I wonder if all those "custom" scripts and tables Mutt wrote has anything to do with it....

The page loads were very slow. When you clicked a thread or next page, it would partially load and just sit there for 30 seconds.

Seems to be a lot better now. :yippie:

is this place loading so goddamned slow since the up-grade ???

i can't understand it, just before the switch over the old site was running clean and very quickly again, as well as it did when i joined in 2006.

Likely it's vB ramping up.... not sure what frequency Mutt has for building/rebuilding indexes but sometimes that causes performance issues.

Also keep in mind vB has to perform a usergroup update every hour to find people with 30 posts to pull them out of JR Member... that takes up some resources too.

it's slower than even that should make it.

really long threads were very slow. I disable one of my hacks until i can come up with a better way to handle it.

I'm sure this slow down was unrelated

Some of the older computers with less RAM are having a hard time loading the new SFN pages, although they used to do fine here.

I think there's just alot more stuff to load on the pages than before. It's more of a content-to-computer-speed (RAM) problem than a site problem.

Even with a t3 connection, these older machines can barely navigate on sites with alot content per page, like myspace and amazon.

Hrm, are there any particular areas of the forums that are slower/more choppy than others? Or is it the entire forums? Different times of the day.

Sorry, just trying to help out with some troubleshooting.

In all honestly I'm having an easier time with these forums than the ones before, less 503 and time outs.

yeah, what Likwid said. the site seems to be moving great right now.

in order to pinpoint the issue, I need details. what pages you were on, the date & time it happened, your browser, hell anythign you can think of. the site has a million functions and it could be any number of things.

for example, I recently disabled the drop down in threads that says who posted in that thread. I was concerned it was shitting up large threads, making it choppy like you said.

also, i recently disabled the PDT becasue dogstar was down. I felt that might have been causing an issue.

I need to know as much as possible in order to track down the culprit
