get nervous all the time and there is alot of flop sweat. The chic segements never realy work cuase of the wierd dynamic with two guys and one chic.It starts to get gay so they eventualy bash the chic for some reason.I'm telling you in all honesty things must be fucked up because there are alot of people that call that show and are into it.It's god damn scary. It's scary cuase it makes you wonder about the people around you and where they are in life. That depressingly generic show is simulcast eveywhere.
slbad 11-12-2004, 04:14 AM True, but there are some spoilsports out there: http://fmqb.com/Article.asp?id=53502
This is why I think that you will see that Howard will probably have to charge for his show in addition to the basic service.
Then there can absolutely be no arguement about being "accidently" subjected to it.

What about renting cars that have no satellite radio receivers?
gazill 11-12-2004, 04:17 AM No, I will not pay to hear Howard.
toyo15 11-12-2004, 04:21 AM I will most likely download the show from a group also, I do not get to hear more than about 20 minutes in the AM onthe way to work (the only downfall of a short commute) and the reception at work is not great and static drives me nuts...
I have not heard an entire show for a long time...anyone know of a good place to download the show so I can listen in the evening?
Bababong 11-12-2004, 05:28 AM You mother fuckers that say you don't want to pay for the show crack me up and here's why.
If someone you know came up to you and said get this shit.I have access to the Stern Show.I have this device for a hundred dollars that will play the Stern Show on any radio or stereo anywhere you go or you can listen through your headphones. The only thing is I got a feed to the show where they cuss and describe things in perfect accuracy and the breaks are short as hell. The other great thing is the shows from the week are broadcast all weekend and there's two more stations that Howard programs and are fun as hell too.One more thing there's tons of music and every NFL Football game is broadcast with all the news and other shit.Just $15 a month.
You know you would be all over it.Unless of course your a gay tightwad bitch.
nikibs 11-20-2004, 06:52 PM The Jokeman Martling is not going to sirius. The stutterer won't make it either
Texas13 11-20-2004, 08:13 PM I get Sirius for free already at work but I do find myself switching to my cd's when Howard is just repeating and repeating the same thing EVERYDAY....He's just not as funny as he was in his earlier dayz. I will have access to Sirius but I will prob still be switching to cd's or ESPN if the redundancy continues....
Blade_Jones 11-20-2004, 08:34 PM There's always Phil Hendrie on AM radio.
bznick 11-21-2004, 04:30 AM O&A are just bad, simplest way to put it.
skore 11-21-2004, 05:15 AM Dude - no offense but that Lex and Terry show is complete shit. I am down in West Palm a lot and hear that show while Howard is on commercial and it is God awful. Just terrible...

i'm glad that they are gone from Dallas...they didnt last long here...
hendrix5150 11-21-2004, 05:29 AM I AM SOLD ALONE ON THE NFL GAMES alone.. every game from the NFL is broadcasted through Sirius!! You know how many times cable or Direct TV has been down due to storms and you miss games. Yeah it has happened to me. With this not only you can get any game, but you can have a life saver back up!
StrangeT 11-21-2004, 05:29 AM I already have XM, it's 9.99 a month, while Sirius is 12...I really dont feel like swapping out all my shit..
MikyMM 11-21-2004, 07:40 AM I am buying in a couple of weeks. AM/FM really sucks. All I do is scan for something decent to listen to.
im getting it, probably next week
Hendry 11-21-2004, 10:11 AM I will get Sirius when they make a portable, Walkman type of unit. I don't drive to work and I don't listen to the radio at home, so it makes no sense to until then.
dave24s 11-21-2004, 11:20 AM I'm talking my woman into getting it for me for my birthday next week. I can't wait to get away from the garbage that is terrestial radio.
And, by the way..if Howie is on Sirius...how is anybody going to record it and put it in the newsgroups? To the best of my knowledge, no satellite receiover has a cassete recorder or cd burner in it.
Bullitt 11-21-2004, 01:18 PM I won't be going till they come out with a Walkman. I can't use the boombox at work, and if the sattelite signal won't make it into a building, and onto my Walkman, I have no use for it.
anthonycomedian 11-21-2004, 02:40 PM You guys who aren't going are full of shit... you'll go. It's only $150 a month... people pay that much for cable and you don't get nearly as much enjoyment as you do with Howard
hendrix5150 11-21-2004, 02:57 PM I am buying in a couple of weeks. AM/FM really sucks. All I do is scan for something decent to listen to.
FM radio sucks so bad in my area, all I listen to is Howard and nothing else. My radio friend calls me up and tells about something going on or have I heard about this or that station in my area and I have no fucking clue. And we laugh because Radio is so bad now, you cant even listen to it anymore.
Luther 11-21-2004, 03:10 PM I am going to get it when Howard goes. They need more classical stations though. The only have two stations, and one of them is devoted to opera. They should have at least three, one for orchestral music, one for chamber music, and one for solo piano music.
mr_omerta 11-21-2004, 03:13 PM I'm waiting until it's time for Howard to go, I'm guessing that they'll have some sort of deal then.

hey Luther are you into Vivaldi and Niccolo Paganini, thats like ear crack for me. ;)

I don't know if you've heard but the XM Mi-Fi is out and the reviews aren't pretty. I guess it really dosen't work as a "walkman" because if you walk with it on it loses signal constantly. It also takes 7 hours to charge on a battery thats embeded in the unit.
Dollparts 11-21-2004, 05:33 PM I love sirius,,,,,I can't wait for Howard to get there..... ;)
