As you can see, the site is live but we aren't 100% yet. still much to do.

the search is limited right now because the search index has not been rebuilt. it will be done soon.

the new video embed system lets you embed shitloads of videos from different sites. it'll be fun now that you can embed porn from sites like redtube but remember, keep it in adult.

WHAT'S NEW

users can customize their profiles
friend/buddy/ignore list, buddies shown on your profile
profile comments
user photo albums
calendar forum. calendar events are linked to threads.
calendar event RSVP system.

multiple attachments per post
auto resize & thumbnails
timed auto release TO (lets staff send you in for 24 hrs then auto release)
timed IP bans
timed stickies (auto unstick so they aren't up forever)
ban log complete w/ reason, who sent, when, & when they should be sprung
release from TO auto restores supporter status (no more waiting)
paypal donations auto upgrade your account (no more waiting)
facebook styled status (Mutt is make a post)
forum ban (lets staff ban you from just 1 subforum)
thread ban (lets staff douche protect anyone from any thread)
social groups (I'm not really sure what the hell this is but we got them. what I think it is, are private groups where you start the group, you decide who gets in, and discussion in there are private from the rest of the members. If that's the case, it will be how we handle the new ladies forum)
calendar event reminders
thread tags, this helps with search engines
must me 18 to register & 18 to enter adult forum

before you go crying about all the new ban options realize that this doesn't mean more bans, it means more ways to do partial bans. allows the staff to end a problem without killing accounts.

VIDEO EMBED
TEMPORARILY TURNED OFF

sites which auto embed. just paste the URL. if that doesn't work, try pasting the embed code. it all depends on the site. I will need feedback. if sites aren't importing correctly, we'll get ti fixed. if there are sites that need to be added, if it's possible I'll ass them. not all sites will work.

you need to check the "automatically embed media" checkbox but DO NOT use any tags. just post the URL. the site will handle the rest.

NOTE: becasue of the way the code work w/ the ajax quick reply & quick edit, you may not see the embeded video right away. everyone else will see it though.

NEW BBCODES

if I need to add codes, let me know what's missing.

the old smilies are imported. the new ones from the temp site still need to be imported.

some of the old BBCodes are no longer being used like [ CENTER ] & [ YOUTUBE ]. there are new ways these things are handled now.

there are permissions on BBCodes too which means there are BBCodes that you may not be allowed to use. I will be sure to make a complete list of all restrictions & directions

HELP ME TEST

I need to know if the 30/30/30 is really working. they should have a 30 min wait between replies, can't make threads, can't get into the adult forum.
I need to know that guests can't get into adult.
I need to know if you see anything broken, any security issues, etc. it's always possible that there are settings I missed

if you downloaded attachments, it's time to upload them. you can either upload them 1 pic per post like before so the comments match up or you can just upload them all to the first post in that thread. it won't take long before the important threads are fixed.

Not to bust your balls or anything, Mutt, but besides the above, could you also put more space--or a thicker line-- between the stickies and the first thread? That would make it easier on the eyes and less confusing, I think.

I know this is not a Help thread, but I had a question....I thought in the past that Mutt said that if someone posts in a thread that you are viewing, it would automatically show up...sort of like IM..or maybe a better example is cnn.com or drudgereport that automatically refresh every few minutes.

Is this feature in the new SFN? It isn't essential and I love that thread subscriptions work, but I'm just curious.

Just letting y'all know something I found out: If you run Firefox and the Scriptblocker PlugIn, you'll now need to select "allow" for the "Googleapis.com" in order to use the edit functions when posting. I guess that's part of the new v3.8.1. If you don't, you get this:

it's always been 30 seconds between posts.

but I wouldn't have a problem for changing it for supporters & vips. I already have the code in place to adjust it for probationary members

Before the update, there was no 30 second wait for supporters & VIPS between posts, I would love to have that back

I have done some tempalte edits but not alot. making the site pretty is something i can do over time while we are live. I had to concentrate on things that effected use. I fully agree that the postbit legacy template needs work. I'll tighten it up. have been doing it a little here and there. the easiest fix is to move the text under the av like location & posts to the bottom of your post across from the quote & edit button. it'll help.

Hey Mutt, not sure if this is the right place for this but I sent you an email through the form too.

Before you took down the old SFN, I registered a new name and both my new name and previous name were both "deaded". I wasnt aware making a new account would result in me getting banned and im pretty bummed out about it. :(

Is there anything that can be done? Im on my brothers name now because I couldnt find any other way of contacting you.

I could delete all cookies as that MIGHT fix it but I'd hate to have to reenter all my usernames, etc for all the sites I visit...

EDIT:I just went into Tools->Options. Then, selected the Privacy tab. You'll see a button called "Show Cookies...". That's your ticket. On the Cookies dialog that comes up, you can remove the cookies one by one. I removed all the cookie from sternfannetwork.com except for the userid and passwdid.

That fixed it! FYI for any others with the same problem.

I will answer you here as well. it's in your user control panel. there is a donation link in the side menu. it's a new donation system different that the old. all future donations will be tracked by it. your previous donations are stored in a seperate table and are currently only accessible from the admin control panel. I will import / convert them to the new system eventually. not 100% sure when yet. it wasn't one of the necessary scrips to re-open.

donations can be made thru the site & your account will automatically get upgraded when it gets confirmation from paypal. you will also get automatically expired. plus there's a new month to month option.

