Yeah. I agree with the renaming, but "Freedom Tower was too provocative a name" is a lame reason.

The name change only makes sense. The person who named it the freedom tower is probably the same genius that changed the triborough bridge to the rfk bridge. I think the area known as ground zero will always be referred to as the world trade center when all the building is done.

I love that they are naming it World Trade Center again. If it were up to me, I would have rebuilt the towers in the exact same exterior as the old ones.

I grew up with a view of the Twin Towers from my apartment in Queens so it holds a special place in my heart.

Freedom Tower was a tacky name. I guess it left a bad taste in my mouth when they changed the name of french fries to freedom fries at the cafeteria at Capitol Hill when France, rightfully, disagreed with us about invading Iraq.

I don't see why they can't just call it the WTC Memorial Plaza and not build anything there. It should be turned into a memorial park where people can pay respects to everyone who died that day, whether it was the people in the buildings, on the flights, or in DC.

I think Freedom Tower sounds stupid. I knew three people who died in the Towers....Freedom Towers just sounds so cliche and dumb. If we are not going to use the primo land in lower Manhattan to conduct business in (as it is in the financial district) can we at least have a memorial park to have for the memory of all of our dead citizens?
