View Full Version : All Bullshit Aside.
Howies Nigga 11-03-2009, 12:15 AM Who here thinks Sirius will come across with a workable/reasonable contract for Bubba when the current one expires?
Will Sirius offer Bubba anything or will they let the contract lapse and give him a walk?
Personally i think Sirius is trying to appeal to the masses with tv like cookie cutter radio from the likes of Oprah,Martha, and Rosie.
Bubba and to a certain degree even Howard no longer seem to be as important to Sirius as they once were.
Its almost like they were good enough to get Sirius off the ground with their hard work but no longer fit in with the direction the company wants to go and are being squeezed out.
Anyone else see it this way and agree that Howards days could be numbered as well?
Or am i totally fucked in the head and everyone will be back and well compensated at contract time?
mcbutton1970 11-03-2009, 12:17 AM That's a pretty accurate observation, IMO.
Miller 11-03-2009, 12:30 AM This has what, another year to play itself out? Who knows what will happen in the end but right now none of the main shows on 100 and 101 seem to happy.
cmdry72 11-03-2009, 06:25 AM imo, I think when Howard leaves they will loose a shit load of people. I would stay if Bubba was still there but no Howard or No Bubba, I will def. cancel all my radios.
tmarkoski 11-03-2009, 06:53 AM When the Q3 results come out this Thursday, watch what the stock does.
This is what will determine what happens to Howard and Bubba.
Many of the top executives have been selling off their stock holdings, above and beyond the shares granted to them as compensation.
The current executive team is already betting against the company.
If Q3 is bad, by that I mean still not profitable and an even lower subscriber count, then forget about Howard or Bubba coming back.
Bankruptcy or a buyout by Liberty Media is a very real possibility if this happens.
Sirius-XM is a poorly managed company that does NOT reward those who helped them develop and survive to this point.
It is a real shame but it is very indicative of the short-term management philosophy here in the US.
Sirius-XM doesn't have a clue about marketing and NOTHING has changed.

who are you? No offense but how would you know if the top executives are selling stocks and "above and beyond the shares granted to them as compensation."? and how would you know that the executive team is betting against the company they are working for? why would this 3rd quarter tell us what's going on with Howard and Bubba when Howard has another year left and Bubba still has some time, would the year end close tell more about the p&L and what is to come?
bompson 11-03-2009, 09:25 AM i can see sirius not paying bubba and howard when the time comes. and thats nothing against howard and bubba, it shows how bad sirius is at making business decisions.

Try reading the SEC filings you twit.
Sirius-XM is REQUIRED to disclose this information.
If Sirius-XM executives are selling shares that are NOT part of their compensation , what do you think it says about their bet for the future of the company?
The Q3 results will tell you where the business will be a year from now.
They are already preparing budgets and projections.
If their own executives are selling do you think it bodes well for any of the marquis talent at Sirius?
The year end close won't make a difference.
Q2 and Q3 are the defining earings reports for Sirius.
They MUST show improvement or delisting will happen and then the company is dead.
They have a limited time left to execute the reverse split that was previously authorized and it will probably be in december if Q3 is bad.

sadly, it kinda appears that way now...
but like Miller says - there's still a year to go, so hopefully we see a change in attitude towards edgy type shows.
If Bubba could come to terms with breaking away from Howard's 2 channels - Sirius could then offer him the time slot he wanted and put him on another channel where it wouldn't interfere with the Howard replay....
Jedi Beavis 11-03-2009, 09:57 AM Sirius might get to the point where they can't re-sign any of their on air talent.

They balked at the offer for a midday show once, there's nothing that tells me they'll take the deal the next time around. They'll probably cite the lower audience as a reason to let the show go, ignoring the fact Sirius XM's handling of the situation is what caused that in the first place.
If anything, if there's still an FM show, maybe they'll pay to be an affiliate again. As for an exclusive satellite show, I think that ship has sailed.
I'd much rather put my faith in Stern doing his own thing online, and bringing Bubba and Ferrall along. And with streaming through cars and smart phones becoming a reality, there's still the possibility for live interaction.

I like the streaming idea - I think it would work for Stern and Ferrell, but not for Bubba...
I can see that hurting the FTE's ability to listen as wifi hotspots are still only in major cities and large towns (sometimes)...
The podcast idea would be ok - but then you loose the interaction, and those things never sound as good as they can cause they always shrink them to 24kps or something stupid so it sounds all washed out...
I got my fingers crossed that Howard can't give up the freedom he has at Sirius, and will keep Bubba onboard.

I have a global internet plan through Verizon that gives me internet in the truck anywhere 24/7.
It costs an extra $50.00 per mo but you have internet everywhere and its generally way faster than any wi fi i've experienced.
I'm not sure how listening to a pod cast would pan out but it works very well with everything else, even downloading porn!:D

first of all I didn't call you names like twit or asshole, dickhead, etc but you still did miss the point. You like throwing BS around acting like you know something and you are important but it's Bullshit. Yea, read the SEC filings you twit, because they tell you that the top executive team are selling their stocks and which stocks they are selling. You throw a bunch of words around to make yourself feel smart but you still look like a dumb ass saying things like "They have a limited time left to execute the reverse split that was previously authorized and it will probably be in december if Q3 is bad"

Whaaaa......... :cb:
Grow the fuck up.
If you ask a stupid question and show your ignorance, it should NOT come as a surprise when someone points out how fucking stupid you really are.
Come back and play when you have half a brain.
cmass 11-03-2009, 08:09 PM SiriusXM seems to think that hosts and programs that bring in a lot of subscribers are a low priority for the company. Very big ticket names and venues, such as Oprah and professional sports, are of great importance to the company, but provide a negative return on investment.
So, to summarize, things that bring in revenue-bad, things that lose money-good.
Great recipe for success!
sirius wont resign bubba because they cant throw him on a billboard with oprah, they dont care that his fans will follow him to sirius and that he could hold a percentage of howards listeners if howard leaves, or the fact that he would be putting on a quality and exclusive show everyday, they just care about having names
My Balls Itch 2 11-05-2009, 07:39 PM I'm not going to start a thread about it but did anyone hear Howard showing Bubba love once again this morning. I know some people on here were pissed because they felt Howard didn't come out strong enough in support of Bubba's rant. I listened to the Stern show after that and he did support Bubba- he was more laid back than Bubba but he said something like he tried to get Bubba made exclusive and understood why Bubba did what he did....Howard supports Bubba and is loyal to him. That stuff about Howard not having Bubba's back is bullshit.