If I combine the new & old support tables, I wanted to hold off a little. we have ALOT of expired supports still running at supporter level. I wasn't ready to expire them and since the new system does that automatically, they would get expired as soon as I got the records moved over.

I just tried IE for the hell of it and it worked?!

go into firefox & stop blocking the SFN scripts. you are probably blocking the google API which is necessary for all of the AJAX features like quick reply, quick edit, etc. I bet if you turn off all of your firefox plugins it will work fine. i bet you have some for of cookie blockie, javascript blocker, ad blocker, or something along those lines that is causing the problem. the new SFN uses advanced srcipts. javascript & cookies are 100% required.

VIPs should be none but maybe a 15 sec wait for supporters just to have that little speed bump there just in case.

also the entire site is running so smoothly now i love it. there are so many cool features that i have been playing with, for the most part they work. i did however notice when posting a message in a social group that even though the codes tabs are there, it isnt possible to add an image or html

One of the things I loved about being a supporter before the upgrade was no wait in between posts, especially in the listening thread for me, now its 15 seconds. Any other supporter want it changed back to no wait for supporters.

I've seen this on other forums and it's a good feature.

Mutt, looks great and working well.

The only weirdness I've run across is,

If I set the "Number of Posts to Show Per Page" to 100, the page winds up ending somewhere in the middle of one of the posts numbered in the 70's. The next page will then pickup at post # 101, but the page ends again in the 170's, partway thru a post.

I set it back to show 50 posts per page, and that is working fine.

Massive props for all the hard work!!

it seems as if when you refresh your page it decides to put you back wherever it pleases and not where you left off. if i have 100 post per page and i am on post 89 which is at the bottom and then i hit refresh it puts me back up top somewhere. not back at post 89 or anywhere close to it.

1. The VB codes do not work when people leave messages on another member's profile.
2. The VB codes do not work in Social Groups.
3. In Social Groups the image insert button isn't working.
4. "Spoiler" VB tag is inactive.

I don't know what is up with the social group button. probably have to chmod a dir or something. i'll look into it.

it's possible BBCodes are simply turned off for those locations. I'll look into it.

I need to make a new spoiler tag. didn't come up with one yet.

I was told that douche protection does not work when i looked into it, douche protection wasn't even turned on for that thread. understand that not everything from the old site made it. any of my custom addons have been rebuilt & the old setting may have been lost. douche protected threads would be one of those settings. just cause it was protected before does not mean that it's still douche protected. you need to check the douche box on the edit page to reset it.

I seem to be having a problem with the "subscription" feature. Yesterday I set it to "No email notification". Sometime today, it seems to have switched to "email notification" (644 e-mails as a result :) ), I just checked again now and it was "Don't subscribe by default". Is anyone else seeing this?

I completly forgot to make sr status but I certainly can still do it. you didn't lose anything. just bustin your balls. (you saw someon who's a sr? that's odd)

stickies will be changed. I need to make my sticky scroller (they rotate in a news scroller. the test board one wasn't perfect. need to find something else) & my universal sticky (sticky show up in all forums. replaces announcements)

installed the blog script

worked on profiles a little more. will be easier to make my profile template after people fill them up with stuff.

added some prefix stuff. prefixes are now clickable. (limits threads to just one with that prefix)
staff option to mass set prefixes from forumdisplay.

TODO
- was told that members couldn't set prefixes on the edit page. gotta look into that. it's possible that I need to change an edit setting in the admincp
- added AJAX next / previous links for albums but they suck. need to move them to the middle of sides of pics & change them to arrow graphics. will be much nicer
- need to make certain profile fields BBCode-able / smilie-able
- need to pull the about me field from where it's at & make it a big post at the top of the profile. will let people have a welcome message in their profile.
- add calendar pics to the calendar script
- change calendar week veiw to event view. list the same as week but list the whole month & skip empty days. make the date bigger. include formatted post. stick the little calendar w/ pic in there as a side column.
- change the way the calendar handles recurring events. I hate how you have to enter the start & end time. it should accept empty times. matter of fact, it shouldn't even show that crap.
- grab the new code I make that builds the event calendar & use it to build the homepage calendar / list of events. should be saved a a cached template once per day.
- install the article styled post template for the news & reviews forum. first post on every page. same template used of homepage featured articles. need an admin setting where I enter threadids to be shown on homepage & the order they should be in. the list of homepage articles should be saved to a cached template once per day.

I forget what else I was thinking.

I think he's asking if the old method of attaching pics and gifs is coming back so that full pics and animated gifs will show in the posts without having to hotlink them

an a similar note: pics, hotlinks and smileys don't work in the social groups

another question about the groups. is there any way to kick out someone who joined a public group that you founded that you don't want in there?

I hate the notification box on the homepage. will look into removing the notification from that page or at the very least, moving it.

on the old sfn, when you used the active topics link, the list of threads would come up......at the end of each thread link was a little arrow....if you clicked on the thread, it took you to the very first post...if you clicked on the arrow it took you to the last post

the way it is now, when you click on the thread it takes you to the last post...there is no option to see the first post
