I can access the site via www.ninjacloak.com but not by just typing the site address into my browser.

Mutt I thought we were friends :D

Same here. If I try to log in via Mediacom, it sits and hovers, trying to connect. I jumped onto my neighbor's Qwest account, and was in immediately.

I feel unloved, and unwanted.

I just get the standard "Firefox failed to connect to the site" screen.

I can't log on with both my home computers.

When using Firefox, I get the connection interrupted screen.

When I try using IE - it tries to connect but then just goes back to the existing site that was on originally.

I have cleared all my cookies and history for both programs and still can't connect.

I am still waiting to hear from Mutt but boy oh boy this really sounds like what was happening to me over the past few days. Mutt had me keep trying and presto today I can get in again.

FYI only (and Mutt can confirm if this was the same thing as my resolved issue) -

Mutt -

Don't know what you did but I can now access the site again. Big Thanks!

Bests,
Jim

p.s. --- I would be curious to know what it was if it's a simple answer - I don't even know if there was a thread about this in Q&P. Gonna check now.

[INSERT - Well, this sure seems like the thread about my issue - again, Mutt will confirm]

I will have to try tonight from home. Right now, I am in a government facility which has always had SFN blocked (and no, I don't want to know how to get around that lol).

I will check tonight.

Thanks for looking into this, Mutt.

I still can't log in from home.

I wonder if it's some sort of IP block because a buddy of mine tried his laptop on the same network and nothing.

I don't have any problem using www.ninjacloak.com (http://www.ninjacloak.com/) to access sfn. The only issue is response time is not as fast which is to be expected.

I don't know if this is quite the same but for the past week I could not get the site--kept getting broken link messages. It got very frustrating; I missed the listening threads. Anyway, fixed now but you never know. What causes this?

Kracka-Mike
04-03-2009, 03:11 PM
Were you messing with DNS settings on your domain name?

poohzie
04-03-2009, 04:23 PM
No, not that I know of--DNS, if that was directed to me. I just got that Broken link page from google and yahoo and any other browser I tried. I also have to keep logging in.

If we give you our IPs can you unblock them or something Mutt?

this should have been fixed yesterday. The host had a super firewall installed because we were getting hit with alot of DOS attacks. it was supposed to filter out the bad & still let you guys in. I had them loosen thing up a little. I you guys should be able to get in now.

It doesn't give an error number, it's just the generic "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage" in IE, and "The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading." in FireFox.

I just tried both browsers, and neither are allowing me directly through.

Yes... not solved.

Side note, Mutt I noticed that when you look at a profile there is no longer a "recent posts" section. I found that section quite handy, because I would often log in and post when I was fucking wasted, and that search tool allowed me to back track and find out what I had done the night before.

Any chance that could be re-instated? :D

Same here. For few days I just thought SFN was down until I tried it on my iPhone. Then I started using proxies.

Who knows how many everyday users can't get on and are thinking SFN is gone. Right now I see 400-500 users on average. It used to be 800

I just tried again a minute ago and now (of course - since I am typing this - lol) I got in.

Maybe the Firewall got a little over-zealous again. Anyway, whatever it was, it's gone now and we're back in business.

Thanks again for all that you do for Stern Fans worldwide!!!

Mutt I sent multiple emails to you guys about this but i am not sure you got any of them. I am sure alot of members are having the same problem i did. I was not able to log into the site. I would type name and pass and the site would say thanks for logging in only to be sent back to the sign in screen.
I saw someone post something about not being able to stay logged in and it was solved by checking the remember me box. I tried doing that when signing in this time and it worked. There is some sort of bug on some people but if any of you reading this have the same problem check the remember me box and then sign in. If you have the same issue i did you will get in

I have to go to the URL 5 or 6 times on IE before it'll let me on. Each time, it'll show the site at first and then go to the Error 404 page. This happens at home and work.
