Kimba 11-24-2004, 08:25 AM Poop! I just got the free audiovox receiver and car kit for signing up for a year. I am enjoying the service though. It is great.
Woulda been nice to have a serius walkman though. I don't think audiovox makes one though that would hold the receiver i got.
oh well, cest la vie. It's not like I ever use a walkman anyway.
BelmontShore 11-24-2004, 08:45 AM This is the unit that I have and it is AMAZING.
Unfortunately, I got it 3 weeks ago, for my birthday, but what are ya gonna do.
I'm not trying to be a shill for Sirius, but YOU GOTTA GET SATELLITE RADIO. The best thing that I can say is that Sirius Satellite Radio has re-instilled my love for music. Commercial radio has done everything it can to destroy music and this is the way to take back control.
I listen to Howard and then the radio goes off and Sirius goes on, I even have it playing in the background while we watch T.V. at night.
This Xact unit is the best I've seen. It's compact, easy to set up, easy to move from car to home.
djequipment 11-24-2004, 11:48 AM Sweeeeet ass find, because we all seem to now that this is the coolest unit out there so far!!!
texasfan 11-24-2004, 11:52 AM belmont how does this work. This small unit gives you good sound.Im ready to sign up,but what esle will i need to get good quality radio. If you could please anwser this i would appreciate it.
Y2KOAM 11-24-2004, 12:48 PM yeah, i'm seriously considering doing this deal but i'd want the lifetime of the radio deal and if i'm going to do that i'd be willing to splurge a few extra dollars for an extended warrenty. i saw at best buy you can buy a 4 year extension of the sportster for $40.
can you buy that for this?
texasfan - this unit has a headphone jack, an antenna jack, and a power jack.
it comes with a 12 car cig adapter / car dock / car antenna
it comes with a house plugin power adapter / house dock / house antenna
you can plugin the power cord, and antenna, and a pair of headphone to listen.
it comes with RCA cables so you can plug them in instead of the headphones and plug it into you home or car stereo
it has an FM modulator built in which means any FM radio can pick it up wirelessly. just tune your radio to 88.5fm and it will pick up your unit's sound.
the docks let you wire the system up with the antenna, power, and cables to your stereo and leave them hooked up. then just bring the walkman with you and plug it into either the home or the car dock.
you really don't need anything else to listen at home & in the car. If you want to listen while walking around you'll need to pick up the optional portable battery pack / antenna but I haven't found a good deal on that yet. it's around $100.
texasfan 11-24-2004, 04:55 PM ill sign up in morning,Thanks for the answers.I hope i can figure this shit out.Mutt ,thanks.i know you`ll be posting other stuff.Maybe you can talk to sirius about up grading people if there are better deals.I`ve emailed sirius twice letting them no where i heard about sirius radio.SFN,that what im talking about.
blaze007 11-24-2004, 05:07 PM The link isn't working for me.
EDIT:
I got it to work on AOL...thanks.
Lvanett 11-25-2004, 01:35 AM I got a fucking stupid question. I live in an apt. and have no car but would still like to get Sirius. Is it possible or am I shit out of luck?
Disintegr8or 11-25-2004, 02:04 AM I am not getting the choice for the "Xact tuner". Is the deal over, or am I doing something worng? I tried using both IE and Mozilla.
Thanks
Tom
More naive questions: If the Xact can be used as a Walkman with headphones, it must have a built-in antenna strong enough to pull the signal. Would we have to go through the rigors of installing the car antenna (as shown in the other thread's Installation video by Crutchfield)?
Same question for running through home stereo--does the Xact NEED an extra antenna for indoors? I'm thinking 'yes' because the Xact (and probably both its home/car docking stations) have antenna jacks.
Can someone who owns one (Belmont) please comment?
How long does a charge last in Walkman mode? How big is the add-on battery pack that Mutt mentions?
I'm looking into why this deal is working any longer.
promo code 453 is working for a differnt $50 deal

Amazing sound quality. The sound quality in the car is top notch, using the FM Transmitter. It's just my preference to go hard wire in the house.
You could probably spend some money on a gold cable, but you'd have to be a real audiophile to hear the difference.

I live in a condo, doesn't affect the sound quality at all. I thought I'd have to put the antenna by the window, but the damn thing works no matter where I put it.
The other great thing I found, is that even though the unit is wired into the receiver, when I'm in the spare bedroom, the FM Transmitter works on the standard boombox, down the hall.

