Bubba made an interesting point by saying that the Sirius management wants Sirius to be television on the radio.

That doesn't even have to be connected to any celebrities they're hired.
Just the approach of TV on the Radio, as Bubba put it, would limit the medium to be second class.
Radio has to be radio. It has to be done by people who understand it, and get the best out of it, the way it was intended.
If it's just TV minus picture, the public is more likely to go for the original.

Away from the fact that the Howard Stern Show has it's ups and downs,
I think Howard has a deep understanding of the medium Radio, and he takes pride in it.
There seem to be people who are made to sit in front of the microphone, and they are different from the usual artist, who is just shoved into that situation.
Even if that artist/celebrity has the best intention, and is able to talk.
After a while, when it's not new anymore, the listeners wear out because something is missing.
The right approach or catch that keeps the audience tuned in.

bubba had a good show going before this shit went down. plain and simple. you want to get pissed at someone? get pissed at the management of siri/xm, starting at the top. in my 3 years of satellite listening, this format went from great, to 'going to hell in a handbasket',imo.

and bubba called this out, also. he said that the management at siri/xm was programming its channels to cater to the new york-east coast listening audience. and he's dead-on correct about that. witness the chris 'mad dog' russo clusterfuck on channel 123. i can see why those ratings suck. it's a joke. mad dog doesn't come close to scott ferrall, or even sporting news radio, for that matter.

bubba had a good show going before this shit went down. plain and simple. you want to get pissed at someone? get pissed at the management of siri/xm, starting at the top. in my 3 years of satellite listening, this format went from great, to 'going to hell in a handbasket',imo.

and bubba called this out, also. he said that the management at siri/xm was programming its channels to cater to the new york-east coast listening audience. and he's dead-on correct about that. witness the chris 'mad dog' russo clusterfuck on channel 123. i can see why those ratings suck. it's a joke. mad dog doesn't come close to scott ferrall, or even sporting news radio, for that matter.

the money siri/xm threw at mad dog's deal was a huge abortion. that money should have been thrown in bubba's direction. give him the 123 channel, so he doesn't have to do testicle radio too. then add in some other howard 101 shows that don't get enough airtime on 101- say fitzsimmons, chuck zito, riley martin, etc.,. the options are endless...

bubba, ferrall and anyone concerned has every right to be pissed. it's obvious the listeners are pissed at the whole deal.

I think the perception out there by some fans that Howard is too soft now to go after Sirius is wrong. I think the reason why Howard doesn't go after Sirus is due mainly to the fact that after he cashed in his stocks he stopped promoting his show and in turn Sirius for the last few years of his contract. Howard has no one to blame but himself for the treatment he is now receiving from Sirius. He was going to be the guy who carried Srius and he was for the first 2 years but ever since then he's been disinterested in showing up for work and for promotions so in turn Sirius isn't going to jump through hoops to accommodate his salary demands. And while they pay Oprah mega bucks to due squat they understood that going in. They were really just paying for her name to put in advertising. With Howard they were hiring the radio mega star who loves self promotion. Little did they know that this once great promoter would lose interest in promoting his show. I don't think Sirius realized that when Howard wanted the option to know that if he needed a Friday off he could have it. They didn't think that he would take EVERY Friday off. When they gave Howard HALF A BILLION DOLLARS to program THREE channels they didn't know that he would just do TWO channels and he would mostly hire wackpapers and super fans to be on his channels and pocket the rest of the money. It is these reasons that I believe they are looking for an iron clad agreement from Howard this time. If they want more promotions from him that will be written in, make him work a few Fridays...that will be written in, that's if Howard wants to make close to what he wants now. If Howard wants to take more time off well then that's fine but sirius will pay him accordingly to the amount of time he puts in. So now Howard who believes in his own mind that he deserves another Johnny Carson contract is sulking because he's not as big as he used to be to get that now.

im not crying. it just doesnt make any sense to me from a business standpoint, or from a show/fan standpoint. u want ppl to buy sirius because its innovative and uncensored and less commercials, and they buy it so they can listen to a 9 hour old terrestial radio show? or if u are saying no one buys it to hear bubba, then why have him at all?

seinfeld is bad analogy. bubba talks about up to the minute news and he does refer to morning. tho true, 75% of the show doesnt matter time. and why pick 3pm? because thats when he used to do the show live, but since its not live they can pick any time they want. but no one can think outside of a box so they keep using 3pm. wouldnt noon make more sense? howard show followed by bubba show. im not a radio programming genius, but that seems to make more sense. bubba would have more listeners, and less ppl could cancel when howard leaves.
also the concept of doing 2 shows in a row on friday is retarded. and its even more retarded that the ppl that are paying to hear him get the second show. hes re-creating the first show and its tired and he sounds bored and unmotivated doing the same rants for the second time. and why wouldnt howards replacement friday show start the same as the regular show? when johhy carson had a guest host, they woudnt change what time the show started.

Personally I sometimes prefer a 'bit' of a language censored show (ter radio) in that it doesn't start to sound like a high school locker room. I tried to listen to the O&A clip posted here yesterday and holy shit, they sounded like ignorant wanna be street thugs.(Besides sounding like whiny, jealous, bitter 3 year olds) Every other word was 'fucking or fuck'. "Yea I was fucking listening to fucking Howard Stern and he fucking said that ......" A properly placed curse word that bolsters a message is one thing, but when it just becomes a habit in your language that's another.
