I'm sure it's been noticed but I haven't seen anyone mention it yet, but the page views haven't been accurate. Often they show 0 when there have been several replies.

a couple people have mentioned a 'first post' link from each thread in the active topics list

when you click on a link it automatically takes you to the last post...on the old site if you clicked on a link it took you to the first post, if you clicked the arrow at the end, it took you to the last post

does any of that make sense?

from forum display, when you click on a thread title you go to the first post. when you lick the last post arrow, you go to the last post.

it down's do what you are saying. If you say it is, I can't replicate it

When I use my pocket pc phone wm6 to view a thread page, a window pops up every time saying "a script is causing the device to run slowly. If it continues to run the device will become unresponsive"
When is this going to be fixed. It causes me to have to reset my phone , the whole time.
Site is completely unusable- is a little green flashy dot worth it?

Hey Mutt... I've been a member on these forums for quite some time, I may not reply a lot, but I'm a avid reader and really do enjoy this site. A lot of features have been removed from my account recently and I have not been able to access all parts of the forums, such as adult, etc..

I understand you have restrictions due to spam etc.. But I've been a member so long, I'm not sure what to do. Hell i can't even post a new thread topic w/ out getting blocked out.

So please let me know whats up.

Thanks!

There was a feature where you could see who had posted inside a thread... it was a drop down menu at the bottom of the page on SFN2... it listed people that had posted inside the thread and the # of posts they had made in it.

the bug that's causing stuck topics to repeat on every page is still fucking up the works

Fuckinhigh
04-08-2009, 12:03 PM
Lets say that I am not logged in yet and reading threads, I want to reply, I click 'log in' from the top menu bar.

Once I have entered my user name and password, the site redirects me to the user profile page, insted of sending me back to the thread I was viewing.

If you press reply and log in that way, after the site tells you that you need to log in then, it redirects you back to the thread like it used to. But that makes you go to the page where the site tells you that you fucked up and forgot to log in, I think it is an entire extra page to do that way.

I am using a dial up internet so more pages to load isn't cool, and pages full of pictures can take a half hour to load, That however is my fault for being poor. The login thing is different than it used to be.

Maybe you want it that way?

If you look at the link you'll see the post number after it.... this would be a template change across the board.

TODO
- for albums & post attachments I want to be able to upload a zip file of images, have the site unzip it, and process them as separate attachments. will make uploading photo galleries a snap
- for posts, I want to be able to write a short description for each attachment. will be perfect for thumbnail galleries
- for albums, I want an easy way to tag the SFNers in your pics. (facebook style) then let members add a link to the users album for all pics you've been tagged in. will need to really look at this since I don't want people tagging a piece of shit as a username. maybe it will only work with your friends

Mutt: If you want to disable the "NewPost" default for Activetopics do the following.

Open external.php in a text editor.

Search for goto=newpost.

Change the lines

$xml->add_tag('link', $vbulletin->options['bburl'] . "/showthread.php?t=$thread[threadid]&goto=newpost",

to

$xml->add_tag('link', $vbulletin->options['bburl'] . "/showthread.php?t=$thread[threadid]",

You have to do this for whatever feed you have defined as your External Data Provider in your ActiveTopics setup.

Hope this helps

that's not how it works. activetopics is it's own script (made by me) & it's not using external.php. the way it works now, the link depends on how you have the page sorted. if you are looking for posts by yourself or soem other member, the links point to that persons post. if you are looking at newest threads, it goes to the first post of that thread. if you are looking at newest replies, it goes to the newest reply. I understand this can be confusing so I'll simply make the main link link to the thread & then add the arrow which links to the last post like the forum display page does. i should have done that in the first place.

I'm also going to add sort links in the forum column. right now clicking the forum limits the page to posts in that forum. there's no link to that forum. I want to add one. the rely & view counts should be sort links too.

might add a search box. not sure.

yeah i just changed it. now the thread goes to the first post & the arrow goes to the last. the only time it's different is if you limit activetopics to posts for a specific person & then sort by post date. (view users posts from the postbit drop down) then there's no arrow & the link goes directly to the post. it's the only thing that made sense

on the right site I change the forum link so it point to the forum & then added an arrow for the limit active topics to a forum link.

glad you like it, that's one of mine.

while driving to NY yesterday i decided that the way i'll handle it is get rid of the number of posts next to each name, i'll limit the number of names shown to the 20 names w/ the most posts in that thread. this should be pretty light weight. of course I'll keep "just my posts". for it to really work I'd need to add a "more" link which opens a popup with all the names with them clickable. this way we still have all the features without killing the box. not sure how to handle the popup but I'll figure it out.

I'm going to add a "just my friends posts" link. gonna add a "just my friends threads" to the forum display page too. considering adding it to activetopics but now sure how i could just put those 2 links or I could put a drop down with a list of all your friends letting you grab them 1 at a time. gotta play with it.