The XAct unit can be used with an additional rechargeable battery pack that you attach an antenna to in order to achieve "walkman" status. That costs around $100. I believe it comes with it's own antenna.
The home unit has a bulkier antenna that comes with the home docking station and that just remains in the house. And yes, the docking stations have the antenna jacks.
Here's the Portable Unit:

Carnival Man 11-27-2004, 02:31 PM It's been several days now since ordering the Xact package through SFN & still no e-mail confirmation from Sirius...it sure looked like the order went through on the website...
Daethian 11-27-2004, 03:36 PM I found a guy on Ebay who makes and sells battery packs for this unit! Yah! I bought one and asked him if he'll have more. He said you can check out online if you are interested www.siriuswalkman.com
aj1000101 11-29-2004, 10:50 AM Im trying to get it to work but it wont...and i also want the lifetime....Is this possible?
careful with LIFETIME subs...
it's for the lifetime of the receiver... not you.
granted if your receiver dies within the warranty period, I HEARD they may move the sub over to the new one...

on the sirius side, no "real" walkman type device...
xm has the MyFI, but that is right now around $350.
the closest thing to sirius is the XACT unit, but going portable is a lilttle kludgy with an antenna sticking up.
I can't wait to get one of these XAct radios. I'm so hoping Howard goes over to Sirius sooner.
bvillan7 12-13-2004, 04:19 AM Does anybody know if this deal is still working? I am looking to get one for my father in law. Thanks
Y2KOAM 12-13-2004, 06:42 AM i found a decent code, not sure if it's posted anywhere but it's "035"
SantosLHalper 12-20-2004, 05:35 AM it looks like most of these are nfg...any good codes for us last minute procrastinators?
They have been advertising Sirius on tv its a 800 number which i always rigth down and lose. The deal is u get the whole car kit for $100. Normally it retails for $165 total w/ no installation. I soon as i find the 9800 number ill post it.
Y2KOAM 12-22-2004, 03:18 AM try 1034
always use referal id - webguy@sternfannetwork.com

jokerZwild 06-10-2005, 02:28 PM what about xmradio?
buenomota 06-11-2005, 09:29 AM I have had sirius since january. I can always find something good to listen to. The programming is great.
I recently took a 6 hour road trip in my friend's car who has XM.
XM is total crap. It has more stations, but the quality of what they play is garbage. I really tried to give it a chance, but damn...it sucked. I just ended up listening to regular radio.
BoyGary 06-17-2005, 09:43 AM thanx for the review, i wondered whcih one was better
airmj4523 07-17-2005, 08:24 AM I need to get Sirius soon. What's the best deal out there? Isn't there a lifetime subscription available?
hunter x az 08-15-2005, 08:26 PM I need to get Sirius soon. What's the best deal out there? Isn't there a lifetime subscription available?
Yeah, it's 500$ though.

That's bullshit. At least when you buy a cell phone and a contract, if the phone dies OR YOU WANT TO UPGRADE TO A NEWER UNIT, they let you do that - provided you tack onto the contract.
How would a lifetime contract work on SIRIUS with one device? You know the technology is going to get better. I don't want to subscribe with a car radio unit for a lifetime deal, then get screwed when they put out their Walkman w/record time.
Biting Chigger 08-25-2005, 01:03 PM I can't get it working at all now :(
I'm debating between the Xact and that Kenwood. I really don't need anything flashy. Just using it for Stern and NHL games. Everything else is a bonus in my mind. I want the month-to-month plan as well so I can pick and choose to keep it or not. Also I like having all my money in my pocket as opposed to paying ahead by large time periods.
What about the Xact makes it so good vs. the others? Really they all seem the same to me. Plug it into your existing car stereo / home stereo and listen. The receiver can't possibly effect sound quality since that should depend on your stereo parts. In terms of portability, they are all small as heck. The Xact is not a true walkman since it's got a bulky antenna needed. Try using that while jogging :) So for me right now, less cost, better value. Am I missing something here guys?
JayJayRamone 08-25-2005, 09:30 PM I bought a Sirius Sportster earlier this summer. My girlfriend was thinking about getting the Xact tuner that's listed at the begining of this thread. Does anyone know if we would still be able to get the $49 deal and ad her to my subscription for the extra $6 per month?
SIRIUSDeals 09-08-2005, 08:34 PM Check out the deals at this address: www.sirius.com/offer/partner
