take a look at this screens shot . .. .

http://i43.tinypic.com/3583wxl.png

see how it is doubling up like that ?? where two posts appear within one divider... it's happening randomly ... where two of the posts appear like that somewhere on the list of threads....

my guess is that its a glitch in the way the HTML is being generated... if you refresh the main page a few times you should see it come up like that at least once...

here is another example it just happened in this support forum on the list of threads:::

that shit is crazy.

what browser / OS are you on? i've never seen this problem

i am using the latest firefox on vista x64 ...

i tried disabling all my addons and restarting firefox ... but that didn't change anything and i still see the anomaly ... for me it happens at least once on every thread list in all the forums.. sometimes twice on the same page.

i looked at the HTML and i don't see anything that jumps out at me as being wrong... i tried saving the page with the glitch and loading it into microsoft expression web and the glitch doesn't show up there. page looks fine with no doubles.

then i even tried saving the page and reloading it from my harddrive into firefox and believe it or not the glitch doesn't show up then.... when i'm loading it off my harddrive.

so i dunno i guess you can close this until someone else reports the same problem... cause its very strange ... very strange....

that is a really odd (but cool) error..... I suspect it's the div tags that would cause it but even then like you said, who knows if anyone else is seeing it!

Daxx, that was a great response. you could not have been any clearer.

unfortunately, i don't know what's wrong. as Likwid said, since it's not in the html I assume it's some sort of overlapping div. hard to figure out though. stylesheets are weird. you said you saved the HTML from the page. can I see it? to attach it to a post you'll either have toi change the extension to .txt or zip up the file first & upload that.

thanks for the help.

Mutt I have done you one better... i took the time to install a fresh Vista x64 onto a VMware virtual machine running in 64-bit mode. then i installed firefox onto it to see if the problem appeared.... it didn't !

therefore this issue is some type of glitch with my system only. it is not related to vista x64 and firefox. i'm running a full nod32 virus scan right now but nothing is coming up.

i will probably take a few hours tonight to completely re-install vista x64 onto my rig. it has been almost a year since i did that and i have a LOT of software installed. i am 100% confident that once I re-install the doubling problem on SFN will be gone.

Don't kill yourself over it DaXX, I've seen these types of "weird" issues through testers and developers where I work, sometimes these things just are a strange combination of things.

:) cool stuff though, love the little quirks

well bra ... i don't really see it that way... first off I am a computer expert... by expert i am talking probably one of the most knowledgeable in the country. to me a computer cannot simply act "quirky"... a computer must act in a predictable manner where EVERYTHING is explainable.

if I cannot understand why it is doing something then surely things are VERY VERY wrong. in this situation there was absolutely something amiss with my setup. it was just easier to wipe everything out and start over. cause there is no possible way i could live with such an anomaly ... NO FUCKING WAY.

MUTT I have done my full x64 reinstall and everything is working just fine now... there is no doubling of the thread titles anymore on any of the forums. like i said i had installed many many software packages and i suspect one of the libraries included with them messed something up. but ultimately i will never know and i'm just glad its gone.
