Cowboys OLB DeMarcus Ware was named the winner of the Butkus Award Friday.
The award has been given to the best collegiate linebacker since 1985, but this year was expanded to include a pro and high school linebacker as well. "The criteria is a three-down player who's not taken out and not a specialty player," said Dick Butkus. "I'm very happy with the choice (of Ware)." Ware led the NFL in sacks in 2008 with 20.0 and forced an NFC-best six fumbles.
