Certainly the News Team could go if they are trying to save money.

I don't know about that. Howard's contract still has a couple of years left, plenty of time for Lisa G et al to find work. Her comment suggested she was actively looking now. I also wonder about Gary's recent moves - is he preparing for life after Howard Stern already? Howard and Robin probably will never work again, Fred can find work instantly, and Artie has his stand-up gig and imminent death to look forward to, so none of them are worried about the immediate future.

You could fire the entire staff with the exception of Howard, Fred and possibly Gary and it would still be the same show - considerable better without Robin and Artie. The rest of those losers(that I hear Howard pays like 18,000 a year to write material for him and do his work) are just excess baggage.

Robin should be the 1st to get the big boot; salary wasted on Robin can fund an entire department.

Howard will never get rid of his "team". The more money he makes, the larger his staff becomes! He will just do more commercials.

Maybe the news team could walk out before getting fired. Then, they could email Howard with the news about their walking out, and Howard could spend the next eight years awkwardly trying to figure out how to talk about the news team when they come up in on-air discussion.

But then, the news team never brought to the show what a certain someone else did many moons ago...

BTW, many or Richard and Sal's prank phone calls are meant to be funny too even though most are anything but real. (The fast talker and the yard sale calls are unique however there is no way they can be produced off the cuff. The production has to start out as a real time recording... that said, the people on the phone do a very good acting job.
